australian crane & machinery’s new aerial work Platform acm 250offers built-in remote access response system.

The people at Australian Crane & Machinery (ACM) really know what they are talking about when it comes to cranes and elevated work platforms (EWPs). It is no surprise then that they have an amazing new product on the market that is unique in its design and safety features.

The ACM 250 Aerial Work Platform has a range of innovations that have enhanced the safety of the machine, its ease of use (even for a complete novice) and its capability for remote repairs, through an exclusive Remote Access Response System (RARS).

I had the opportunity to test this machineon a few tall Eucalyptus trees. With theability of the boom to extend over the treesand to articulate – which means a part ofthe boom folds into a horizontal position –

the machine was able to remain in the oneposition. The controls are easy to use andthe operations are smooth. In fact, the higheryou get, the smoother it seems to become.

The real point of difference with this machine is its ingenuity with the implemen-tation of the cleverly engineered Remote Access Response System. If the machine should suddenly break down or experience difficulties, instead of having to wait for a specialist mechanic to come on site, this system provides an immediate response. The RARS allows all Australian Crane & Machinery engineers to access the ma-chine’s computer remotely, anywhere and at any time. A full fault check can be under-taken and the machine’s recent move-ments evaluated. There is also a camera in the cabin so the technician can see what

is happening. The savings on machine downtime and operator costs are huge.

Having worked in this industry for more than 20 years, I have come across many types of cherry pickers. Many look shabby and in disrepair after only a few years in service. All the components on this machine have been designed for durability and longevity, even simple little things such as the rubber bumper bar, which will not get damaged if you accidently reverse into something, the heavy duty legs on the stabiliser and the anti slip coatings on the steps leading onto the truck.

ACM has also focused on safety and each platform has dual safety switches in case one fails. The basket will also return to a safe position, thanks to the built-in ‘Homing System’. AA

The operator is using a camera supplied withthe truck to directly link back to the servicecentre via in-truck internet communicationsfor on-the-spot service diagnosis
