HomeStress Free and

By Mrs. Emily MosesHomecoming is a wonderful time during a teenager’s life, and it can be a magical night for everyone. However, sometimes DRAMA occurs, and it really takes the fun out of the night for not just one person, but many people. I should know a thing or two about drama; my boyfriend, who told me he couldn’t go to the dance, showed up with a another girl after I had asked my friend to the dance. Needless to say, I was a little shocked and irate that he had stood me up and he ceased to be my boyfriend. I got a picture with him to remind myself that not everyone can be trusted, but I still had an amazing night with my friend

and didn’t let this unpleasant event ruin my good time. So here is some DRAMA (in a different way) to think about for Homecoming:

D: (Dance Like No One’s Watching)Don’t forget to DANCE - soak up and embrace all this dance has to offer. Get your pictures taken, dance with your friends, kick your shoes off and have a good time, compliment people on their beautiful and stunning attire, smile, and be positive to everyone

you encounter.

R: (Remember the Little People)Be thankful - try to stay positive and appreciate all the people in-volved in Homecoming; from the positive people at your school, to alumni returning to their “home”, to the chaperones and every-one who helped put this together, to your parents for caring about you to help you with this, and to your school community for mak-

ing this an unforgettably fun time.

A: (Attitudes are Everything)You’re not the only one affected - if you’re going in a group, with a boyfriend or just friends, everyone is affected by the attitudes and behaviors of others, so try to spread a positive one! Attitudes

are contagious!

Easy tricks to look your best in photos

Look to your rightAccording to a study done by Wake Forest

University, the left side of the face is more attractive than the right, due to the fact that it shows more

emotion.

Avoid light reflective makeupLight reflected back to the camera will create a

ghostly pale complexion. Finish with face powder instead to eliminate shine.

Avoid direct lightHarsh light can create shadows. Opt for softer light

or shade if you’re outside.

For a full body shotTurn your body three quarters of the way towards the camera, with one shoulder closer to the camera and one foot in front of the other. This will make

your body appear slim.

and Safe HomecomingBy Mrs. Emily Moses

Homecoming is a wonderful time during a teenager’s life, and it can be a magical night for everyone.

M: (Make Good Decisions)Remember the night - I mean, actually remember it. Don’t let negative influences like drugs and alcohol take away from one of the most memorable and fun times of your high school career. You don’t want to put yourself and others in danger, so make good decisions because sometimes things happen that can negatively affect the rest of your life. Say “Yes” to the impossible - you may think I’m kidding, but don’t do what “everyone else is doing”. Sometimes it can be impossible when we’re faced with tough de-cisions, but know that when you make good decisions, only good things can come of them. When you make bad decisions, often

times you get bad results.

A: (Acknowledge the Bigger Picture)It’s just a dance - there’s another one like it called Prom, with a few other dances sprinkled in. Don’t get carried away by the build-up of an exciting night, just embrace it and have fun. It’s also just one night - one night out of a hundred this year where you will get to spend time with the people who love you and the

people whom you love.

The Ice Cream ScoopWorried about not knowing how to dance? Sophomore Nic Ekland

teaches a simple, versatile move you can rock all night!

Set up like you are holding ice cream scoops in your hands with feet shoulder width apart. Use your shoulder to move your arms like you are scooping

imaginary ice cream whilst moving your knees in circles.

The homecoming t-shirts this year will resemble a football

jersey, so if you buy one then wear it! If you have an old players’ jersey, a current players’ jersey, or a jersey

from another sport, wear it! If you don’t have a Xavier

jersey wear white. Jeans are acceptable.
