CELEBRATING THE GLORIOUS FEAST OF PENTECOST * SUNDAY, JUNE 9
All of our major feast days celebrating the glorious mysteries of God are told to us in Sacred
Scriptures and we desire to honor them in every way.
The Glorious Feast of Christmas, Birth of Jesus and The Glorious Feast of Easter,
Resurrection of Jesus are told to us in the Gospel accounts of the Bible.
The Glorious Feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, the birthday or our Catholic
Church is told to us in a Book of the Bible called the “ACTS OF THE APOSTLES,” sometimes
called the Gospel of the Holy Spirit.
In this part of the Bible we learn more of who the Holy Spirit is what he does by many
amazing testimonies.
What we read in this Book was actually told to us by Jesus while He was living with and
teaching the Apostles everything they needed to know. He spoke about the upper room
and how God would become present to them in the form of wind and tongues of fire and
that when this would take place they would be anointed by God, that is God would enter
them and fill them so they could carry out the mission God planned for them from the
beginning. In the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 2 verses 1 – 4 we read;
And when the days of Pentecost were drawing to a close, they were all together in one
place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a violent wind coming, and it
filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them parted tongues
as of fire, which settled upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak in foreign tongues, even as the Holy Spirit prompted them to speak”
Let us all say, COME HOLY SPIRIT COME.

Attention: all Maronite Youth
ages 12 through high school
This year's national Maronite Youth Retreat is "right
down the street" at the campus of Walsh University in
North Canton, Ohio.
The retreat begins Sunday July 7 and will conclude
Saturday, July 12th. John Jesser will attend as our
youth advisor, along with some of our certified jr.
advisors. One or two parent chaperons would be
helpful as well. Registrations are due by the end of
May. Please check your calendar and let's make every
effort for our Akron youth to benefit from this
wonderful spiritual and social experience. The
workshop is very valuable as we have seen many
adults and young adults from our parish credit their
teenage retreat experience as a part of how their faith
was strengthened. Registration is easy and
electronic. Only a $25 deposit is needed. The youth
group fund will be able to cover most of the remaining
cost, depending on how many attend. Please register
directly at www.maroniteyouth.org
John Jesser is available to share more details and
answer any questions at 216-536-6056
