Chapter I – Summary of the Project

1.1 Name of the Firm

The BAS Food Corporation was built by three Letranite taking up Business Management

major in Marketing Management. Felix Apreku, JM Brul and Kevin Sayoc came with the firm

name BAS by combining the first letter of their surnames. The BAS food corporation would

handle the brand name “Tutti-Puto with bavarian filled” as the main product endorsed.

1.3 Brief Description of the Project

Tourists who came to see the beauty of the historical place of Intramuros, Manila will be

given the chance to taste the all-time Filipino famous pastry puto. But here is the twist, this puto

is not an ordinary puto or steamed muffin, it has different fruity flavor puto and inside is a rich

Bavarian cream filled, really not an ordinary puto to have. But of course as a treasure of Filipino

pasty dish the team still preserve the original recipe of it.

The team behind the great idea in innovation of Filipino pasty came up with the business

name “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian Filled” derived from the famous “tutti-fruity” yogurt food

parlor.

To finance this project each of the three members would contribute time, work,

dedication and the correct allocated amount capital given to each. The profit and same as well as

the losses will be divided equally as being agreed the each of the members. The BAS Food

Corporation is not into great formality, as long as decisions are made in a cup of coffee and

everyone agreed then it will be honored.

1.4 Project Summary

1.4.1 Market Feasibility

The main market of the business is the Intramuros, Manila Location. Intramuros is

famous for its historical value. Intramuros is also a business area and a hot tourist spot. WOW

Philippines is also located inside Intramuros.

1.4.2 Technical Feasibility

The firm assures the supplies of raw materials used to produce “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian

Filled” are sufficient to supply the target area. Different suppliers around metro manila will be

contracted to supply all the business needs.

BAS Food Corporation uses cheap but quality raw materials for the possibility of cheap

but delicious and quality consumable product. For the designated price for each piece assurance

of satisfaction for each peso it cost.

The packaging has different containers depends of the amount of purchase. The firm also

has the idea of special packaging theme depending in the season.

BAS Food Corporation hires the best of the best when it comes to baking Filipino pasties.

Different requirement such as drug test, hygiene test, etc. will be conducted upon hiring

applicants to be a main baker for a “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian Filled” stall.

1.4.3 Management Feasibility

The business will of course need to hire employee and open opportunity to the people to

be a part of the team. The stall/ Food Parlor would need a professional Baker and a Cashier.

Supervisors will be the higher managers who are inside of the firm.

1.4.4 Financial Feasibility

The capital for the business is estimated Php60, 000.00 including the raw materials,

furnishings, equipments and employees salary. This will also cover the annual advertising

needed by the firm to promote the business itself.

1.4.5 Socio-Economic Impact

Profit generating business, that’s the main plan, but of course BAS Food Corporation did

not forget about being a Filipino. That is why the main product it offers is a famous Filipino

pastry. This will help to promote the Philippines and create a new and brighter image in Filipino

food category. And some time in the near future the Filipino “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian filled”

will be famous all over the world and make tourist visit the Philippines to relax and taste the

original, mouth watering and most delicious “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian filled”.

Every business is in need of employing workers. That makes every business a job

generating firm. Giving the opportunity of being hired and become a part of the firm will give

them a source of income.

As a business, the Firm assures a fair and the correct tax to pay the government. The laws

will always be practiced and applied in our business ethics.

Chapter II – Introduction/ Background of the Study

2.1 Brief Background of the study

BAS Food Corporation is handling the brand “Tutti-Puto with Bavarian filled” as being

categorized as food industry. The Firm choose “Tutti-Puto” as the main product because Puto is

an original Filipino pasty and as a proud Filipino, introducing “Tutti-Puto” to the world by

offering it to the tourist from different country who visit ours, will make puto know all over the

world.

“Tutti-Puto”: The word “Tutti” which came from the world famous “Tutti-Fruity” Brand

which offers different fruity flavor of yogurt. And “Puto” which derived from our Filipino pasty

“Puto”

2.2 Objectives of the study

The main purpose of the study is to determine if the idea of the business is feasible or

marketable in the market. The idea is new but it is not sufficient of being marketable.

The study will also show on how the business should be manage, choose its target,

promoted, how it should run and all things needed to be done before proceeding to the

actualization of the business.

2.3 Operational Definition of Terms

Puto is a steamed rice cake popular in the Philippines. It has a spongy and slightly fluffy texture.

Steaming, a popular cooking method in this country along with boiling and roasting, was

incorporated into Filipino cuisine and cooking by other Asian countries.

Rice, the main ingredient in this dish, is an important staple for the Philippines.

Muffin cups are round sheets of paper, foil or metal, with scallop-pressed edges, giving the

muffin a round cup shape. They are used in the baking of muffins to line the bottoms of muffin

tins, to facilitate the easy removal of the finished muffin from the tin.

The advantage to cooks is easier removal and cleanup, more precise form, and moister muffins;

however, using them will prevent a crust.

Mixing Bowl is a bowl used for mixing of ingredients.

Coconut milk is a sweet, milky white cooking base derived from the meat of a mature coconut.

Rice flour may be made from either white rice or brown rice. To make the flour, the husk of rice

or paddy is removed and raw rice is obtained. The raw rice is then ground to form rice powder,

also known as rice flour.

Baking powder is a dry chemical raising agent used to increase the volume and lighten the

texture of baked goods such as muffins, cakes, scones and North American biscuits.

Sugar is an informal term for a class of edible crystalline carbohydrates, mainly sucrose, lactose,

and fructose characterized by a sweet flavor. In food, sugar almost exclusively refers to sucrose,

which primarily comes from sugar cane and sugar beet. Other sugars are used in industrial food

preparation, but are usually known by more specific names glucose, fructose or fruit sugar, high

fructose corn syrup, etc.

2.4 Scope and limitation of the study

This study covers the information gathered from tourist and few by passers around the

venue WOW Philippines, Intramuros, Manila.

This will not cover further information about tourism programs and any other information

related to tourism. The study is focused about the perspective of foreign tourist about having and

trying our Filipino delicacies that the business offers.

Chapter III – Market Study

3.7.1 Product

Our main product is the all time favorite Filipino pastry “Puto” with the unique varieties of

flavors including the Bavarian filled Puto which is new to our Filipino variety of pastry.

Puto Ingredients :

1/4 c. of butter or margarine, softened (not melted)

1 c. of flour

1 teaspoonful of baking powder

5 rounded tablespoonfuls of sugar

3/4 c. of milk

4 egg whites

1/2 c. of assorted flavorings powder

Injected with Bavarian Cream

slices of any quick melting cheese

(Good for 7 pieces)

Bavarian Ingredients:

2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

1/2 cup cold water

4 egg yolks

1/2 cup white sugar

1 pinch salt

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups heavy cream

3.7.1.1 Product Category

Puto is categorized as pastry under food category.

3.7.1.2 Brand

BAS food corp. owns the brand “Tuti-Puto”. This brand name was adopted due to Puto is an

original Filipino pastry.

3.7.1.3 Packaging

The packaging for our product is divided in to three(4) kinds. Individualy, 4’s , 9’s pieces and

other larger order.

“Tuti-Puto” 4’s will be placed in a square paper box covered in a thin plastic wrap to preserve

freshness. 9’s will be place in a larger paper box wrapped in a same plastic wrap. For a larger

quantity of orders it would be placed in a box that can carry 20-30 pieces of puto.

Also “Tuti-Puto” can be purchased per piece placed in a small brown paper bag.

Our pricing is based on the sum of prices of the ingredients plus 20% additional divided to each

servings.

More likely the price value per piece is Php7.00

3.7.3 Place of distribution

“Tuti-Puto” stall will be located in the streets of WOW Philippines, Renting space if necessary.

The main target of our business is the tourist, family and students who visited the venue for

recreational value.

3.7.4 Promotions and Advertisements

For promotions and advertisements we will put up tarpaulins in front of our stall that can be seen

from afar, this is to attract many customers as possible. This is a simple but very effective

promotional/advertising strategy.
