Each cell has thousands of components – chromosomes, genes, DNA, enzymes, hormones, amino acids and thousands of various chemicals and compounds too numerous to mention. Fearfully & Wonderfully Made Psalm 139: 14

The human body has to be one of God’s greatest creations. It’s unmatched in power, capacity and adaptability. The human heart beats about 100,000 times each day. It pumps 7 litres of blood through 154,500 km of blood vessels. Equivalent to 239,000 litres

being pumped through each day.

The 7 litres of blood are made up of over 24 trillion cells that make 3 to 5 thousand trips through the body each day. 7 million new blood cells are produced every second! This pumping system has the capacity to work

non-stop for decades without missing a beat!

Looking at an individual body cell you would be even more impressed. It cannot be seen without a microscope, yet, what goes on within a cell is astounding. The wisdom of a tiny cell is said to exceed all the accumulated knowledge of the human race to date. Even the smallest cell of your body is over a billion times the size of its smallest

component.

The cell is the site of more chemical reactions than all the chemical factories in the world combined. Each cell has thousands of components – chromosomes, genes, DNA, enzymes, hormones, amino acids and thousands of various chemicals and compounds too numerous to mention. No one can explain what makes a single cell operate. The thousands of different functions can be categorised, but the force behind these functions is beyond our comprehension. And to think there are over 75 trillion of these cells working with pin-point perfection for sixty, seventy, eighty years or more.

PRAYER An American Bible College had a large number of students from other countries, it was the practice each morning in the devotional period for a different student to pray publicly in his own language. On one occasion the Dean asked a student from Australia to step forward and pray in Australian. Feeling that something special was required of him, the student went to the rostrum, bowed his head and said, “Parramatta, Chinkapook, Maroochydore, Cooee, Oodnadatta, Wagga Wagga, Billabong, Chorkerup, Patchewollock, Woolloomooloo.” And the assembled college responded with a

"We always say a prayer before eating at our house."

GOD USES IMPERFECT PEOPLE Elijah was a person just like us

Sixty years ago Brother Winter stood and gave his testimony. Nothing unusual about that but something he said that morning I have never forgotten - ‘This side of heaven God never takes our

humanity from us.’

Sometimes we get disappointed, even hurt by others and often we get disappointed in ourselves. Why? Because they and we are

human!

Being human means that sometimes we get sick or tired and may not be as nice as we usually are. Being human means that sometimes we forget to do what we promised to do. Being human means that sometimes we jump to conclusions without knowing the full story. Being human means we make mistakes and

sometimes fall flat on our face!

Being human means that we are not God - we are not perfect and this side of Heaven we never will be. The Christian grace of humility means understanding and accepting that we and others

are human and that to err is human and to forgive is divine!

COMMUNITY CARE MINISTRY: Formerly known as the League of Mercy this group visits shut-ins, hospitals and aged care centres bringing cheer and practical aid.

There is no mention of the group operating in our corps until the corps was re-formed in 1972. Since then it has been a busy and vital part of our corps outreach into the community.

Present team members are - Len Rowe who has been helping at Kirribilli (now Estia) for 17 years, Lorraine Kastberg has been part of the team since 1991, and Jean Percy has led the team since 2000. Gordon Black and Marlene Crispin are also members.

Team members feel it is time to retire and this morning we thank and honour them for their faithful service.
