FDP and WCP
TREATED PIGMENTS
Must-have treated pigments, with high consistency of the shade, no
need for color matching.
The color consistency allows you to skip the color matching stage at
the end of the manufacturing process.
FDP and WCP
TREATED PIGMENTS
Compared to the traditional treated pigments on the
market the FDP and WCP can be dispersed immediately
without any pre-milling or pre-treatment (pre-dispersion in
the lipo phase).
And… you will be surprised by the beautiful texture of the finished
product!
Technical advantages:
The Surface Treatment Technology used to manufacture the FDP and WCP pigments series gives them
exclusive and unique properties which can be appreciated in each manufacturing step.

SURFACE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY
The technology enables the treated pigments to perform in a way
the simple mixing of each color components can not do.

Technical advantages
IMMEDIATE DISPERSIBILITY
After five minutes mixing the pigments dispersion is completed
and perfectly homogeneous.
What does it mean?
You will speed up the manufacturing process: less energy and
less resources used. The dispersion phase will not be a critical
step in the manufacturing process.
* FDP and WCP treated pigments give you more freedom in the manufacturing process: the pigment phase can be added even after the emulsion formation.
** Dispersion with turbine impeller at 1000 rpm.
IMMEDIATE DISPERSIBILITY
Technical advantages
GREAT TEXTURE
FDP and WCP pigments act like texturizers: the touch and the
creaminess of the finished product are improved.
What does it mean?
By using the pigments your texture will have a great touch, a
unique sensorial profile and you won’t need to add further
texturizers.
Technical advantages
NO MILLING REQUIRED
FDP and WCP pigments do not need to be pre-mixed before use,
they can be added directly to the lipo phase.
What does it mean?
You will speed up the manufacturing process: less energy and
less resources used. The dispersion phase will not be a critical
step in the manufacturing process.
Technical advantages
NO PREDISPERSION REQUIRED
The immediate pigment dispersibility prevent the preparation of
monochromatic base to be used for the color matching.
What does it mean?
You will speed up the manufacturing process: less energy and
less resources used. The dispersion phase will not be a critical
step in the manufacturing process.
Technical advantages
TIME SPEED
FDP and WCP treated pigments are time saving.
What does it mean?
Disperse immediately, no need to premix, no need for color
matching, no need to add further ingredients like texturizers.
Count and sum the time needed to perform dispersion, premix,
color matching and texturizers addition and you will have the time
saved.
Think about the list of possible problems you could face during
those 4 steps and imagine to get rid of them!
Technical advantages
SCALABILITY
The scale up from the laboratory to the manufacturing process will
be without bad surprise: the color is the one you wanted to get.
What does it mean?
You don’t need to plan this step during a product development.
Technical advantages
COLOR CONSISTENCY
There is no color change from batch to batch.
What does it mean?
The color matching will not be necessary, as you will be sure to
get always the same shade.
Technical advantages
NO FINAL COLOR MATCHING NEEDED
The pigment color consistency makes it possible to skip
the color matching stage at the end of the manufacturing
process.
What does it mean?
You will be sure to get always the same shade.

APPLICATION/HOW TO USE
FDP and WCP, thanks to their fast dispersibility, can really shorten the manufacturing process
in terms of time and complexity (see slides 6-19 for Technical Advantages ). FDP, having a
hydrophobic silicone-surface treatment, are specifically designed for the formulation of
silicone-based products; while WCP, with a hydrophobic treatment, are suitable for non-
silicone products.
Application: type of formulation
W/S, S/W emulsions
O/W, W/O emulsions
Water-based systems (gels)
Pressed and loose powders
Application: type of cosmetic product
Liquid foundation, BB Cream, CC Cream
Concealer, Primer
Face powder
Blush
W/S or S/W emulsions application
Disperse FDP into a fluid silicone, possibly in the presence of a wetting agent. Then, add
this dispersion to the rest of the lipo phase before the emulsion step.
Otherwise, prepare the whole silicone phase (emulsifier, fluids, crosspolymers and so on)
and disperse FDP directly into that.
At lab scale, an efficient vertical stirrer equipped with a turbine impeller* is enough to get a
proper dispersion.
FDP can even be dispersed into the finished emulsion and this, together with the high color
reproducibility typical of these pigments, makes the final color adjustment not an issue
anymore.
In this case, it is advisable to apply high shear or, better, to use a homogenizer.

APPLICATION/HOW TO USE
Water-based systems application
Despite their hydrophobicity, FDP and WCP can be dispersed into water-based systems as
well (water suspensions, gel). According to our experience, we suggest to pre-wet pigments
into glycols, such as Butylene Glycol, in the presence of a hydrophilic wetting agent. Good
results can be obtained using PEG-26-PPG-30 Phosphate. This predispersion can be added
to the water phase, or water added into it.
Pressed and loose powders
They can be used like any other pigment. No particular suggestion is necessary.
APPLICATION/HOW TO USE
Generally, the following % of pigments are suggested to obtain different coverage:
High coverage: 15-20%
Medium-high coverage: 12-15%
Medium-low coverage: 8-12%
Low coverage: 5-8%
