Religious Education & Youth Ministry

Solemnity of the Ascension of Our LordJesus is going away, but He is returning to us at the end of time. He returns again in glory to the Father so that He may send the Paraclete. The word“paraclete” means “defense attorney”. If we love and serve Jesus faithfully, the Holy Spirit will defend us from the ridicules, lies and persecutions of thisworld. May we remain faithful to Christ and ever confident in the presence of the Holy Spirit until the end when He comes in glory!

Run to MaryRun, run to Mary our dearest Mother.

Cling to her all-powerful arm.Take shelter beneath her mantle;

Invoke her with all your heart and she will come,Full of compassion, to sustain your wavering strength.

-Father Luigi Guanella

From “Children’s Letters to God” by Stuart Hample and Eric Marshall:“Dear God, Here’s a poem I love you because you give us what we need to live but I wish you would tell me why you made it so we have to die.”

-Daniel (age 8)“The Ascension or return of Christ to Heaven,

In His human but glorified body, is the culmination of His work on earth, the sign and seal of His salvific mission here below. Christ, our Savior, and alsoour intimate friend, who suffered hardships, humiliations, and finally the painful and degrading death on the cross for our sakes while here on earth, is nowseated in the place of honor at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. He is there as our representative and as our intercessor. He has gone to Heaven toprepare a place there for us. He said to His Apostles (and through them to all of us) at the Last Supper: “In my Father’s house there are many dwellingplaces…I am going to prepare a place for you and then I shall come back to take you with me, that where I am you also may be.” (John 14:23)

-Father Kevin O’Sullivan, O.F.M.

GOD ALMIGHTY, WE THANK YOU FOR OUR MOTHERS, LIVING AND DECEASED. HELP THOSE ON EARTH TO IMITATE YOURSON’S MOTHER, IN WHOM YOU SHOW US PURE BEAUTY AND HOLINESS. MAY OUR DECEASED MOTHERS SHARE FULLY IN

HER JOY AND BEAUTY AS SHE BEHOLDS YOU AND YOUR SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR ETERNITY.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOMS!
