Course Description: Fundamentals of clothing construction, including the selection and use of:• sewing tools,• the sewing machine and serger, • patterns and fabrics.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

1. Successfully select and use a pattern that is designed and altered to fit individual body type to produce a garment that fits.

2. Select, use and care for equipment needed for construction of clothing.

3. Demonstrate ability to use sewing machines and serger.

4. Use safety practices with sewing equipment.

5. Demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge and development of skills related to clothing construction through unit construction of a garment.
