Our History
For nearly 40 years, Family Central has
played a pivotal role in the lives of SouthFlorida families by
strengthening the social,emotional and economic binds that
familymembers have to one another, as well as totheir
community.
Founded in 1971, Family Central initiallyprovided affordable and
quality child care toat-risk and low-income working familiesthrough
financial assistance programs.
In time, Family Central became BrowardCountys and Palm Beach
Countys soleadministrator of these programs. FamilyCentral
currently provides a variety ofeducational services in Broward,
Palm Beachand Miami- Dade Counties, and family
support services in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
Additionally, Family Central providesresource and referral
services, as well as theadministration of VPK
(VoluntaryPrekindergarten).
Family Central also serves as an ongoingtrainer to more than 800
child care providers,conducts parent education and
literacyprograms, and administers food andnutrition programs.
As a COA accredited agency, Family Centralis proud of its
national reputation forefficient and effective delivery of services
to
families in need. Last year alone, FamilyCentrals vital services
touched over 100,000South Florida children, families and childcare
providers.
