FCG-TJACH2015 Point-In-Time Comprehensive Survey Analysis
Who We Are• Founded in 2012 as a Clinton Global University
Initiative Commitment • Organized and run by Master of Public Policy
candidates here at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy
• FCG gives students the opportunity to work with community organizations to gain valuable insight into real world policy problems
• Local organizations gain the benefit of an independent policy analysis
Together, we aim to create formative change in Charlottesville.
The SurveyFCG created a 53-question comprehensive survey to be administered annually in gathering relevant data about the homeless population in Charlottesville and surrounding areas.
The survey was split into 5 sections:• Demographic • Current Living Situation• Employment Status• Received Services• Health
Survey Administration
On January 28th and 29th, groups of volunteers administered the survey across Charlottesville, including:
• The Haven• Salvation Army• PACEM overnight shelters• Soup Kitchens• The woods and streets

Cumulatively the homeless population
spent 70 nights in the UVA hospital and visited the
ER 141 times.
Health Services DataWhile 76% of respondents have no form of health insurance:
• 30% want to see a professional about physical health issues
• 18% want to see a professional about mental or emotional health issues
• 17% want to see a professional about drug or alcohol abuse issues
Next StepsFCG will be compiling a more comprehensive report explaining findings, including new data as it comes in.
We will also be creating a set of best practices for survey creation and administration.
