The Community Times Providence Living The Views at St. Joseph’s
Providence Living Name Change
Last week, we were excited to announce a new name for the owner of and operator of The Views at St. Joseph's, now known as Providence Living! The new name for Providence Living reflects consultation with residents, families, staff members, volunteers, partners and stakeholders. We want to thank everyone who took the time to help develop our new name. We deeply appreciate their perspectives, feedback and expertise in articulating what makes our organization unique.
While Providence Living is the overarching organizational name, “The Views at St. Joseph’s” will continue to be used as the site name for our long-term care home. Providence Living
is respectful of the site’s legacy and its founding order of Sisters — the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto — and
we know the community strongly relates to both The Views and St. Joseph’s names. We will be respectful of this history and want to affirm there is no desire to see The Views or St. Joseph’s names disappear. This will be on the agenda for the next Family Feedback Meeting. Other topics will include: 2nd Floor Addition, Family Visiting and New Dementia Village Announcement.

We are continuing to create a Family Visiting plan that is safe for all while adhering to the strict protocols. We
are looking at visits happening off the units in the courtyard (as outdoors has been identified as the safest
place to visit) with a schedule and time limit. We are still seeking some clarification on how to navigate who
is deemed truly “essential” and what this new order truly means as it relates to visiting in person. We invite
your feedback on this topic at our next Zoom Family Meeting. We hope to receive more clarification within the coming days. Megan Jones, our summer student,
will continue to schedule window and virtual visits. Her contact e-mail is [email protected] or
telephone 250-331-8650 extension 68789.
If at all possible, please refrain from spontaneous visits. Pre-scheduled appointments are preferable.
Thank you!

Welcome to all Residents and Family Members
to Mountainview Second Floor
We are very excited to welcome our new
residents to second floor this month. A lot of
hard work has been completed to transform
second floor into a home. Many thanks to
Chuck, Duane and the maintenance team for
their many hours of work while still ensuring
that other jobs were completed for the rest of
the building. We would also like to recognize
Nicole Crouch, Art Therapist for her amazing
artistic ability to create murals that brought the
beauty of nature back within the walls. We
would also like to thank the Comox Valley
Schoolhouse Quilters Guild for the beautiful
quilts that will adorn each bed and some of our
walls on the unit. Our Senior Operations Leader,
Michael Aikins was instrumental in leading this
project. We would like to thank his leadership
for completing the space in readiness to greet
our new residents. This is another exciting
milestone for our organization that we know
our community is very excited to hear that this
new space will be opening. We recognize that
our new residents and family members may feel
anxious about their move and we will put
supports and resources in place to assist
everyone to feel welcome during this
challenging time of covid-19. A virtual Welcome
Tea Gathering of a small group of new residents
and family members will be available at the end
of the month. An invite will be sent to our
family members to notify them of a date and
time when they can connect.
