The FTP is a worthwhile program to be a
part o in order to jumpstart your career in
the oshore oil and gas industry.
JOHN PIZZINATO, Chie Mechanic
My advice or anyone who wishes to join
the program is to believe in your abilities
and never lose the motivation to increase
your knowledge and experience using the
experienced guidance oered rom the
program supervisors.
MAZEN MAHER, Chie ET
Having worked oshore beore, it was nice
to come to a company that oered so much
in the way o training. The FTP brought me
up to speed on some o the equipment I
didnt have much experience working within the past. Also, some o the other training
courses helped me to get re-acquainted with
equipment I had already worked on beore.
Now working as Chie Mechanic, I eel bette
prepared than I would have been beore
the FTP. Now I am working as Chie on the
Roger W. Mowellwith a whole new group o
guys who all work together and get along
really well as a team.
TROY ROSE, Chie Mechanic
The Fast Track program consists o variouscomponents: Rig Assignments, Workshops,
Training and OJTs, and Reports and Evaluations.
Rig Assignments
Program participants are sent to assigned rigs
as extras to shadow the supervisors, and to
gain maximum exposure to the rig equipment,
procedures and systems. Procedures and
systems will dier depending on job unction
and may include Preventative Maintenance
Systems, Supply Chain, and HSE Policy and
Procedure, among others.
While candidates arent expected to learneverything at once, its expected that they
receive increasing levels o responsibility as
task competencies are demonstrated and learn
all aspects o the supervisory position they
are working toward. Participants are not to be
considered additional manpower or placed on a
night shit.
The opportunity or intensive mentoring
and appraisal while onboard is why the rig
assignments are so critical to advancing
Fast Track participants within the determined
timerame.
Workshops
Fast Track participants will spend time in
shore-based training acilities and participate in
workshops to gain knowledge and experience.
During workshops, participants can gain a
vast amount o hands-on experience with rig
equipment in their chosen discipline.
Training and OJTsAll participants are required to complete all
training requirements in the Worldwide Training
Matrix, particularly On-the-Job Training
modules, in the shortest-possible timerame.
Participants are expected to be aware o all
their requirements and work with rig RSTCs to
complete rig-based OJTs in a timely manner.
Reports and Evaluation
Participants are required to complete and
submit weekly Activity Reports to their mentors.
Supervisors are expected to support with
additional inormation and progress reports.
Ater rig assignments, end-o-hitch evaluations
must be completed by the participant and the
rig OIM.
Prior to graduating rom the Fast Track Program,
participants must pass a fnal evaluation
conducted by an OIM oshore and a Fast Track
Coordinator.
Program Duration
The Fast Track program may be ast-paced, but
its not a race. It can take anywhere rom six
to 18 months to complete your program, with
the average program duration at 12 months.
Participants completing the Subsea or Chie
Electronic Technician tracks can expect an
18-month program due to rig time and courses.

The FTP provided me with an opportunity
achieve the level o Chie Electrician withTransocean in the shortest possible time
span. The FTP training courses covering
everything rom saety to motor control
systems were all proessionally presented by
experienced instructors and included a lot
o hands-on modules. Even with previous
deep level mining and Merchant marine time
the oil industry presented its own unique
challenges. The time spent on dierent
rigs shadowing the Chie Electrician gives
you a real eel or what you can expect on
the job and also the expectations o the rig
personnel rom you. The FTP provided me
with the skills and condence to assumethe role o Chie Electrician in India, where I
am thoroughly enjoying my career change
with Transocean thanks to the FTP.
CHARLES MCARTHUR, Chie Electrician
I ound the FTP challenging and rewarding.
During the FTP I completed many courses,
which assist me both practically and
theoretically with my duties as a Chie
Electrician. During my time in the FTP, I was
able to experience working in the shipyard
as well as dierent types o rigs and vessels,
which extended my knowledge and skills as
an electrician.DAVID YATES, Chie Electrician
