TheCollegeofDesign,Architecture,Art,andPlanning(DAAP)attheUniversityofCincinnatiinvitesapplicationsforastaffpositioninthetop-rankedSchoolofDesign(SoD)attherankofFashionTechnologyAssociate.TheCollegeofDAAPhasasitsprimarymissionthecreationofabetterculturalanddesignenvironment.TheSchoolofDesign’sroleinadvancingthatmissionistoprepareourapproximately700undergraduateandgraduatestudentstoberesponsibleprofessionalsandcitizensinacomplexandevolvingworld.Weachievethisthroughadistinctive,rigorous,carefullysequencedcurriculumthatincludesasubstantialcooperativeeducationprogramcomponentdatingback100years.Thiscurricularmodel,expressedinclassrooms,researchlabs,andprofessionalofficesallovertheworld,integratespracticeandtheory.Itinspiresinterdisciplinaryprojectsandbuildssolidcorporatepartnerships,andcontributestoourstrengthasaleadingdesigninstitution.TheFashionDesigncurriculumcoversallfacetsoffashiondesign,technicaldesign,textiles,designresearch,fashionillustration,andproductdevelopment.Studentsarepreparedforcareersinfashiondesign,includingappareldesign,technicaldesign,CADdesign,productdevelopment,andtrendforecasting.TheFashionTechnologyCenter,acomprehensivesuiteoflabfacilitiesindevelopment,innovationandproduction,supportsstudents’abilitiesandcreativepursuitsthroughindustrystandardmachinery,softwareandtechnology.EssentialFunctionUnderthesupervisionofDAAP,SchoolofDesignandFashionDesignDepartmentadministrators,theFashionTechnologyAssociatewillplan,design,evaluate,modify,andcoordinateprogrammingfortheFashionDesignProgramstudiospaces,technology,equipmentandassets.PrimaryDuties

• ManagethedailyoperationsoftheFashionDesignProgramfacilities,technologyandassets(studiospaces,equipment,sewingmachinery).

• Plan,design,evaluate,modify,andcoordinateprogramsfortheFashionDesignstudios,facilitiesanddepartment.Including,butnotlimitedto,fashiondepartmentoutreachefforts,theannualfashionshow,etc.

• Design/createandconductseminars,workshopsandprogramsrelatedtofashiondesign,fashionproduction,craft,andfashiontechnology.

• Developprogramobjectivesandmonitorquantitativeandqualitativedataonprogresstowardsobjectives.Reviewobjectivestoidentifyproblemsandsolutions,prioritizesolutionsanddevelopactionplansforprogramimprovement.

• Researchandanalyzerelevantindustrypracticesandtechnologiesinordertodevelopnewprogrammingandproposeprogramchangesandtechnology/machineryacquisitions.

• Developandimplementtrainingeffortsrelatedtodepartmentalassetsandtechnologies.• Maintainthefunctionalityofstudioassets.Specifically,industrialsewingmachinery,consumablesand

supplies.• Assistindevelopingbudgets,monitoringexpenditures,preparingfundingproposals,orderingsupplies,

andpreparingperiodicreports.• Supportstudenteffortsincraft/sewing,garmentproductionandtechnicaldevelopment.• Supervise,recruit,train,schedule,andevaluateTA’s/Co-Op’s,includingstudentsupportstaff.• Performrelateddutiesbasedondepartmentalneed.

MinimumQualifications

• Bachelor'sdegreewithone(1)yearofexperience;-OR-Associate'sdegreewiththree(3)yearsofexperience;-OR-five(5)yearsofexperience.

PreferredQualifications

• Master’sorbachelor’sdegreeinFashionDesignorarelatedfieldwithinappareldesign,productionand/ordevelopment.

• 5+yearsofrecentandrelevantindustryexperienceinappareldesign,developmentand/orproduction.• Experiencemustbeinfashiondesign,fashionproductdevelopment,fashionproduction,orarelated

functionwithintheapparelindustry.• Excellenttrainingandfacilitationskillsalongwiththeabilitytopresentcomplexandtechnicallysound

materialclearlyandeffectively.• Workingknowledgeofcontemporaryindustrypracticerelatedtogarmentconstruction,manufacturing

practicesandqualitycontrol/craft.• Experiencemanagingsupplies/materials/consumablesandbudgets.• Experiencecollaboratingwithmultiplestakeholdertosolvecomplexproblemseffectively.• Demonstratedabilitytousevaryingstyles,approaches,skillsandtechniquestocommunicatewithvarious

constituents(e.g.,faculty,staff,students)withdiversebackgroundsandexperiences.• Abilitytoteachcourseswithinthefashiondesignprogram.
