Farzana

I, an alien in your world,

You, a familiar voice in my confusion,

Me, lost from all that I called home,

You, a lamp to guide my way.

Starlight, sunrise and sea, a perfect backdrop,

To a release of joy and tentative wonder,

A rising on foam-flecked wings of a question,

Impossibly unanswerable, amidst the chains of the real.

Sometimes, we can dream, two fragments

In a world of the possible,

Joining hands and floating on a cloud of unknowing,

Rising, ever rising, to a place unseen.

Sometimes, dreams can carry a power,

To push back life’s walls of spears,

Sometimes, we realise those spears are an illusion,

A hiding place, for fear of what’s within.

You

I exist because of You,

I live to live within You,

You are boundless, I incomplete,

You are the sea, and I, a stream.

But still you reach into me

Pick me from the crowd and lift me,

To heights anew, unfettered, free,Reveal new dawns for me to see.

Why do I try to encage You?

Why do I use You, like a cunning servant?

Why do we enclose your jewels, your handiwork?

And why, are we deaf to your weeping heart?

Fear and the mistrust were not left in the garden,

They blossomed forth to all that we humans are,

We fear the unbounded force of You, within,

We remain drops for fear of the sea.

The Lover

Let me ride upon Your foam-flecked waves,

I want to meld with all that Your hand does,

Not my own droplet or secure stream,

But a part of Your sea, wild, unfettered.

Your life in me, Your life me,

Loving master and willing slave,

The lover in a heaven of love,

You the transformer, me, the transformed.

Yes, I believe that You are who You say You are,

You are, Him who is,

The source: the light, the sky and the sea,

Draw from You, who will never thirst.

One day I will meet you in the skies,

Yes, You, all in all and I in You,

Today, is that day as I say yes,

You are my God, there will be no other.

Autumn

Deeper into its mystery,And deepest soul’s Delight,

as the wonder of its dying shame

Is bathed in softening light.

As sunset darkens browning leavesAnd the peace of night descends.

Can your soul rest in that moment? That peace that never ends.

In death and ends, I’ve found rest,For the fears and strivings cease,

And in that place of darkness,I’ve glimpsed the endless peace.

Your soul will know the morning,Again, you’ll feel its light,

So don’t fear sunset’s fading’And don’t you fear the night.

Aidan

“And I will give him a white stone andon the stone

A new name written which no oneknows except himWho receives it.”

Questions linger at the twilight,Earth’s dark marrs eternal glory,We walk, as through a cloudy, starlit

night,As His spirit whispers a different story.

He calls, like a bird that sings the dawn,

With His piercing song of love,Blessing those dear hearts that mourn,Calling to His home above.

The secret name that He will write,In love, on His white stone,

Is the identity in eternal light,We live around His throne.

We dwell, already, in that place,Though the shadow clouds our vision,

And you will see your Aidan’s face,

When He ends, on earth, your mission.

Beck

A dancer at the gates of dawn,Wandering on distant shores,

Bright star, on the darkest night,Exploring through forbidden doors.

The key to wonders clasped inside,A heart made strong through pain,Faith in the one who came to earth,

And rose to heaven again.

But dance, for moon is nearly spent,And the starlight waits to call,

The sun from wandering her paths,She takes at each nightfall.

And dance you will, for life itself,

Depends on the release,Of souls of fire that stand between,Dawn’s glow and starlight’s peace.

Bethel

“Then he (Jacob) dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up

on the earth, and its top reached heaven; and there the

angels of God were ascending, and descending on it.”

Genesis 28, 12

Zeal for your house has consumed me,

My heart longs for your dwelling place.

For only in your presence do I know peace,

And only within your walls, the world’s voices cease.

Angels ascend and descend upon You,

On You, the powers of heaven flow down,Let me live in that place of wonder,

Where the veil upon the nations is torn asunder.

One thing I have desired, yes I will seek,

To live in Your house all the days of my life.

Holding You firm in my brother’s heart,

We will be Your house, and never part.

Real love is bright,A ripple, a glimpse in the river of light.

A healing source,A touch of heaven in empty darkness.

Love is of the day:As dark passion rules the night,Love unfolds His healing plan;

Making whole the broken.

Love is the sunrise,I awake to its gentle birdsong,

I rise in its glistening dew,I find myself anew, in You

Ecclesiastes 3:11

There is a flower in the human heart,

That frost cannot dismay,

Life’s cares can only crush the parts,Reborn at each new day.

The hurts and woes of the daily walk,

Are soil in which it grows,

And if you listen to its voice,

A new road it will show.

A new path to eternity,

Out of the valley wide,The mists of disappointment,

That mock and taunt and chide.

Yes, a flower rests in the human heart,

That loves to hope and sings,

A song that bounds infinity,With hope that new dawn brings.

Fabienne

The bus ride to the YS School,One of my life’s formative moments,Out in the Mediterranean wildness,

Adrift, but for my golden protectoress.

You towered above me, in height, in wisdom,No dark-eyed menace could reach me,

Protected by your blue-eyed stare,Sheltered, in your limitless understanding.

Years pass and childhood’s images shatter,Sometimes for bad, some unto deeper wisdom, Yes, you’re not the biggest person on earth,

But, I will always know peace when you are near.

Fear

Fear of the forces of an inner world,

Of dark dreams and unchained emotions,

Keeps us from a meeting of hearts,

A fruitful melding of minds.

No man is an island and life,

Is only enriched by spirit’s contact,Releasing the walls of heart and emotions,

That keep us in our mutual prisons.

How can I fly into your spirit?

How can we fly together into starlight,

Walk, like angels in heaven in the purest world,

Of bright light and engulfing wonder.

Reach out to me as I reach out to you,

What will we find beyond our fears within?

What new worlds can we explore?

What life beyond the dreams of darkness?

New Shackles

Yes, I fear new shackles, new prisons,But the shackles are within,

A freedom realised at Digha and Shantiniketan,

Can be lived in Daventry and Oxford.

The freedom was won at Calvary,

An inner freedom to be lived in wonder,

That’s crafted by our Father,

Living gardener of the tree of life.

I am that tree of life, or part therein,

A jewel in the hand of my Maker,A carved ornament, first displayed,

Then released to do His bidding.

Let me sing your song, beloved,

Your song must sing through me,

You have much to do in me,

Only, for your inner force do I await.

Phoebles, you are very small,Now, smaller than a Hobbit,

You’re always having piles of fun,

You get your food and lob it!

You spread it out upon your face,And chuck it at the wall,

Ignoring Mummy’s angry cries, You jump down from your stool!

O what can we do with you?To lead you on the path,

Life is more than having fun,And messing up the bath!

But who knows, where life can lead?Who knows its twists and turns?

Listening to Mum and Dad and Uncle Jake,Our little Phoebes will learn.

Sahara

I walk amidst the far flung dunes,

I’m blinded by the desert sun,

In thirst I’m crying out to You,

Wanting to hide, to rest to run.

But still this thirst it drives me on,

Vain beauty stalks my every turn,

I long to be made gold through flame,

And all my dross to ashes turn.

A sight, a vision drives me onward,

A mirage in this endless waste,

Projections, of a dark subconscious,

Within this furnace to be faced.

A jewel, I’m made upon this journey,

That glitters in the myriad light,

And thirsty, dying find the river,

The fountain unto endless life.

Sam, the quintessential genteel Libyan,

We stand aghast at your wistful, mystic air,

As your culinary wonders touch deep,

Our hidden needs for the wild, and esoteric.

Words you need, but what literary masterpiece,

Could express the exotic meridian sunrise,

Evoked, by your swarthy, otherworldly demeanour,

And your wondrously, unsurpassable cuisine.

Your eyes speak a plaintive song,

Heart’s longing to run on Arabian sands,

In a mystic quest for a soul serene,

Wading in waters of sun-kissed lands.

You are the dawn upon the Green,

An endless source of dreams unseen.

A Guru that guides to obscured shores,

And unfolds keys to forbidden shores.

Sophie

You once, were very small,And now you’re very tall,

What a manic girl you’ve been? But now, calm and serene.

Yes, it’s hard to say, Your beauty’s growing by the day,

To many countries been,So many sights have seen.

So, what does the future hold,For my funky niece so bold?

What pleasures lie ahead,What tales one day be said?

Of Soph, the wild, the bold,Watch the wondrous tale unfold.

Yeah, you’ll make the odd mistake,But, you’ve always got your Uncle Jake!

Star-Dancer

One night, stars called me higher,

Leaping forth like flames of fire,

Calling deep my one desire,“Come rise up beyond life’s mire.”

Rising upon the wings of sleep,

I was called from darkness deep,

Walking tall, amidst the light,

Leaving dead, the ghouls of night.

And the rain, that falls aglow,

Its radiant inner light did show,

And in its rising life and flow,

A new wondrous hope I know.

Dancing, dancing wild and free,

He calls to me, endlessly,

And falling in that light I see,

The one, whose love is changing me.

The light shines in the darkness and

The darkness does not comprehend it.

A light shines in our hearts which

The sin within cannot smother.

Like a fire burning in an abandoned house,

Or glowing coals on a long dead hearth,

Your life is mysterious and unstoppable,

A force to despise but never ignore.

The overwhelming force of your holy love,

Will burst forth from within and be drunk,

By the thirsty, those trapped in a darkness,

Of lonely, sordid and twisted shame.

The light will shine in the darkness and

The darkness will not comprehend it.

Nor will we as the lights bearers, just trust

As Your light flames forth from within.

I thirst, for things near their completion,

I thirst, for Spirit, soon outpoured,I interceed, amidst the darkness,

Page 11: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

In hunger for the hearts of men.

I thirst, for love to fill their innards,

And thirst, that man would be made new,

I thirst, for bursts of loving kindness,

To coat this earth like morning’s dew.

Thirsty, I stand before You Father,

An Advocate for this dying place,

That rivers flow out from my wounding,

A torrent to fill fear’s empty space.

You thirst, for love that only I give,

You thirst, my agony within,

You thirst, and join with me in weeping,

For a future world released from sin.

Theotokos

So be it, it has begun,

My agony, so long foretold.

The son of my womb,

In a place where I cannot comfort.

This is a time for dignity,

I appear calm, though inwardly I scream,

Why the blood, and so much hate?

Such a brutal end to my child of peace.

The flesh I bore within me,

Now marred beyond human form,

Jeering voices add to His humiliation,

My son, end this, I cannot take it.

My blood boils, I cannot contain my anger,

But He is there, and His peace,Calms my soul; So now you

Lead me, my son, my saviour.

Crushed by His cross, my cross,

He stumbles, and I explode,

Bursting forth to hold Him,

Crowds, soldiers irrelevant, my son, my son.

It has begun, yet it is finished,

My son this is your hour of glory,

A sword is piercing my heart,So be it, into your hands I commit Him.

The Words

The words that I have spoken

Will judge you on the last day.

They will chase you, like a fire in the soul,Driving you onwards to an eternal dawn.

When all ends, My words,

Will remain, a light in a dark place,

Shining unto the full light of noon,

Waiting to heal and transform.

Listen, listen, my testimony speaks,

Within the spirit of souls of fire,

Blazing a light of creative passion,

Needing humble, dry word to burn.

Burn, my word is like a fire,

Its fuel, the emptiness within,

Killed at Calvary and raised by the glory,

Of Him who speaks, tremble at His Word.

Hordes

Hordes of suffering people,

Call, with their sad eyes,

And tears, and tattered rags.

Set on borders in far-flung places,

Despised and unenvied races,

Searching for the pure for liberation.

Hordes of suffering people,

Crowd the edge of consciousness,In the ordinary and the mystery.

They call to give my life meaning,

To be poured out into a glass,

That will never be full.

Everywhere, your eyes oppress me,

They pull my soul onward,

In their darkness, would I be complete?

Yoni

What do you say to the dude,

Who has got it all?Good looks, brains and sporting skill,

It’s enough to make you feel quite ill.

He’s the apple of his parent’s eye,

And to his friends, so free, so fly.

Tell me what this boy’s not got?

Nothing! This dude’s got the lot!

G-d has got a plan for him,

That’s why He gave him everything.

A plan, to walk and run, be free,

Held in His hand, eternally.

So run and let the wind take you,

His mercy will see you through,To walk upon the heights so tall,

Under His wing, never to fall.

A New Day

Your allowed to be nervous,

These are new days!

The sun, ever rising,Painting new ways.

Her light sending tingles,

Through your aching soul,

But giving them to Him,

Your heart’s made whole.

Upon this new day,

Page 14: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

Your called into light,

To forget the voices,

That whisper in the night.

For, there’s fire transforming,

It, awaits your hand,

He is waiting for your touch,

To pull you to dry land.

ANDYLOVE IS A PROCESS,

IT STARTS FROM WITHIN,

ITS A VOICE, CALLING,DEEP, FROM DARK CREVICES,

ITS A FIRE BURNING BRIGHTLY,FUELLED BY SHATTERED DREAMS.

ITS THE FATHER’S TENDER TOUCH,UPON THE DESERT INSIDE.

A BURNING-UP, A TRANSFORMATION,A NEW SOUL, TENDER, FREE.

  Beck

Walk tall and see,

In love and be,Healed but restless, worn but free.

Greatness is a giving spirit,Yielded to Almighty God,

Anger tempered by angelic peace.

Let justice burn, your heart turn,To an oasis of strength,Food for a crying world.

Daydreaming

A little girl’s life is not easy,

And many times people have said, That it is one big frustration,

Page 15: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

From the moment she gets out of bed.

She greets the day with a bubbly laughAnd dances her way through it all,

But there’s all sorts of ‘orrible people,Who cause little Christie to fall.

Mainly, its those nasty teachers,And horrible bleeders at school,

Who make a young girl do homework,And other things that aren’t so cool.

Why can’t life be more simple?More time for resting and play.

Why must they teach her this nonsense? And ruin her bubbly day.

Why can’t her life be spent dancing? In front of an appreciative crowd,

Who love every move that she makes,And at the end, clap very loud!

Why can’t she be an explorer? And travel across jungles and seas,

Telling those nasty lions and snakes,‘Keep your fangs to yourselves, if you please!’

Maybe her future’s in football,And in time we, maybe, could see,

A new blond-haired, pretty striker,From whom all the greatest do flee.

But what for the call of the mermaid? She’s certainly got the long hair,

But for salty water and that fishy tail,I don’t think young Christie would care.

So for now she must go to school,And write down all this bland stuff,

A life so far from her dreams,

So boring and nasty and rough.

But Christie is free in her thoughts, To imagine and follow her dreams,

And keep her teachers alert,By thinking up great, wicked schemes!!!

Once I met a giraffe,In a jungle far away,And I still remember,

Page 16: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

What that beast did say.

‘Where’s my old mate Julian?

I’ve missed him for a while,He’s got caught in his problems,

Of which he’s got a pile.’

‘He’s stopped his saucy japes & laughs,Now, problems fill his life,

And him with all his funky mates,

And of course, his lovely wife.’

So matey, come now fight this thing, Tell those problems, off to sod,

‘Cause if this monk continues,I’ll have to suggest God !!!!

Glenys

I dreamed one day of a new land, The water and air of which,

Caused my scars to disappear,Deep into my battered lungs it came,

Making each step firmer, stronger and more secure.

I was a new woman, singing, laughing,

And dancing upon a new mountain,On which, a new vision unfolds,Of a life new and free, my pain,

Transformed into a house of healing.

A river ran, to and from the house,Filled with water shining silver and then deep red,

Flowing from my hill of vision,Where my pain departs,

And my life renews, each day.

Page 17: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

I screamed, ‘don’t let me wake,Back into the nightmare of my fear.’

And a voice said, ‘you needn’t awake,

For many wander in this dream,Hold their hands and walk into tomorrow.’

Glenys

Let flow, the water of love,In a river of acts of kindness,

Gone, the rocky fears, in

Cascading, faith-filled, blindness.

Love makes His pool, with subtle force, That flows from high above,

Pounding through rocky hardness,Forming lagoons of love.

It sprays a joy, that streams wildly,From a solid, rock-carved height,

A rainbow flashes through its surf,With streaming foam-filled light.

Let flow, the water of love, The roaring foam, then stillness,

A peace amidst the torrent, Your heart transformed in newness.

Home

At home in a strange land,

At rest in a world, unfamiliar,

The call to the secure,

At once, strange and uninviting.

Why, has this city called me,

Picked me up and drawn me to her bosom,

Washed me in a million, myriad stares,

And proudly taken me for her own?

What smells, what sounds, what joys,Reflected in a thousand blinding colours?

Page 18: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

And, the lure of a curious response,

‘Enrich, enrich, this glorious pageant’.

Where? Relates to who, am I?

To walk the frenetic pathways of the City of Joy,

My mind awashed with endless wonder,Yes, who am I, to dispute that word home?

Hours of resting darkness,On silence covered ground,Only the birds as they sing,

Disturb the peace, profound.

Others join to sing the dawn,Dancing at the sunrise,

They must reach their source of life,And let him hear their cries.

They cry out at this callous world, This anger drives them on,As the crackling light within, Turns this to gentle song.

A song of mystic quality,Of wonder’s freeing force,

Fount of accepted mystery,Now free to run its course.

A course of deeper, freeing love, That touches questing hearts,

And builds a pool of crystal peace, That soothes their deepest parts.

Eyes of Light

Waves of light are moving,

Can you feel the flow?

Touching people’s darkest parts,

Only the wise men know.

They see changes in atmosphere,

With eyes that pierce the dark,

Movers, shakers, touching deep,

Making sure their mark.

A force of light, raging fierce,

Against the walls of fire,

Calling to their friends around,

Leave darkness and walk higher!

Let your spirit free to love,

Let in the healing light,

Walking strong against the tide,Enter the cosmic fight.

MilleniumAn eternal ocean of newness,

A white flame into a bright future, The sands of time slip, slowly by,

As Love prepares His eternal dream.

Destiny, its plan at last revealed,Eternity marred by man's false hope,Don't search for the fading twilight,

Only His sea can unchain your heart.

Myrrh

Myrrh, the weaver of dreams,

Crafted by a dying master,Love-sourced suffering, woven,

A dream spun in strands of truth.

Myrrh, a bitter herb,

A vision of pain in salvation,

You can lose your soul in dreams,

But His vision will weave tomorrow

A Man and a Woman

A man and a woman,Have formed a home,

To him, respect, she will give,And honouring her, he will live.

The crowd, they mock and snigger,At the premature flight,

Of wingless birds,Today they soar, and tomorrow?

Love, they sneer among laughter, Just romantic turbulence,As the calendar whispers,

Love was and evermore sha’ll be!

Where will they learn stability?

And, where, how to persevere? If the school of life,

Is a school of maybes.

The years will soon pass,And will that love survive?

Sparkling fresh and sprightly,Or a spring plant that withers.

Doubtless, the cruel years,Will leave footprints on the body,

However, the soul will remain,Its sparkle enduring.

Because they have a secret,Which is not a dream nor passing fancy,

The foundation of this love,Is a rock without equal.

He is the rock of ages, Jesus, a life poured out,

On the pinnacle of calvary,Spilling love and truth.

These souls that today are joined,No force will destroy them,

For them, the love of cavalry,First sighed his deepest longings.

The crowds will not laugh, Jesus, living, here and now,

Is joined to these souls,One day stretching to eternity.

A man and a woman,

Today form a sweet home,A home that God blesses,

A home overflowing with peace.

The Pyramid

Love, the substance of creation,

A building, its stones fashioned,In the sandy hues of dead emotion.

The pinnacle, stretching to heaven,Cutting the moonlit grave,A mountain of dying pride.

Sun beats on desert lands,Forming gold amidst darkest gloom,This dying yet glorious monument.

A monument spanning heaven,Spraying light on desert sands,

The aura of death in the fragrance of creation.

RUDE DISCIPLE‘Jesus calls some funny blokes,’

His choices make me think He calls the boring and the wild,

Even blokes that stink!

At times, he picks a special bloke,

For his team, to be a friend,

A guy so full of vibrant life,

You could say, round the bend.

A bloke so full of energy,It winds the stuffy up,

So good at asking why, why, why?

So crap at getting up!

But would we have him different,

Such a deep and crazy bloke?

Always there for a kick in the leg,

Or some other sadistic joke.

I could go on about him,

Page 22: Farzana I, An Alien in Your World, You, A Familiar

For there is so much to this guy,

And who can tell the future,

As, in God he learns to fly?

He is such a cherished part of us,Though he gets grumpy and is often late,

But let us all forgive him,

And all say,’....Alright......Mate.’

Follow now and take my hand, Your destined path to show,

I’ll steady you on rocky roads, To caves of mystic glow.

Your heart will see a cavernfair,

With crystal sheen surrounded,And drink of mystery beautiful,

 The fount from which isfounded.

A shining river flowing forth, That strains for its release,

 To barren wastes hemming itround,

With hearts crying for peace.

So come, its hard, but come

indeed,As wonders great await you,Brushing shadows from your

past,My hand will make your soul

new.

 To Sid

Man’s path is often twisted,Life’s roads are seldom straight,

You hardly see the grand design,Until its far too late.

So there’s no use in worry, Just let your spirit lead,

And you will find a pathway, That will give you all you need.

So,Sidney, don’t be fearful,Of what the future brings,

And keep your eyes on friendship,

Peace,love and joyous things.

 Left Behind

“Messieur Le Gendarme, I am fully with the Liberal ideas of Modern Europe,

But this takes the biscuit, Some smelly Youth of Arabic origin has burnt mon

automobile!”

Left behind, get on your bike and make it work,

Its all here for the taking,

Hard work and an open heart,

Can win you all things.

You can have the myriad consumer goods,

And live a secure ideal, walking in the park,

Your children with a blossoming future,

Who forget all they were for the western dream.

But whose dream?Enclaves of hate lie in every town,

Full of those who would say “no”,

Full of those left behind.

Informed, by satellite and Internet,

What they could have,

But barred, forever, by forces within,

That empty place overflowing with hate.

There are no easy answers,

They are sores on the capitalist dream,

A manageable embarrassment, containable

Amidst the right balance of lies and violence.

Left behind, a new scheme, CRS, whatever,

Just get the implications out of our face,

Lets live our tolerant dream, until the river,

Bursts its banks and consumes it all.

Your Freedom

I am free to live humanly,

To dream in Your great dream,

And love within Your one vision,

Of a new, bonded humanity.

I am free to walk in peace,

Knowing the restraining power of love,

As He strains and pulls and pushes within,

Driving me to a new dawn in a world remade.

I am free to stare into your eyes,

Spirit touching spirit, walls tumbling,

And fears evaporating, that keep us caged,

In prisons of security and suspicious comfort?

I am free to sing, passion’s song,At the dawn of your new day,

To blaze within the flames of Your fire,

And live, a column of incense, rising to You.

Searching

You we’re searching for me,

Your goal, your prize lay in this doomed frame,A jewel so precious, worth Your life’s blood,

Substance of sky and sea, shed, to win me.

Through continents of wonder, and a

Thousand, myriad, sordid adventures,

You staked your claim and called me in,

Like a wounded bird, to a place of warmth and comfort.

You made my home in your bosom,

A heart broken for my love, was my resting-place.

Though still I run from your engulfing warmth,

I stray out amidst the call of a thousand seductions.

Endlessly You call me back, Your broken heart,

A refuge from any storm, for any man,

A treasure store of endless comfort, to those,

Who’d rest, and be caught, by boundless love.

The Call

The call to prayer, high from eastern minarets,

Touches my soul, through a thousand myriad visions,

Of esoteric visions and inner ecstatic wonder,

Exploding, to a fiery love for a missing truth.

Rhythmic poems in beauteous eastern voices,

And flowing robes with mysterious veiled women,

Sound in my inner being, the call to adventure,

To burst forth as the sword of my Lord,

Endless kingdoms to conquer lie eastward,

Christ’s jewels lie scattered, enmeshed in a beguiling beauty,

That bathes their souls in a false peace,

A prison that touches mystery and chains so consumingly.

La ila allah Allahu, no Lord but He,Who speaks forth into my soul,

God is love and His love burns in me,

And carries me to proclaim His voice in the darkness.

Strange

Strange, I do what I do,

But, often not what I want to do,

Though who is me who does these things?

And who is me that wants them not?

Part of me longs to rest in the unconfused,

The sordid, warm and unintense.

Simple thrills, simple guilt, a throwback

To a simple age of instant gratification.

Life is a confusing thing and,

I’ve equipped myself, on all fronts, for victory,

But sometimes, the lure of the ignoble loser,

Pulls me down and ever down, to a pit of sordid comfort.

Jake, look around at that pit, don’t explore it,

Or one day it will explore you.

Destroy the secret hut of your shame,

Before it fans out and pulls you to its sordid lair.

Shepherd

Shepherd, Shepherd, soul’s delight,

Come lead me to your peace,The restless voice of this world’s cares,

It never seems to cease.

Come grab my hand and lead me through

The questions in my head,

Make my heart at peace in You,

And leave the rest unsaid.

Lord of Tides

I fear to walk into your majesty,

Though my heart longs for your mystery,

Your waves, churning up my soul,

Move, the very depths of me.

Your power, Lord of tides, washes over me,

Cleansing the pages of my history,

Desiring to drown in your deepest part,

As salted pain remakes my crying heart.

Moving deeper in, fearing lost control,

Of the strands that keep me feeling whole,

Wanting to drift, fearless in you,

Reborn at bright day’s dawning new.

Sea of love help me to trust,

Fear still stands but know I must,

Let your sun and waves seep in,

A fresh walk into dawn begin.

Caught Between two Worlds

Lost amidst two goldmines,

Two cultures rich and endlessly rewarding,But, seemingly, cut off from both,

And doomed to wander, lost without a home.

Walking in the nether world, The darkness that lies on the edge, Throwing dreams of success away,

To inhabit a world of crime and violence.

A thousand beauties in their hearts,Visions of Kashmir, Punjab or Pathan lands,

And the language of poets, leaping from their tongues, They walk in the only darkness they call home.

Rise-up, children of the modern age,Grab the best of both worlds,

And walk with Him who walked the dark roads,And in Him, be, a testimony to the coming age.

Bethlehem

O Little town of Bethlehem,How still we think you lie,

Maker of peace, you came to live,But now your children die.

In the dark streets are sounding,Gunfire and cries of woe,

Gone, the sounds of mercy,Hatred’s seeds they sow.

Arab children crying,Their father’s gun hands quiver,

Fierce soldiers praying to their God,Can He still deliver?

Jehovah, Allah, Jesus Christ,Three corners in the fight,

Hopes and fears and children’s tears,Flow in you, tonight.

Lizzie

When I look at you,

I see the light of Jesus,

Through look, talk and innocent gesture,

His presence shines forth, through a broken canvas.

Body and soul, cracked through

One thousand decisions to labour for Him,

As He bursts out from the wounds,

Of ten thousand fiery darts.

He is in you, and He touches my soul,

Through smile, wisdom and look of concern,

Ubiquitous husband that looms above His brides’

Devotion, in body, soul and spirit; to Him, alone.

Certain souls push beyond the bounds,

Push and live outside the camp, where most dare not,

There, in pain, they meet Him, who walked before,And their very life, calls, calls to those who’d listen.
