Dialoguewith CEO
Although February is the month of our National celebrations we believe in
Allah’s fatalism, but we are very sad at the beginning of this month, that a
person who is very dear to us as well as to the Kuwaiti people in addition
to Oil Sector in particular died. He is Sheikh Saud Al-Nasser who has the
stable stances and glorious deeds.
All these glorious deeds have great effects on the spirits of Kuwaitis during
the Liberation of Kuwait, as well as in the period of reconstructing the Oil
Sector; Allah may bestow his mercy on him and abide him in his great
paradise.
In this month I am happy to extend my best congratulations and blessings
to you on the occasion of our National Days, the 51th anniversary of the
Independence of our beloved Kuwait and 21st anniversary of Liberation.
I have also the good chance to entreat to Allah to bestow his mercy on the
souls of our beloved martyrs who sacrificed themselves for Kuwait.
On celebrating our National Day, I’m very glad to refer to the most
important achievements in the last period and to our visit to China which
concentrated on the massive projects which KPC intends to establish there.
These projects are greatly supported by H.E the Minister of Oil as well as
the top-officials in KPC, owing to their economic importance. Furthermore
there was an agreement between the two sides to come back to the
negotiation-table to deal with the outstanding problems and discuss means
of meeting the desires of all parties either economically, environmentally
or the strategically in the long range.
The Kuwaiti delegation’s talks with the Chinese side were fruitful and led
to an agreement to resume the constructive dialogue as well as to form a
special team from KPC and Sinopec to discuss new means which originate
a suitable situation to the both sides throughout the refinery joint-project,
in addition to the petrochemicals project which is intended to be established
in China.
As for the delegation’s visit to Vietnam, it was agreed to resume the two side-
talks again in Kuwait after the Vietnamese side expressed their readiness to
overcome all the difficulties which face financing the project.
In fact, we look forward to fulfilling more achievements in the future and
to head towards executing the oil sector 2030 strategy which will have a
great effect on the economy of our beloved Kuwait.

The Liberation Ambassador passes away, ALLAH may
bestow mercy upon him
Death has taken away one of the Kuwait
best men who sacrificed every dear and
precious thing to keep the flag of kuwait
flying high, he is Sheikh Saud Naser Al-
Sabah who was one of the prominent he-
roes of Kuwait liberation. He was also
one of the most prominent Oil Ministers
who shouldered the responsibility in hard
economic and political circumstances but
he could lead the oil sector safely in these
circumstances,
Bright Career
Sheikh Saud was born on one day of Oc-
tober in the autumn of194 .His primary
education was in Kuwait then he went to
Lebanon to complete his intermediate and
secondary education .He joined the Faculty of Law in UK and
graduated in 1968 to work in the British courts at the period of
field- training .
Sheikh Saud worked in the Legal Department at the Diwan of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1969. He represented Ku-
wait many conferences but in 1981, Sheikh Saud , the youth, was
the Kuwaiti Ambassador in UK as well as a non- resident ambas-
sador in Sweden, Norway and Denmark In 1981, he offered his
credentials to US previous president Ronald Reagan as Kuwaiti
ambassador in USA. He was charged with the acting non- resi-
dent ambassador in Canada and Venezuela, during that period,
he did his best to bolster the political relations and connections
between Kuwait and USA namely in the bad circumstances dur-
ing Iraq-Iran war. He played an active and tangible role during
the Iraqi occupation to Kuwait.
In October 1992, he joined the local political field to be the min-
ister of Information till March 1998. And on 22nd
March 1998
was appointed the Minister of Oil in addition to KPC chairman
of the board of directors till 2001.
Bright fingerprints
Late Sheikh Saud actively worked hard to develop Kuwait oil
industry immediately after being at the top of the oil sector on 22,
March 1992, he did great works such as setting the foundation
stone of the oil complex which compromises offices of the min-
istry of oil and KPC. He also adopted the
project of seeking to get the help of the ser-
vices of international oil companies to de-
velop Kuwait north oil fields. He referred
this project to the national assembly, and
put development –bases to oil industry
and its administrative and technical fields
besides giving due care to those who work
in the oil sector as well as to the environ-
ment, safety and healthiness affairs.
His political maneuvers in OPEC had an
important role to correct the oil prices in
the world market ,when they were low (the
barrel was for 8 dollars in 1998),he did his
best to raise these prices because raising
prices was of great importance to Kuwait
3
economy as well as its development.
Late Sheikh Saud sought to compensate the lack of the natural gas
supplies in Kuwait so an understanding agreement was signed to
let Kuwait purchase natural gas from Qatar. It was a great step to
cement the relations between the two countries in various fields.
He described that agreement as vital and important to bolster the
bilateral economic relations
Sheikh Saud was very cautious to bolster the connection channels
among KPC subsidiaries and to guarantee the flaw of informa-
tion in an easy and simple way as well as to achieve the harmony
between KPC and its subsidiaries, he moved the headquarter of
the Kuwait Petroleum International Company from London to
Kuwait, he issued a decision to form a committee to evaluate the
performance of KPC and its subsidiaries in and outside Kuwait in
the various fields which are related to KPC interests.
Late Sheikh Saud was cautious to meet top oil specialists and
to pay field-visits to the KPC subsidiaries as well as the outer
offices in order to meet with persons who work in them, and to
express his big concern to encourage the Kuwaiti cadres. He also
participated in a lot of international oil conferences.
He got the honorary doctorate in political sciences from Sor-
bonne University in appreciation to his diplomatic efforts in the
service of his country when he was the minister of information
in April 1997.

the oil sector, we also remember his ardent
deeds of Sheikh Saud Al-Sabah who shoul-

Sheikh Saud was a man of the full sense of
the word he was tolerant to all who commit
errors to him, he had human and brotherly
stances witnessed by everyone who knew
him. He loved Kuwait and worked faithful-
ly to it. The people in distant or near places
talked about him we still remember words
of praise and laudation from the US presi-
dent Bush the senior when he lauded his
work and persistence well as his continu-
ous call for moving forces to liberate Ku-
wait. His work is his witness; he is not only
5
considered our deceased man. But also the
deceased of all people of Kuwait
We all returning to Allah
Sheikh Mubarak Abdulla Al-Mubarak
Al-Sabah
Kuwait has lost one of its sons. He had a
distinguished and prominent role in all
posts he held when he was in the minis-
try of foreign affairs, then an ambassador
in London and in USA namely in Wash-
ington. At that time the Iraqi tyrannical
occupation to Kuwait accrued During the
invasion, He had a big work to do so he
coordinates between Kuwait army and
the alliance forces. Mr. Bush “the senior”
said about him” He was a combating le-
gion on behalf of Kuwait”. After liberation,
he became was the Minister of Information
to build it from nothing. He played a great
role to promote its work and became the
Minister of Oil so he was sincere and faith-
ful to Kuwait in every post he held.
Faisal Al-Hajji
Advisor at the Diwan of HH. the Prime-
Minister
I assure that Kuwait has lost one if it’s
faithful heroes and men who worked hard
for the sake of it.so owing to his heroic
role and faithful deeds, nobody will never
forget his favor in the liberation of Ku-
wait. He was one of the most faithful men
and during the Iraqi invasion could raise
the Kuwaiti just case in the media till lib-
eration occurred. He was a distinguished
minister of information thus he offered a
lot to it and originated a lot of amendments
which were not there. The same occurred
when he was the Minister of Oil to leave
a finger- print in it which is witnessed by
all who worked with him. He was really a
sincere citizen who loved Kuwait and its
people, we entreat to Almighty Allah to be-
stow his mercy upon him and to abide him
in his great paradise as well as to grant the
people of Kuwait patience and comfort.

Administrative Skills (3)
By Ibrahim Awadh
The employee’s ability to preserve the en-
ergy which is required to achieve the tasks
and works at working hours and after finish-
ing them ,is considered a vital and important
factor for the success of the employee and
his career as well as his progress in life so
this essay is allotted to talk about the means
that enable an employee to recharge the bat-
tery of his energy.
First: Keep away from people who have
negative energy at work because there are
many people who have great ability to ex-
haust the positive energy of their colleagues
. Those people concentrate their talk on
a lot of criticism as well as they raise a daily
problem and frustrations which they suffer
from a lot .They also exhaust the energy of
others throughout spreading an atmosphere
of pessimism ,anger and depression in the
place. You have to be cautious and
keep away from them as soon as possible so
you have to be keen on being with those who
have positive energy when you sit with them,
you smile and laugh . They have self
-sufficiency and they are able to solve their
problems by themselves . They are full of
vitality , activity and enthusiasm so they
feel that life is happy and it is worth to live
Second: Avoid falling in the trap of exces-
sive perfectness and the idea of completeness
. The idea of completeness is a trap and it
is also an oppressive behavior which exhaust
your energy. It means that you feel that you
are complete and is always said about you
that you are right ,unique and can be re-
lied upon . What you rapidly gain is that
you feel you dominate your matters and you
get others’ interest and respect whereas the
trap is set for you sooner or later so you can
find yourself under the effect of great in-
ner and outer pressure in order to keep on
doing everything properly at the first time
whatever trivial this matter is . Those people
exhaust their energy of anxiety on doing
these works very properly .They do not give
up their ideal duties even when they partici-
pate in activities that help in relaxation and
enjoyment . They , for instance , put strict
standards to their performance in order to
guarantee keeping their bright and ideal pic-
tures in the eyes of others to an extent that
these activities turn to competitive experi-
ences which are charged with pressure , ten-
sion and shortage of energy which should be
obtained instead.
Third: Avoid falling into the superman’s
trap and Man’ super syndromes.
Syndromes are considered the worst nega-
tive type of energy which is a main op-
pressive idea which affects the behavior of
the super people. They think that they are
others ‘everything . This superman seeks,
with determination , to be a hero in the
eyes of all People and he does his best
to achieve the utmost success as well as to
keep a high position in the society. He tries
to let all, who are with him at work or home
be in urgent needs to be under his perma-
nent pressure . The inevitable conclusion
refers that you exhaust your energy through-
out endless reasons and people . This fi-
nally leads to being exhausted physically
, mentally and emotionally so if you can
find a group of people who are efficient and
able to be self -sufficient and work under
the least supervision , you will do a great
work to yourself and society.
Finally: There are some practices which
can be applied to preserve your vital energy
to overcome work - pressure as well as to
achieve success:
1-Planning: Planning is considered the
main element in avoiding pressure and
preserving energy so put daily , weekly,
monthly and yearly plans and be cautious
that your plans are available every morn-
ing and try to review what you are waiting
to do next week at the end of the current
one.
2-Identify your priority: You have to
identify your priorities throughout putting
numbers to your duties according to
their importance starting with the urgent
activities then with the important activities
till you come to the activities that can be
delayed .
3-Having a rest: Do not waste your energy
on anxiety when you are angry or having
tension , leave the room till you regain your
balance then think about what you want to
change and the available options that are
needed to change matters.
4 - Nourish your beliefs: Be cautious
to nourish your beliefs throughout review-
ing your all previously achieved successes
as well as the situations you face and over-
come hindrances.
5-Concentrate upon yourself: Ignore
tasks achieved by others and concentrate
upon works which can be done by you.6-Concentrate upon your priority: Be
cautious that you sleep and let sport be
among your priorities so whatever the cir-
cumstances are , allot time for physical
exercises as if they were a work- meeting
because they are not less important than it.
