Welcome to our New Members 12/29/18 - 3/31/19
Comedy Night Sponsors and Donors continued…
Also we again sponsored the Farmingdale Summit expo. This keeps with our plan to help connect our member to each other, to the residents, and to help support community organizations as a group.
If you aren’t aware The Farmingdale Community Summit Council was formed during time following the events of September 11, 2001. The Summit represents a "coming together" of residents, organizations, merchants and houses of worship in the communities that comprise the Farmingdale School District for the common good of all. They since have erected a permanent community 9/11 monument
and perpetually look to assist families in need and to improve our community's overall quality of life.
Be sure to check the website for upcoming events; more are being added all the time. Let’s keep moving business forward in greater Farmingdale and support each other. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me by email or phone anytime.

Where’s My Refund? Submitted by Suzanne LoBiondo, CPA
The popular “Where’s My Refund” feature on the IRS website allows you to see the status of your refund after filing your income tax return.
What you should know 1. Refunds of e-filed returns usually take 10 to 21 days to process. Paper re-
turns take longer than e-filed returns. The IRS states that 90 percent of refunds
are processed within this 21-day time period.
2. Original refund processing projections can change. This can be due to pro-
cessing backlogs, or errors in your tax return.
3. Sometimes a delay is a good thing. The IRS acknowledges there is a huge increase in identity fraud as thieves try to steal tax withholdings. The IRS is using their data match programs to catch as much of this illegal activity as possible. Because of this, if the IRS is suspicious there is fraudulent activity, they will hold
up processing your refund.
4. No shutdown delay. The recent government shutdown did delay many IRS ac-
tivities, but refunds are expected to be issued within the normal timeframe.
Checking your refund status In the meantime, if you wish to check on the status of your refund this is what you should know. Go to: www.irs.gov/refunds and click on "Check My Refund Status"
When to check
24 hours after an e-filed tax return confirmation
4 weeks after a mailed tax return is sent
What you need to provide
Social Security number
Filing status
Exact refund amount
Remember, the information provided to you by the IRS is not a guarantee of pay-ment. So please fight the urge to spend your refund before you receive it. Unfortu-
nately, no amount of calling or checking will change the speed of returning your mon-ey. With 150 million tax returns processed each year, sometimes all you can do is wait.
Social Media Tip: 6 Things to Check Before Hitting Publish
When posting on social media, you should be sure your content is ready to go out to the public. There are a few other important things to check before hitting publish.
These include:
Proofread. Customers and other businesses may not take you seriously or may get annoyed if your posts are full of spelling or grammar errors. Look over your posts
multiple times and use a grammar or spell check tool if needed.
Fact check. If you’re sharing facts such as dates, statistics, or quotes, do your re-
search and make sure they are accurate.
Tag. The more you tag other businesses or people, the more your post will be seen. If you’re sharing a photo of a customer or helping promote another business, be sure to
tag their profile or page if they have one.
Link. Whether it’s to your website, an article, or an event, include a link when possi-
ble. Links can catch a customer’s eye and get them interested in becoming more en-
gaged, rather than scrolling past your post.
Test. Check all tags and links and make sure they work and send your followers to the right location. There’s nothing more frustrating than clicking a link and opening an
“error” message or getting sent to the wrong page.
Review again. After going through all the checks, look over your post one more time.
Better yet, read it out loud and have a friend or co-worker look at it, too.
It can be easy to have a typo or inaccurate information in your social media posts. To avoid confusing or frustrating your audience, follow these six steps before clicking
publish!
