Supported Applications• Adobe Illustrator• Adobe InDesign• Adobe Photoshop: Unflattened layers saved in TIF or PSD formats (preferred). Single layer image formats EPS or JPG are uneditable or expensive to alter.• Quark Xpress, up to version 7• Corel Draw, up to version 11: export files as EPS and export text as curves.
DimensionsCD print area is limited to 116 mm diameter printable area.Center minimum center hole is 22 mm for both CDs and DVDs. Indicate the center hole size you want but do not eliminate the artwork from the center.
ImagesPhotos should be no less than 300 dpi at the final printed size plus bleed.Colour images must be converted to CMYK from RGB.Bitmapped images should be no less than 1200 dpi at final printed size.Duotone and multichannel images will convert to CMYK in Adobe Illustrator.
Type LimitationsBlack or colour type must not be smaller than 5pt.Reversed type (white) must not be smaller than 6pts reversed through 1 colour and no smaller the 7 pts reveresed through 2 colours or more.Serifs thinner than 5pt will not print well.
FontsSupply all fonts that are used in the artwork.When possible convert text to outlines or curves before submitting.
Lines and StrokesLine thickness must not be thinner than 0.5pt.Reversed lines must not be thinner than 1pt.
Gradients and DensitiesIn most instances, gradients do not reproduce properly on silkscreen labels.Avoid gradients that run from 0% to 100%.Colour (density) under 15% is too light and will disappear.Density over 85% is too dark and will fill in.

Song titlesthe title on the cover must match the title as it has been registered with your performingrights organization. Any variation in title may result in lost royalties from airplay.
Composer informationPerforming rights organizations must ignore radio station log entries which show only the title,as there may be numerous songs registered with the same title. They have no way of knowingwhich tune was played unless composer information is provided. (If you ever use apseudonym, inform SOCAN immediately.)
Artist InformationEspecially helpful on compilations. Identify the artist who is performing the song.
DurationThe length of a song is essential for DJ’s and radio programmers.Make sure the time is accurate to within a few seconds.
MAPL logoThe MAPL logo was designed to assist radio programmers in identifying those songs that qualify as Canadian content. Quadrants containing a black background indicate that requirement has been met. Two of the four categories must be Canadian for the tune to qualify as CANCON. M – music composed by a Canadian A – performing artist is a Canadian P – produced in Canada L – lyrics written by a Canadian
