Principal’s Report Absent Notes….. Having had a significant number of absences over the last few weeks, this week letters from the
office were sent out to every family to any child who has had an unexplained absence from the beginning of this term.
Any student who has been away must provide a note to their classroom teacher upon their return to ensure accurate
records are maintained on student attendance. This year we want every student to achieve a 90% attendance record,
we are monitoring and analgising our data on a regular basis so it essential our records are up to date. Any student who
is at risk of falling below 90%, without an explanation eg, family holiday, will receive a phone call from the school to
discuss attendance. We are also making calls to those families who are consistently late each morning as this can have a
significant impact on their learning. If you have received a letter from your child regarding an unexplained absence,
could you please return it immediately to the office for processing.
2018 Enrolments….. A final reminder to all families, please finalise your 2018 prep enrolment in the coming week. We
are now starting to plan our grade structure for 2018 and our transition sessions for the remainder of the year.
Parent Opinion Survey….. Thank you to those parents who have already completed the Parent Opinion Survey, this is
the final week the survey can be completed. Please take the time to complete the survey this week if you have been
randomly selected. The Parent Opinion Survey forms a major part of our feedback process each year.
NAPLAN Results….. Staff have begun looking through the recent release of the school’s NAPLAN results. Reading has
obviously been an area of significant improvement over the last 2 years. Our whole school approach to reading
continues to show great benefit from Prep through to Grade 6. Now that our reading has shown significant
improvement, we will now focus on developing our writing over the next 18 months. Teachers have now received
individual student NAPLAN results and are happy to discuss the outcome with any parent.
School Uniform….. Over the next few weeks, as the weather warms up, we will be talking to our students about our
school uniform. Throughout the colder months we often see various items slip into rotation for some students that are
similar but not part of our official uniform. Whilst I really appreciate parents continuing to make the effort to ensure
students wear the appropriate colours it is also important to ensure they have the correct uniform on each day. New
uniform is constantly being ordered to have enough in stock for parents to purchase at school. Please ensure all
students have the correct shirt, jumper and plain black bottoms in the coming weeks. Please come and see me if you
require further support with this, at any stage.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support. Simon Prior
