POSITION SUMMARY The Food Bank Manager is responsible for the overall management and smooth operation of the FamilyWorks Food Bank and Delivery Program. The Food Bank Manager directs staff and volunteers to ensure that the needs of Food Bank customers are met in an efficient, safe and respectful manner. He/she will develop and implement strategies for maintaining the stability of and/or expansion of the capacity of the Food Bank to meet community needs. The Food Bank Manager will be guided by the Principles of Family Support and will promote these principles among staff, volunteers and program participants. He/She will work cooperatively with the Family Resource Center and numerous community partners. The Manager will learn and enhance skills that promote anti-racism and cultural competency. Reports to the Executive Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Recruit, train, support, schedule and supervise three paid staff and 200+ annual volunteers to meet program needs and objectives; Oversee ongoing inventory management including weekly food orders, deliveries and donation pick-ups, rotation of inventory, packaging and processing’s; Provide for optimal delivery of services for food bank customers; conduct periodic program evaluation; Ensure a safe, healthy food bank environments; Develop, cultivate and steward program partnerships within the broader community; Participate in fundraising and communications strategies specific to the Food Bank, and support the achievement of organization’s overall resource development and fundraising objectives; Assist in preparation and administration of annual program budget; Generate monthly reports for Executive Director; Ensure all contractual obligations are met with regard to program activities, outcomes, audits and reporting; Provide for optimal communication among staff, volunteers and program participants; Maintain and adhere to all local, State, and Federal guidelines and regulations pertaining to safety, sanitation and food service; Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Associates degree or equivalent;

Three to five years’ experience in program management, with responsibility in areas of service delivery and supervision (both paid staff and volunteers);

Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications;

Ability to obtain valid food handlers permit within one week of hire;

Valid driver’s license.

PREFERENCES

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish);

Bachelors or Master’s degree.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works closely with a diversity of people on a daily basis;

Work is primarily in a warehouse setting; exposure to machinery/vehicles, high noise;

Position involves significant physical exertion on a regular basis, including heavy lifting and carrying (50 lbs. or more) and occasional stair climbing;

Position requires occasional travel within metropolitan area.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

35 hours per week – Full Time Exempt;

$25- $27/hour with medical and dental benefits, general leave and holidays.
