2012 is certainly a great year to be in the cattle industry! The recovery from BSE was a long road, however, your hard work, persistence, and dedication is finally starting to pay off with record prices. On the demand front, exciting international markets are opening their doors once again to Canadian beef, offering great potential for growth. The supply side of the economic equation is also looking favourable. Due to unfortunate droughts in the south, the USA currently has limited ability to respond to increased demand. Given these advantageous supply and demand condi-tions there is great opportunity for Canadian producers to rise to the challenge and ensure the world has access to our high quality product. Our job is to ensure you have the bulls to do it.

Genetics play an extremely important role as we continue to rebuild our Canadian herd numbers. We market to high qual-ity markets and so we need to ensure we are all focused on producing high quality products. Your ability to do this starts with your bull selection. Whether you are aiming to market your cattle at weaning, retain through a stocker or feedlot phase, or market your cattle on the grid, we have a bull for you. We spend endless amounts of time and effort ensuring we are raising top quality breeding stock so that you can feel confident on sale day that you have chosen a bull that is a solid investment for the future of your operation. We are pleased to have on offer an outstanding set of herd sire prospects out of some of today’s leading genetics. Our sale offering includes a good selection of horned and polled Charolais yearling bulls, ten powerful Charolais two-year olds, as well as eight impressive Simmental yearlings - all sons of General Lee.You are welcome to come and view the bulls and their dams anytime prior to the sale, or if you need assistance in any way please call any one of us or our professional sales team.Come and join us for pre-sale lunch and some Family Tradition hospitality. We look forward to seeing you on sale day.

Fellow cattlemen know that there was nobody more passionate than Bob Digby on the qualities of Charolais, however what he truly loved about the cattle industry was the people. He treated each and every person with sincerity and honesty and valued the relationships he had with his customers, many of whom became very close friends. Bob was proud of the herd of cows that he raised and he loved to take you on a tour of his pastures or take you through his bull pen.

Bob’s greatest love was his family and he loved to have the whole family home for holidays, gathered together at Pyott’s campground, or all coming home to help with the annual Family Tradition Bull Sale. Bob shared his passion for life and the Charolais breed with his family. In December 2010, the Rolling D Charolais herd was dispersed and Bob purchased a new pontoon boat. Bob spent many hours last spring and summer with family and friends on the water; treasured

memories were made and shared.

Bob was a great husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, father-in-law, cattleman, mentor, fisherman, and friend. Our annual bull sale was always a highlight in Bob’s year. He looked forward to promoting the Charolais breed, working with the cattle, but most importantly to reuniting with his family and fellow cattlemen.

Robert Digby passed away suddenly on August 3, 2011 at Pyott’s West Campground, on Lake of the Prairies, MB.

We dedicate this sale to Bob’s memory, a great cattleman and friend to us all.

Welcome to the 9th Annual Family Tradition Bull Sale.

The Family Tradition Bull Sale is very appropriately named as deep values exist among the people involved, namely the Jackson and Digby families. Carman and Donna Jackson and their five daughters, who are the pro-prietors of High Bluff Stock Farm, as many of you realize, have earned a reputation across Canada as a herd with the capabilities to make other registered breeder’s herdsires. With that thought in mind, many herdbulls with the Rolling D prefix have also gone on to service other purebred herds in a successful manner.

Features for this year’s sale will include a paternal brother to HBSF Spe-cialist (the former P Bar 3 herdsire now owned by Gilliland Bros). It is well known that the “Hank” influence on the HBSF herd has been monumental and you will see that the aforementioned son is among many in the pen who are mothered by his sisters. The Hank daughters are super footed, well uddered, performance-driven cattle.

Adding to the event, is the sheer fact that two-year-old bulls are available,

and in quality.

Not to overlook the “Simmi” section because they are well, well worth your inspection and have always shown a lot of natural potential when both alongside their mothers in the summer and while in their winter pens.

We hope to see you at the Rolling D Farm on Friday, March 16 for one of “Man-Sask’s” most reputable Charolais bull sales. In the event you cannot attend, please feel free to call any of our cell phones listed to access our free order-buying services. This is only one of our duties as sales managers and we are proud of the well known, industry trusted reputation we have earned.

For the “Family Tradition”,

Jay Good, Transcon Livestock Corp.

This Curtis Wallace son is thick, deep, long bodied, with a good hair coat and nice head. He is out of a prolific Hank Daughter.

High Bluff kept a mix of two year old bulls for the 2012 sale, knowing that after the Rolling D dispersal, we would need more numbers for this sale. This is an impressive group of twos on offer. We will not be running them through the sale ring, so make sure you take a good look at them before the sale starts.
