Scenario: Two neighbors enter in a quarrel over loud music into
the late night
playing disturbing the neighborhood.
Bia: Brianna
emma: emily
Goerge: Vincent
Emma I cant sleep the music is so loud
Bia I know, maybe we should say something
Emma with his attitude I doubt it will get us anywhere.
(sarcasm/ridicule)
Walk over and knock on neighbors door**
No answer from Georges house, but music has seemed to become
louder.
(withdrawing)
Emma Did he just turn the music up more?
Bia Seriously..How rude.
Emma should we keep knocking, or wait it out?
Bia keep knocking
Continues to knock several times until a answer
G WHAT?!
Emma- uhcould you plea-
G- do you mind??? iam trying to enjoy some music and you are
disturbing me.
Emma- excuseme? How are we disturbing you?
Bia Yeah were the ones not able to sleep because of your music
immersing the
neighborhood. (victim)
G and, your dog doesnt immerse his piles on my lawn? (changing
the subject/
cross complainng)

Bia maybe if you didnt leave you garbage all over we would have
room on our
lawn!
G- whatever you guys suck (name calling/ withdrawing)
Closes door**
Girls exchange look**
(Emma- knocks loudly again repeatedly)
Bia- dude!?
Emma- were tryin to talk to you
G- thats one word for it (ridicule/saracasm)
Emma- we were just trying to calmly come over here and nicely
ask you to turn
down your music-
Bia- and you decided to justslam the door in out face! Were the
neighborhood
watch and were just here to enforce the rules. We let you live
in this neighborhood
so show some respect. We do-
G- I pay my bills and I contribute to help this neighborhood,
ive earned my right tolive here and I pay for this property. You
cant just come here and tell me what I can
and cant do, I should have the right oto listen to my music
whenever I want,
however I want, and with whoever I want (last 3 parts all=
speech making)
Emma- and we get that, yes you can listen to your music, but you
dont have to do it
so loudly!
G- what about that time you guys had that party? That was pretty
loud, and need I
remind you of the time I watched you dog while you went on
vacation to Hawaii last
spring, not to mention pick up all your mail while you were off
doing whatever! And
did I get a thank you from that? No.
B- so what? Your expect respect from us?
E-we have been nothing but nice to you these past few years,
taking out your
garbage, helping out when your mom was in the hospital, letting
go that time when
you threw that big party and convincing the cops not to come.
And we never said
anything that time. We even helped pay for that honeymoon you
had been planning
with Gretchen to Disneyland. (emotion black mail)
