JANUARY
END OF SCHOOL 2016 Well another year has flown by. It has been a terrific
year for our school with students performing extremely
well with solid results both academically and socially.
We have a great group here at Fyans Park - dedicated
teachers who work above and beyond, and parents who are
very supportive of their childrens’ education. This makes
working with a terrific lot of students a real honour and
pleasure.
To everyone, thank you for your efforts and have a happy
and safe Summer break. See you all raring to go in 2017!
GOOD BYE AND FAREWELL This year we say farewell to teachers Mr Bates, Mrs
Mustovic, Assistant Principal Mr Gavin Nelson and Mrs
Chesson who is having leave for 2017. We thank them for
their work and wish them all the best for future.
To the families that are completing their time at primary
school can we say thank you and all the best. Our Parents
Association continues its tradition of donating a book to
the library on behalf of these families with a name plate
inside acknowledging their contribution. To the Gatt,
Henderson, Combridge, Crichton, Crough, Durran, Ec-
cleston, Elliott, Brodie, Somers, Spriggins, Brandis, Mun-
ro, Page, Skeen, Lewis, MacDonald, Matta, Hough and
Kelly families we wish all the best for the future. Thanks
for being part of our community.
To families leaving our school for other locations in 2017
we also say farewell and good luck for the future. To the
Meadows, Williams, Tong, Crawford and Imrie families we
say all the best and good luck for the future.
GRADE 6 GRADUATION
It’s time to say thank you, good luck and goodbye to our
Grade 6 students of 2016. As they prepare to move to
the secondary college of their choice we thank them for
their contribution. Congratulations to the group on the
presentation of graduation on Monday evening. It was a
terrific event with the students developing the program
and really showing how they have progressed and matured
over the last seven years. Well done to you all!

WHAT A BUSY YEAR!
This year has flown! I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas we’re making
decorations and Christmas artwork.
I have started mentioning to students that as they are cleaning out
their lockers/pencil cases, if they would like to donate items that are
still in good condition, for example, ruler, glue stick, eraser etc, I will
happily accept these in the art room too. I have also asked them to ask
your permission too, and to check whether they will be getting a new one
on next year’s booklist.
I’d like to thank everyone who has donated arty goodies throughout the year, whether it
was fabric, bottle tops, tissue boxes or scrapbooking paper. It all came in handy and was
put to good, creative use.
Finally, I huge thankyou to all the students for their fabulous efforts and achievements in
Art this year. Their positive attitudes towards the Arts has been outstanding! I look
forward to another creative year in 2017!
Have a wonderful break, and a very merry Christmas!

2017 Division Swimming Carnival
The 2017 Division Swimming Carnival will be held on Wednesday 15th March next year. We are asking those students who are competent and competitive swimmers, interested in entering this competition, to obtain a time for their chosen events in the Summer holidays.
This would involve swimming the selected stroke, for example: backstroke, over 50 metres and recording down the time. Nominating students must be turning 9yrs or older in 2017.
Students may enter up to 2 individual events from: freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. We can also enter a school relay team if we receive enough entrants.
Once you have obtained your qualifying time, go to: https://goo.gl/forms/yxOWJkdqi5x45Jtn1 to register your details (you must enter details for each event.)
Entry registrations will close by Friday of Week 2 next year.
Further details about the event, timetable, cost etc. will be made available once we receive them next year.
Thank you
Jason Calnin
ASTHMA / ALLERGY / ANAPHYLAXIS ACTION PLANS If you indicated on your child’s enrolment form that they experience asthma, allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, or they have been diagnosed since then, government legislation requires you to provide us with a current Action Plan (see examples below). Please visit your medical practitioner for an up to date Action Plan and return in prior to the start of Term 1 2017.
https://www.asthmaaustralia.org.au/vic/about-asthma/resources/victorian-action-plans/victorian-asthma-action-plans
http://www.allergy.org.au/health-professionals/ascia-plans-action-and-treatment
Please ensure your child has their medication and any other device (eg. spacer) with them to better manage their symptoms. If your medical practitioner has informed you that your child has grown out of their condition, they will need to provide a letter, on the Medical Practice letterhead, to the school stating such.
Thank you for your cooperation.

I hope you have enjoyed the last three years entries to ESM, I certainly have enjoyed bringing them to you. All the best for a great summer. Heidi
