Family Names

(Preschool to Elementary Students)

The purpose of this lesson is to engage the students in learning family

names by having the students introduce their own family. This lesson can further

expand by having the students count the number of family members present.

1. 2 min: “Every day Common Greetings” exercise

2. 5 min: Introduce family names

a. father, mother, sister, brother, baby, grandma, and grandpa

3. 15 min: Family Song

Where is father, where is father?

Here I am, here I am.

How are you, today? How are you, today?

I am fine. I am fine.

<Repeat verse for other family names>

mother, sister, brother, baby, grandma, and grandpa

<If there is time, these family names will be included: uncle, aunt,

and cousin>

4. 20 min: Activities/Homework

a. Family picture and exercise sheet: students would draw a picture of

their family and then introduce their family using the exercise sheet.
