DEAR FRIENDS,

This year, the Vail Valley Medical Center (VVMC) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. It is hard

to believe what started as a small clinic in the basement of the Red Lion is now a 58-bed,

community hospital serving residents and visitors from around the world.

The Family Dinner Dance, now in its 35th year, has been an important part of the VVMC’s

success, helping the hospital meet its funding needs and providing financial support to

various priority projects within the hospital. Last year, the event raised over $500,000 for the

new Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab (Cath Lab), which allows us to provide

heart-related and life-saving care to patients. Since opening in February 2015, the Cath Lab

has served more than 110 patients – eight of them emergent cases with successful outcomes.

This year, the event proceeds will go to help fund research, education and patient care

for Howard Head Sports Medicine (HHSM). In our active mountain community, injuries are

common, and HHSM’s goal is to rebuild and return its patients to the things they love to do the

most. Since 1990, HHSM has been developing extensive therapy protocols for rehabilitation,

setting new standards for research and innovation in the physical therapy field worldwide.

Howard Head Sports Medicine Fund will help promote and encourage clinical research

projects and educational fellowships to help advance the quality of care the patients receive.

Since our inception in 1965, the Vail Valley Medical Center’s mission has remained the

same – to provide superior health services with compassion and exceptional outcomes.

It is with this goal in mind that we are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of

healthcare for the Vail Valley’s residents and guests. Performing clinical research, providing

educational opportunities to medical staff, and investing in new equipment are a few of the

ways we are improving the care we provide to our patients.

I hope you will consider supporting our mission and enhancing the quality of healthcare in

our community by sponsoring this year’s Family Dinner Dance. I look forward to seeing you

on Monday, December 28th at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.

With Sincere Appreciation,

Doris Kirchner

President and CEO
