FroM StaFF reportS

One of the greatest truths of our lives is that children are a gift from God.

And raising children to know and love the Lord is a huge commitment for parents. It’s a commitment that ministry leaders at Southeast Christian Church want to see parents take seriously.

That’s why, in 2011, the church revamped its former Baby Dedication process, and renamed it Family Dedica-tion.

Southeast placed an emphasis on making parents an active participant in their children’s spiritual maturation process.

Family Dedication takes parents through an intentional way of introduc-ing them to other parents for fellow-ship, goal setting and partnership. Par-ents take a tour of the education wing, including the nursery, before the day of dedication.

Family Pastor Michael Kast said new parents sometimes feel like they don’t have anyone to talk to when they are at their wit’s end.

He wants them to know the church is there to partner with them.

Families that go through the dedica-tion at each of the Southeast campuses are asked to participate in an introduc-tory class where they are encouraged to set goals for their families and start imagining their children’s lives 18 to 20 years from now and beyond.

“As parents, there are days when you’ve got your kids in bed, you think, ‘They’re fed, their homework’s done. I’ve survived,’” Kast said. “But what do we want our children to become?”

Kast said he hopes Family Dedication

will help couples grow deeper in their relationship with God and with each other, so they can pass that on to their

children. “What we did before was good, but it

was basically an event,” he said. “We’re

beginning a process where the church wants to partner with you and help you begin with the end in mind.”

each year, hundreds of Southeast Christian Church members make a commitment to raise their children with God at the center of their lives. Southeast’s Family Dedication program helps parents understand what that commitment is all about, and how they can successfully model the love of Jesus Christ for their children. the next Family Dedication will be held this fall. Watch the outlook’s Days ahead section for more details.

We use a battery of tests to identify areas for cognitive improvement. Then we pair each student with a personal trainer for intense mental workouts that strengthen, reorganize and even create new neural pathways. The results are amazing: enhanced memory, increased learning speed and comprehension, greater confidence, better attention, improved grades, and higher IQs.

· Complete homework faster · Retain more information · Comprehend problems

more fully

· Focus more intensely · Organize thoughts better · Improve test scores

“Cassidy S. (age 12) recently brought her report card home and we were so excited and proud to see that she had made the A/B honor roll for the first time. We can see the sparkle in her eyes when she succeeds in an area that has been weak for a very long time. LearningRx has also brought Cassidy out of her shell. I have seen her begin to speak up for herself and become more and more expressive. Her new confidence in life will help her build stronger relationships and increase her communication skills with family, friends, and teachers. Thanks LearningRx! ” – Cassidy’s Mom
