Families and the Gospel Aug. 12th (John 6:41-51)
“Stop murmuring” Jesus told the disciples in today’s
gospel. Complaining is a dead-end and constant
complaining is nagging. We might feel better but others
feel bitter. Silence or grumbling will not resolve the
problem. Address differences honestly and
respectfully. Don’t make them personal attacks.
Saint Matthew School News! What a
gracious and wonderful response from this
parish – all of the request from our “Giving
Tree” have been selected. We are so
“THANKFUL” for your generosity.
As in prior years our School is offering the opportunity
to be an “Angel” to a school child or school family who
are seeking assistance with tuition. These “Angels” can
be found in the Gathering Space.
There is still time to register your child for the
academic school year. Please consider the benefits of a
Catholic education. See the front of the bulletin for
contact information for our school principal, Mrs.
Debbie St. Pierre.
Thank you to all parishioners who helped
with the Equip the Eagles project
sponsored by the Tyrone Snyder Public
Library.

the son of Joseph? Do we not know

THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP
AS A WAY OF LIFE
“Get up and eat, else the journey will be too long for
you!”
1 Kings 19: 7
Jesus knows that our stewardship journey will be
difficult; we are not designed to do it on our own.
Fortunately, Jesus gave us the greatest gift of all – the
gift of the Eucharist; His own body and blood. When we
join our sacrifices with the sacrifice of the Mass, we find
the strength and courage to be His joyful disciples.

Stewardship Reflection August 12th In his letter to the Ephesians, Saint Paul reminds us that as
Christian stewards we imitate God through our kindness,
compassion, and forgiveness. Let us be as generous in our

ARISE: TOGETHER IN CHRIST SMALL GROUP LEADERS/FACILITATORS NEEDED
Our parish ARISE Team is in the process of seeking
out parishioners to serve as Small Group Leaders
(or Co-Leaders) for this diocesan-wide, but parish
based spiritual renewal process. Groups will gather
in homes at various days/times throughout the
week—for 6 weeks in October & November to
reflect on the Gospels and our Catholic faith…but
this can only happen if we have Small Group
Leaders in Place. If asked—or if interested—in
finding out more about Small Group
Leadership/Facilitation in ARISE, an informational
meeting will be held next Tuesday, August 21,
7PM, in the Gathering Space.
ATTENTION SPIRITUAL LIFE COMMITTEE! Mark
your calendars for Monday, August 27, 6:30PM, in the
Gathering Space. We will meet to discuss our Fall
calendar and upcoming events.

you to participate with them in celebrating the
Fatima Devotions on Monday, August 13th, at 6:30

weather, the devotions will be at the Basilica of St.
Michael the Archangel). We would like to extend a
cordial welcome to all.

THANK YOU. . For many decades The Friar’s Shop in
Loretto, PA has served the local community providing
religious gifts for every occasion. It has been a true
pleasure to build relationships with so many faithful,
regular customers. However, times have changed a great
deal. It is hard for any brick and mortar store to compete
with the online giants. It is with great sadness that we must
announce that the Friar’s Shop is closing, Saturday,
September 15th. We will be offering storewide discounts to
help reduce inventory. We thank you all for your
friendship and support through the years. May God Bless
you all.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
begins September 5th ~ Are you or someone you know
interested in joining the Catholic Church? In Catholic
life, it is necessary to be confirmed in order to be a god
parent at Baptism or sponsor at Confirmation. If you
are an adult, and need the Sacraments of Initiation of
Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist please join
our group on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM in the
Gathering Space beginning September 5th. For more
information call Sue Burkholder at 684-0352.
Rest in Peace – Please pray for the repose of the soul of
Christina Flanagan—and for the peace and strength of
her two children, Dylan and Ava, as they transition to a
new home and start new schools.
