Let me start off our first newsletter of 2019 by saying thank you – to you, the readers, to those that submit content, and to my fellow staff members that work diligently to make the newsletter what it is. It’s a collaborative group effort and each part moves cohesively because of another. In the past few months alone, we have received many thank you notes, via both mail and email, expressing appreciation for the newsletter and its content. However, the content is what we depend on you for, readers, so please continue to submit and don’t hold back. Late last year, Brad Pleimling wrote in thanking regular newsletter submitter Rich Glennie for his article on working in the mill, which ran in our October, 2018 edition. “I love all of the articles you send in,” said Pleimling of Glennie. “Your writing is a gift to us.” It was suggested that perhaps others, too, who have worked in the mill could tell their stories – why not? Tony Nagurski also wrote to us, and wasn’t alone in telling us how much he loved Michael Anderson’s trip down memory lane to the Border and Grand Theaters, which also ran in our last edition. Nagurski said he saw many Saturday afternoon matinees and wonders if anyone remembers The Huddle hangout place next to the Grand around 1953 – why not write in and tell us? Don’t let the reminiscing stop, alumni. The deadline to submit for the next newsletter is April 30 – let’s read what you’ve got. Best, Whitney Jackson Editor [email protected] Though there has been lots of snow in Borderland, the temperatures have been mild, which Whitney and Dixie always enjoy.
