A Usonian single-family house based on a typical modular system, Kentuck Knob bears deliberate similarities to Fallingwater in its flagstone floor and rugged stone construction. Original owner I.N. Hagan was a business associate of Edgar Kaufmann and made several trips to Fallingwater. Today the house is owned by Lord Peter Palumbo, whose collection of modern sculpture is installed on the 79-acre site.

In 1935, at the age of 70, Wright designed the house that is often celebrated as his masterpiece—a country house for Pittsburgh department store magnate Edgar J. Kaufmann, Fallingwater. One of few Wright buildings with its artwork, furnishings and setting entirely intact, this architectural marvel is the realization of Wright’s romantic vision of man living in harmony with nature.
