the army. Nervous about the war. Receives 2 purple

Perry’s best friend. Stays with Perry the whole year They are both African-American Always looks on the good side of things

Carries the big ”pig” the sixty cal. machine gun.

Their Italian friend. From New York like Perry. A religious man. Has a wife back home.

Vietnam

War against communism.

Very bloody war. Longest war America

was involved with. Many protests

against it. Left some men

traumatized.

Personal Conflict

Perry is trying to survive a year in vietnam.

Has a little brother named Kenny.

Perry wants to be a good role model.

Has trouble with all the killing going on.

Thoughts on what happened.

War is not pretty. Vietnam is a war we

lost. Americas first

experience in guerrilla combat.

Many people died.
