Explorers PreschoolThis traditional morning preschool program provides a learning environment in which children can think independently and learn to problem solve. We encourage social development through creative play opportunities. Our academic focus is ondeveloping language, math concepts and reading readiness skills. Aquatic Department Philosophy ThephilosophyoftheaquaticstaffoftheSouthBarringtonParkDistrictistoestablishandmaintaintwogoals:todeliver qualityswiminstructiontoallages,atalllevels,andtoenhancetheindividual’saquaticsafetyskillstobeusedinandaroundallbodies ofwater.TheaquaticstaffoftheSouthBarringtonParkDistricthasbeentrainedtofollowtheAmericanRedCrossswimmingguidelines.Eachlevelofinstructionisdesignedasaprogressionapproachtoswiminstruction,buildingonpreviouslyacquiredskills. Participants will move from level to level of instruction only when they have mastered their current placement. Our staff will be available to make ongoing changes as students gain skills. There are no age restrictions for any of our classes. However, expectations vary greatly from preschool to youth lessons. Preschool children are staffed at a lower staff/child ratio (1:6) and various swimming aids arefrequentlyused.Oncethechildadvancestoouryouthlevels,classexpectationschange.Childrenareexpectedtofollowdirections, wait their turn, and trust their instructor when new skills are introduced. Finally, for your convenience, private swim lessons are available. Please note that group lessons will be canceled due to low enrollment, so register early.

Parental Observation In order for class participants to learn as much as possible, parents are not allowed on deck during lessons. You may view the lessons from the upstairs viewing windows. Please deliver and pick up your children on the pool deck. Shoes and strollers are not allowed on the pool deck. Showers are encouraged before children enter the water. PRIVATE SWIM LESSONSPrivate swim lessons are available for individual’s age 3 years old to adult. Our instructors will create a curriculum based on the individ-ual’s ability. Lessons are arranged on an individual basis. The chart below reflects times where private lessons can best be accommodat-ed. The fee for a set of 8 half-hour private lessons is $248 (member/resident) or $280 (non-member/non-resident). Semi-private lessons are available for multiple individuals of the same swim ability start-ing at $376 (member/resident) and $392 (non-member/non-resident). PLATFORM TENNIS

The South Barrington Club is proud to offer platform (paddle) tennis to the community. With two courts, we are the only facility in the area that offers platform tennis to the public. This growing sport is a great way to continue playing a racket sport outdoors during the long winters we experience in the Chicagoland area.

The2016-17platformtennisseasonbeginsonOctober3rdandhasgrowntoinclude34Men’s“Series”orlevelsofplay.Each series consists of 10 -12 teams that play on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings. The South Barrington Club will be offering 4-6 series of play with opportunities for any level of player.

Refunds and Class Changes• If participants cancel a class in writing with less than two business days’

Firearms Concealed Carry ActThe Firearms Concealed Carry Act, passed in July 2013, forbids carrying a concealed weapon into government buildings and parks, which includes all South Barrington Park District facilities and parks. When you enter our parks and facil-ities, you will see signs posted at the entrances that are approved by the Illinois State Police, to remind all patrons of the law.

Resident and Non-Resident StatusResidents living within the South Barrington Park District boundaries are able to register at the resident rate. Individuals outside of the Park District boundaries are charged the higher fee noted in each program description.

Publication ErrorsEvery effort has been made to keep errors in our publications and web site to a minimum. When such errors do occur, the Park District staff will inform youofthechangesasquicklyaspossible.

Photo PolicyThe Park District may take photographs of participants enrolled in Park District programs, special events, or people on Park District properties and/or parks.
