Why Sage Y Preschool?Our curriculum offers your child many opportunities to make decisions and to grow in their independence. Monthly themes are designed around basic skills, letters and continents. Each child's language is enhanced through the use of music, finger plays and dramatic play. During our art and craft activities, children can explore numerous ways of expressing their creativity. Academic skills are worked into daily curriculum, which help prepare children for Kindergarten. Sage Y Preschool includes gym and weekly swim lesson.

Why Sage Y Before and After School Care?The Sage Y Before and/or After School Program is a safe, fun and active place where children are given the opportunity to participate in many supervised activities. A variety of age appropriate activities are educational, provide appropriate social opportunities, outside play. gym time, board games, arts & crafts, sports, healthy snack and homework assistance on site at your school. 3, 4 and 5 day options available along with punch card for those parents with unpredictable schedules.

Health and Fitness Class DescriptionsBarre Burn Stretch and strengthen your muscles with Barre Burn. Set to fun and energetic music, each Barre class incorporates an upper body workout with weights and a combination of high-intensity sequences of thigh, seat and core exercises at the barre. Workouts include a releasing stretch after we work a muscle group, which results in stronger and more elongated muscles while gaining flexibility. Each class is designed for you to feel invigorated, challenged, and inspired. Our knowledgeable and attentive instructor will guide you through the class to encourage and motivate you in a safe and supportive environment.

Family Dance And Fitness Bring out the whole family for our Family Dance and Fitness class! Kids and adults will build coordination and confidence, healthy hearts and strong bodies. Get a feel for music and enjoy dancing without competition and costumes. With a focus on fun, Family Dance and Fitness will help you create quality memories and healthy habits with your kids! Our expert instructors teach children from 4 to 12 years of age. Parent attendance is required.

Families on the Move - Healthy living starts at home. Families on the Move is a unique class for the entire family that focuses on activity and exercise, nutrition and healthy behaviors. Every class session will include participation from the whole family with a classroom portion and an activity based portion. This is an interactive, educational, fun and effective 8-week course. Fitness activities focus on specific goals, such as team building, sports and games, personal fitness, play and fitness fun. Nutrition topics will include healthy snacking, portion control for kids and adults, eating on a budget, meal planning and healthy recipes. Behavior modification will focus on long-term lifestyle changes to keep healthy fitness and nutrition sustainable for a lifetime.

HIIT Are you ready to dig deep? High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) will push your limits with high-intensity plyometric, strength, cardiovascular, core and agility training. By using the muscle confusion techniques, this class constantly introduces new moves and routines so your body never plateaus and you never get bored! These classes are designed using the P90X and Insanity programming. Punchcards can be used for KettleWorX and HIIT classes and must be used in the session they are purchased.

KettleWorX KettleWorX is fast, fun & effective. The innovative 3-dimensional training program gets your body moving in 3 directions & on 3 planes for more effective whole body workouts. We focus on the key areas of cardio, core & resistance. KettleWorX CARDIO workouts are high energy fat burning total body routines KettleWorX CORE workouts are designed to tighten your core & abs muscles KettleWorX RESISTANCE workouts sculpt & tone your entire body by combining cardio + core + resistance training you’re toning muscle head-to-toe and eliminating fat to lose weight. Additionally, we’ve created a Power of Eating in 3's program to follow for the perfect complement to the KettleWorX workouts. Punchcards can be used for KettleWorX and HIIT classes and must be used in the session they are purchased.

Parent/Kids Yoga Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join!

Home School Swim and GymHome School Swim This program focuses on students who are homeschooled to aid in completing physical education requirements. Students are divided into groups based on age and ability. The swim lessons follow the YMCA Swim Lesson Program. Participants will gain knowledge in personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, rescue, and water sports and games.

Home School Gym & Fitness Fitness, Fun and Friends! Home School Gym & Fitness class gives your kids the opportunity to get supervised exercise while making new friends and having lots of fun! This gym and fitness class will include:

Youth-Teen Sports DescriptionsKyuki Do Martial Arts Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art that primarily incorporates elements of Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Judo. Students will learn self-defense, develop better hand-eye coordination and grow in self-discipline. Classes are open to children ages 6 and up and adults.

Dodgeball Super fun and super exercise! Girls and boys are welcome. Kids get to play on a team, think strategy, work on coordination and have a great time doing it!

Floor Hockey Join the fun and be part of our youth, co-ed floor hockey league. This program is open to youth ages 6-12 of all ability levels. Your child will enjoy the fun of being on a team with the structure of instruction, teamwork and sportsmanship. All equipment will be provided and YMCA staff will administer instruction and scrimmages to make sure all children receive equal playing time.

Level 3: Ray In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

Level 4: Starfish In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons Private and semi-private lessons are accommodating to the busy schedules of families. Both private and semi-private lessons can be purchased in packages of 5, 30 minutes lessons. We work with all abilities, concentrating on swimming basics for beginners and stroke development for more advanced swimmers. An information form must be completed at the Member Relations Desk in order to enroll. The Aquatics Director will contact those interested and scheduled based on instructor availability.

Youth Aquatics DescriptionsLevel 1: Polliwog This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Level 4: Fish In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Level 5: Flying Fish For children aged 6-12 years must be able to swim basic front crawl with rotary breathing and open turns for 100 yards. Must be able to swim basic back crawl with open turns, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke for 100 yards. Must be able to swim butterfly for 25 yards.

Level 6 & 7: Shark & Porpoise In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

You want to be a Sage Piranha?The Piranhas swim team is based out of the Sage YMCA and is a year round team. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

The swim team competes in both YMCA and USA Swimming meets. All swimmers must be YMCA members and USA Swimming members. Please contact the YMCA for member pricing. USA Swimming fees are $60, which are collected by the YMCA and sent directly to USA Swimming. Our coaching

staff has tremendous experience at all levels of swimming competitiveness. They offer a work as a team methodology to all the groups yet encourage the swimmers to achieve high personal standards that they set for themselves.

Returning 2013-2014 Piranhas Priority Registration: August 11th-14th; coaches will be available for questions from 5-7pm. 2014 Summer Piranhas Registration: August 14th-16th; coaches will be available for questions 5-7pm on 8/14 & 8/15 and 12-2pm on 8/16. Developmental Group The Developmental group is for novice or beginner swimmers up to 12 years of age. Swimmers age 8 and under must be able to swim both 25 yard freestyle and 25 yard backstroke. Swimmers 9-12 years old must be able to swim both 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard backstroke. This group helps to bridge the gap between ending swim lessons and the introduction to more competitive swimming. Swimmers will practice 3 times per week for an hour per day and will meet in the family pool.

Age Group This group is comprised of competitive swimmers age 7 - 12 years of age. Swimmers who can legally perform all four (4) strokes: Freestyle, Breast Stroke, Butterfly and Backstroke qualify for this group. This group will be swimming 4 times per week for 1.5 hours per day and will meet in the competition pool.

Intermediate Group Swimmers in the Intermediate Group are ages 10 and over who are proficient in swimming all four (4) strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. These swimmers have the motivation to decrease times and work hard. This group is of a competitive nature. Swimmers must be able to consistently swim 10 X 100 free on 1:30. Swimmers enrolled in high school are not eligible for this group. This group will swim 5 days per week for 1.5 hours per day and will meet in the competition pool.

Senior Group The Senior Group consists of swimmers age 13 and over and all swimmers enrolled in high school. Any swimmer not enrolled in high school must be able to consistently swim 10 X 100 free on 1:20. This group will swim 5 days per week for 2 hours per day and will meet in the competition pool.

High School Group Swimmers currently enrolled in high school AND active members of their high school team may register for this group. High school swim coaches will be contacted to ensure swimmers are on the roster for their team. Should a swimmer drop from their high school team, the swimmer will be transferred to the Senior Group and be responsible for any price difference. This group will follow the same schedule as the Senior Group.

Want to be a Lifeguard?American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Are you interested in becoming a professional lifeguard? Here's your chance. Upon successful completion of the class you will receive certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer; certification is good for 2 years. Participants must complete prerequisites (Must be 15 years old, swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes without using hands, swim & retrieve a 10 pound object from water 7-10 feet deep in less than one minute and 40 seconds), attend all classes and pass written and practical exams. Participation does not guarantee certification. Fee includes $50 non refundable deposit at time of registration.
