Registration Procedures
Refunds & Cancellations
ResponsibilitiesThe Chicago Heights Park District assumes no responsibility for injuries or loss of personal property while attending a Park District-sponsored activity or facility. We ask that all participants in Chicago Heights Park District programs carry their own medical insurance. Though we make every effort to minimize situations that could lead to injuries, accidents can happen. Group coverage through the Park District is not available because the high costs of medical insurance prohibit us from offering quality programs at their current low rates.
Waivers of LiabilityTo participate in any Chicago Heights Park District program, you must sign a waiver releasing the Park District of any liability. Applications being taken for park rentals January 2020. Park opens May 2020.
Board MeetingsThe Chicago Heights Park District Board of Commissioners meeting is held the second Monday of each month at 7 pm at the Recreation Center, 1400 Chicago Road. Meetings are open to the public, if you are interested, please feel free to attend.
ParentsYou are an important part of your child's learning process and we encour-age you to become as involved as possible. However, our instructors have found that the quality of instruction is affected by parent and/or sibling distractions. You are always welcome to discuss your child's progress with his/her instructor. We hope that your child will attend class independently. With your child's best interest in mind, you are invited to attend the last class of the session. Thank you for your cooperation.
Park PermitsAll parks are open to everyone's use during regular park hours of dawn to dusk. The Park District will be issuing permits to resident groups of Chicago Heights starting January 1st to individuals who wish to reserve parkland areas. Requests for 2020 park rentals are now being accepted.
Park WatchPlease call Chicago Heights Park District Police Department at (708) 390-7450.
Do It Today - Don't DelayIf you wait until the last minute to register, the program or class you want to attend may not be available. At some point, we have to determine if enroll-ment is sufficient to hold the class and may have to be cancelled due to low enrollment. Call the Chicago Heights Recreation Center to register today! (708) 755-1351.
Would you like to teach a class? We are always searching for "something new" to offer our residents. Maybe you have a new and fun or creative idea for a program you would like to share. You might have special talent that you can share. If this offer applies to you, please call our Program Director, Wanda Rodgers-Spruell at (708) 755-1351 ext. 112.

Scarf Around the TreeTis’ the season to GIVE! We invite all churches, organizations, and families to join us in our 4th Annual “Scarf Around the Tree” event. What a wonderful feeling to provide warmth for those in need. These scarves are a gift to homeless people who are being exposed to the dangerous winter temperatures. While it may seem like a small gesture, it’s a sign that there are people out there who care. Something as simple as a scarf can help keep a homeless person a little bit warmer this holiday season. Let’s make it a party! This year we will have Christmas music, cookies, hot chocolate and sing Christmas music while we wrap scarves and other warm goodies for those who are in need around the trees in the Alex Lopez Park. Please bring new or slightly used scarfs, gloves, hats, and socks too.If you cannot participate in this event, just drop off your donations before Tuesday, December 17th. Thanks!
