The Edwardian era was a “golden age” for wealthy aristocrats living in hugemanor houses, who reveled in luxury, leisure and extravagant entertaining. The lower class of domestic servants fulfilled the needs and whims of their rich employers. The winds of change brought a time of greater social mobility withinthe rigid British class system.

Two Visions – One Dream

Emily Moore, Head of Youth Services at the Vogelson Branch of the Camden CountyLibrary System in Voorhees received the NJLA Rising Star Award on June 3. TheRising Star Award is given to librarians with less than five years of experience whodemonstrate great promise, potential, innovation and creativity.

An example of Emily’s work is how she organized a very successful Big Play Date inlate March for children, parents and other caregivers. With the help of the VoorheesRegional Library’s staff and others, the program effectively showed how caregiverscan use simple, everyday-items around the house to play and interact with theirchildren in a meaningful way. The program was attended by over 200 children,parents and other caregivers.

Candace Worrell, Librarian at the South County Branch of the Camden CountyLibrary System in Winslow Township, was presented with the NJLA Best Practices inEarly Literacy Award on June 4.

Candace’s Sensory Story Time is one of four programs statewide selected to receivea $1,000 grant to be used for literacy programming.

The Children’s Librarian regularly runs creative programs at the branch in WinslowTwp. such as Bouncing Babies and Books, Milk and Cookies Story Time and a PoohParty to celebrate the birthday of the beloved children’s story book character Winniethe Pooh, all scheduled this summer.

Mad Science Visits with Dry Ice Experiments and Ooey Gooey Slime!

Ages 4 to 12 Children will have lots of fun exploring states of matter and making their very own SLIME to take

home. We’ll do all kinds of smokey, slime experiments as we demonstrate the unique properties ofdry ice and the spooktacular “smoke” it creates. We’ll see screaming spoons, shivering quartersand a spooky haunted fog surrounding our guests. A thrilling grand finale will have each child

making their own oooey gooey slime to take home as a souvenir.

It’s easy. Just drop off your donation(s) at any one of ourbranch library locations – Bellmawr, Riletta I. Cream -Ferry Avenue (Camden), Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp.Merchantville, Nilsa I.Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch(Camden), South County (Winslow Twp.) and Voorhees.

All books collected will be distributed by the CamdenCounty Children’s Services Department to children inneed who live throughout the county in time for theholidays. Knowing the importance of literacy, a donatedchildren’s book truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

It’s easy. Just drop off your donation(s) at any one of ourbranch library locations – Bellmawr, Riletta I. Cream -Ferry Avenue (Camden), Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp.Merchantville, Nilsa I.Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch(Camden), South County (Winslow Twp.) and Voorhees.

All books collected will be distributed by the CamdenCounty Children’s Services Department to children inneed who live throughout the county in time for theholidays. Knowing the importance of literacy, a donatedchildren’s book truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

Mad Science Visits with Dry Ice Experiments and Ooey Gooey Slime!

Ages 4 to 12 Children will have lots of fun exploring states of matter and making their very own SLIME to take

home. We’ll do all kinds of smokey, slime experiments as we demonstrate the unique properties ofdry ice and the spooktacular “smoke” it creates. We’ll see screaming spoons, shivering quartersand a spooky haunted fog surrounding our guests. A thrilling grand finale will have each child

Two Visions – One Dream

Emily Moore, Head of Youth Services at the Vogelson Branch of the Camden CountyLibrary System in Voorhees received the NJLA Rising Star Award on June 3. TheRising Star Award is given to librarians with less than five years of experience whodemonstrate great promise, potential, innovation and creativity.

An example of Emily’s work is how she organized a very successful Big Play Date inlate March for children, parents and other caregivers. With the help of the VoorheesRegional Library’s staff and others, the program effectively showed how caregiverscan use simple, everyday-items around the house to play and interact with theirchildren in a meaningful way. The program was attended by over 200 children,parents and other caregivers.

Candace Worrell, Librarian at the South County Branch of the Camden CountyLibrary System in Winslow Township, was presented with the NJLA Best Practices inEarly Literacy Award on June 4.

Candace’s Sensory Story Time is one of four programs statewide selected to receivea $1,000 grant to be used for literacy programming.

The Children’s Librarian regularly runs creative programs at the branch in WinslowTwp. such as Bouncing Babies and Books, Milk and Cookies Story Time and a PoohParty to celebrate the birthday of the beloved children’s story book character Winniethe Pooh, all scheduled this summer.
