    Peace Dividend Trust Fellows Program

    Peace Dividend Trust (PDT) Fellows Program for the Fall term is a part-time

    fellowship that is open to dynamic graduate students who are committed tochanging the way the aid industry works. Applicants must be currently enrolledin programs of business, international economics, international/public affairs orsocial policy and should already have some relevant work experience. Theyshould be able to clearly articulate how their knowledge of, and interest in, socialenterprise will enable them to contribute to aid effectiveness within PDTs field ofwork.

    Organizational Overview: Organizational Overview: Peace Dividend Trust(PDT) is a non-profit social enterprise that tests and scales new ideas thatimprove the impact and efficiency of aid and peacekeeping. Operating in Timor-

    Leste, Haiti and Afghanistan, with plans to expand into Liberia, PDT hasredirected over $650 million in international spending into these local economiesand created the first ever mission start-up guide for the launch of new U.N.peacekeeping operations. In 2010, the Skoll Foundation recognized PDT as oneof a handful of social enterprises affecting measurable and sustainable change inthe developing world. U.S. President Obama awarded the organization the G20SME Finance Challenge prize at the annual heads of state gathering in Seoul,Korea in November 2010.     Position Overview

    The participating Fellow will work under the mentorship of both the PDTEconomist and PDTs NY based Projects Director. S/He will augment theirprofessional skills and knowledge in projects documenting the impact that bothinternational donors and PDT have on local economies. The PDT Fellow will alsohave the opportunity to focus on program strategy and management. The fellow

    will build his/her professional and managerial capacity by working on the award-

    winning Peace Dividend Marketplace project. This will include strategizing ways

    to improve PDT's operational impact.

    All candidates must show that they have a strong interest in translating ideas and

    concepts into implementable solutions. Practical project management experience

    and a familiarity with post-conflict contexts is preferred. Additionally, candidatesshould have a solid grounding in social enterprise focused research and showthat they have a firm understanding of quantitative research and a solid grasp ofdevelopment and social issues.

    Duration: The Fellowship is a part-time position starting the first week ofSeptember and finishing at the end of November 2011
