AIR CONDITIONING & HEATINGThis course will focus on basic electrical circuits and cooling systems, including control wiring, maintenance, and trouble shooting. Learn through hands on experiences, guided by a licensed professional.

AUTO BODYRestore a project of your own or prepare for your ASE exams. Learn basic surface preparation, methods of metal work, and correct painting and buffing techniques. Students must provide and bring their own projects to class.

AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE BASICSIntimidated by the idea of auto maintenance? This course will walk you through the basic components of routine automotive maintenance, including fluid maintenance, tire rotation, basic tune ups, troubleshooting, and more! Students must provide own personal protective equipment.

BUS DRIVER TRAININGThis course covers legal controls, emergency procedures, student behavior management, defensive driving, bus loading, railroad crossing safety, vehicle inspection, emergency evacuation, skill maneuvers, and over–the–road driving. Students must be 18 years of age and have passed the written CDL exam with passenger (P) endorsement and school bus (S) endorsement at least 10 days prior to the

start date of class. 100% attendance is required to complete this course. Testing is scheduled by the Department of Public Safety based on the State-Tester’s availability. No air brakes. Prerequisite: Proof of CDL permit with required endorsements at least 10 days before the class begins. Students opting not to test on the scheduled day of testing will be required to set up a private test at a cost of $50 per test, if opting to test through MATC. Discount unavailable.

BUS DRIVER – P & S ENDORSEMENT PREPAre you preparing for the Bus Driver course and need a guide to obtaining your Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements? This course will walk you through what you need to know and how to prepare for the P and S Endorsement exams.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE (CDL) PREPThis class will not result in a CDL credential, but if you have doubts or fears about taking the CDL general knowledge exam, this class will help to prepare you for success. The class will cover information about general safety, hazardous materials, hauling passengers and other CDL endorsements. Actual Department of Public Safety CDL tests, credentials and endorsements are administered by the Driver’s License Bureau, not MATC. Discount unavailable.

FURNITURE MAKINGThis course teaches students the basic project planning and

layout, and the use of miter saws, table saws, planers, jointers, routers, and many other types of specialized machinery provided by the school. Each student chooses his/her own project(s) to build (such as a table, shelf units, or cabinets for a kitchen or a garage) and furnishes his/her own building materials. Students of all experience levels are welcome.

RESIDENTIAL WIRINGThis course will cover the fundamentals of residential wiring. The objectives will include wire gauges and amperage, basic wiring, breaker boxes, and electrical codes. Come gain valuable knowledge and skills in the field of electrical wiring.

SCHOOL BUS INSPECTIONThis course is the updated State Department of Education Bus Inspection program that will be required for all existing bus inspectors before July 1, 2021. The course includes lecture and hands-on training, and meets the requirement for school bus inspection certification. Prerequisite information is pending. Speak with office prior to enrolling.

SMALL GAS ENGINE REPAIRReceive instruction in small engines including fuels, lubrication, cooling and ignition systems, tune–ups, reconditioning, and the use of special tools and equipment. This course is for beginner and advanced students alike. Bring a project to work on and learn through hands-on experience.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)Join the exciting career field of the Emergency Medical Technician, a health care professional on the front lines of pre–hospital medical care. This course consists of classroom training and off-site clinical shifts. Course work includes anatomy, physiology, assessment and trauma care. Successful completion prepares you for the psychomotor and written national registry examinations required for licensure. Students must have inoculation record, first hepatitis B shot, and Flu Shot within the first 4 weeks of class. Students must be at least 18 years of age and must purchase their own clinical uniforms. Students will be subject to a current drug screening and background check. Minimum clinical competencies must be met. Discount Unavailable.

SECURITY GUARD PHASE I & II (UNARMED GUARD)The basic security guard class provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to function as a licensed security guard. This course meets all CLEET requirements for training in Oklahoma. All 40 hours must be attended with passing grades, 100% attendance. Phase I and II are needed for unarmed security guard only. Must be 18 years of age. Additional $35 Testing Fee required (at the end of training) Discount unavailable.

SECURITY GUARD PHASE IV (ARMED)This course is required for licensed security guards who wish to carry a firearm while on duty. Instruction includes classroom training, range procedures, and the firing of revolvers or semi–

automatics (instructor will approve the firearm). The student can take the course with either a revolver or semi–auto but not both. Range dates will be determined by the instructor and will be during the weekend. Attendance at all class sessions is required. This course meets all CLEET requirements for training in Oklahoma. Daytime Programs

EQUINE PRODUCTIONThis program is designed to introduce students to the care and management of horses. Students will be instructed in the selection of feeds, health maintenance, selection, breeding techniques, genetics, and skills to become gainfully employed in an equine related career.

HORTICULTURE TECHNICIANThis class introduces students to safe practices, use of tools and equipment, planting techniques, plant care, safe uses of chemicals and testing soil as related to the horticulture industry. Students will learn basic floral design, greenhouse management, basic landscape design, and installation.

VETERINARIAN ASSISTANTVeterinary Assistants feed and bathe animals, administer medication as prescribed by the veterinarian, assist the veterinary team with animal nursing techniques, and clean and sanitize labs, equipment and surgical areas. Students learn how to provide large and small animal care, including preventive care, post-surgical care, diagnostic processes, and basic office procedures. Students practice in a variety of settings as chosen by the instructor. Upon completion of this course, students have the experiences and skills necessary to become employed in a veterinary clinic, veterinary hospital, or farm/ranch operations.

AUDIO VISUAL INTEGRATIONStudents will learn to install, configure, troubleshoot and repair complex residential and light commercial systems. The systems they are responsible for include audio-visual storage, distribution and presentation; automation of lighting, applications, irrigation, and environmental control systems; and monitoring of smoke, fire, and intruder systems.

BUILDING & PROPERTY MAINTENANCEThis program will introduce students to the safe practices, tools and equipment, chemical safety and uses, and skills required to enter building maintenance occupations. The student will also be provided the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to safely operate tools associated with the landscaping maintenance industry and basic carpentry skills.

CADDThis program prepares students for a career in a Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) or for advancing to a college or university to pursue a higher degree. Students learn to convert ideas and objects into working drawings that meet current drafting industry standards. They do this by mastering and utilizing both computer-aided software and hand-sketching techniques. Courses include but are not limited to; Intro to CAD, Drawing and Document Management, and Presentation Graphics Animation (3D Modeling) all with an emphasis on Architectural Drafting.

RESIDENTIAL CARPENTRYThis program will introduce students to all areas related to residential carpentry. Students will be exposed to safety, framing, roofing, drywall, cabinetry, and a variety of interior/exterior finishes.

RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL ELECTRICIAN’S ASSISTANTThis class provides an understanding of the basic fundamentals of electricity and its practical applications, instructs the student in direct current and alternating current circuitry, teaches residential and commercial wiring, and gives the student an understanding of the National Electrical Code and how it applies to safe electrical installations. Students learn to install, diagnose and repair electrical systems. After completion, students may continue their training toward their journeyman licensure.

RESIDENTIAL HVAC TECHNICIANThis program is an introduction to air-conditioning and refrigeration, exploring career opportunities in the HVAC/R industry, personal safety and work practices, and personal protective equipment. Students will be instructed in the proper handling of pressurized fluids, handling hazardous substances, hand and power tools, and equipment used to test and service air conditioning.

GRAPHIC DESIGNThis career major prepares students for future roles in the graphic and advertising design industry. Students study typography, color theory, principles of design and composition, page layout, vector and raster images, and their applications to a variety of methods and styles of editing and print production. Students learn essential Adobe CC software to help create various types of graphic design and to prepare artwork for digital press production, wide format printing, vinyl signage, and screen printing. Safety, fundamentals of technology, proofing principles, finishing operations and digital photography are also covered. Study materials provided can also be used to prep for Adobe certifications.

MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANTThis class prepares students for diverse employment opportunities in a variety of health care facilities. Students will learn front and back office procedures including; administrative procedures, medical terminology, medical insurance, patient billing, electronic health records, vital signs, phlebotomy, and advanced computer skills related to the medical industry. As the medical field is evolving into a digital workforce, students are required to be adept at electronic health records as well as safety and privacy regulations. Students gain valuable knowledge in customer service, foundations of a medical office, and the skills needed to be successful citizens and employees.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)This one-year program is intended to prepare students for work with a basic or advanced life support ambulance service. They will also be prepared to provide basic emergency care in other settings. The student who successfully completes the course will be eligible to take the National Registry of EMT’s exam at the EMT level (must be at least 18 years of age to sit for the exam) and obtain licensure in the state of Oklahoma.

HEALTH CAREERS EXPLOREThis program is for students with an interest in health issues or those who are undecided about a career area, this one-year class provides the information and opportunities for making an informed choice. Students will get an overview of occupations in the health care field by touring medical facilities and prepare for a job in area nursing homes/hospitals/laboratories by learning basic nursing & home health skills including phlebotomy and pharmacy technician. Students are expected to achieve Certified Nurse Aid credentials.

PRACTICAL NURSING (POST-SECONDARY ONLY)The Practical Nursing course is ten (10) months in length and consists of 1463 clock hours. Each year the program begins in August and finishes in June. Students interested in this program can prepare now by taking a medical terminology course for college credit or from Mid-America Technology Center and a Healthcare provider CPR course, as both are required before entry. A certified nurse assistant course is suggested. The entrance test required during the application process is the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills). PRE-NURSINGThis program prepares high school seniors and adult students to transition to the Practical Nursing Program.Students will build upon basic Certified Nurse Aide skills. Selected advanced skills such as EKG, legal and ethical aspects of health care, and appropriate behaviors are presented in a format combining classroom instruction, lab exercises, and clinical applications. Students will study medical terminology and anatomy & physiology. TEAS test prep is also included in this course. (Prerequisite: CNA Certification)

THERAPEUTIC HEALTH CAREERSTherapeutic Health Careers is a one-year program for individuals interested in the careers of athletic training, occupational therapy, physical therapy, fitness, and exercise science. This program includes course work and practical hands-on application in the following areas: prevention and treatment of orthopedic injuries, taping and wrapping of injuries, first aid/CPR, emergency procedures, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, applied concepts in fitness/exercise, and other current topics in industry. Completion of this course would give the student knowledge for entry level positions in the physical therapy setting.

HOSPITALITY SERVICE ASSISTANTThis course of study introduces students to the world of work in the field of service careers in the hospitality industry. It is designed to help students make a successful transition from school to work. The curriculum is prepared to aid and instruct students in employability skills and specific occupational skills. Training for specific occupational skills is provided in the classroom as well as in simulated work-site learning.

=COSMETOLOGYThe objective of this program is to prepare students to pass the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology License Examination. Students must complete 1,000 hours of training during their junior and senior years and receive a high school diploma to be eligible to take the state board exam.

CYBER SECURITYThis class prepares students to plan, coordinate and implement security measures for networking systems. Students first learn the basics of repair and maintenance of computer hardware, software and operating systems along with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware. Then they are introduced to basic security principles involving networks and operating systems, including the current threats and vulnerabilities of the cyber landscape. They gain an understanding of the principles of risk management, security architectures, incident handling, disaster recovery, ethical hacking, and secure systems administration. Students gain skills required for certifications offered by Microsoft and CompTIA.

MULTIMEDIA SPECIALISTThe multimedia program prepares students for the field of interactive multimedia. The students use “state of the art” Adobe software to create and edit: websites, videos, graphics, animation, and basic 3D designs. The program also covers industry standard photography and video principles such as camera handling and design strategies. Customer service, marketing, project management and professionalism are also included in the curriculum. Successfully completing the program allows the student to develop skills required for the Adobe ACA industry certifications.

NETWORK SYSTEMS TECHNICIANStudents in this major will learn to design, install, configure and troubleshoot network installations. This will include the programming and installation of network routers, switches, Wi-Fi and other network software and hardware. Students will also learn about category 5, 6 and fiber optic cable termination and installation. This class also includes training in the installation and management of a server environment using Windows Server Operating Systems, VMware application, Network Array Storage (NAS) in conjunction with other server components. The training received as part of this class can include certifications from CompTIA Net+ and A+, Microsoft and Cisco. Students will also learn to program using Java to develop software for personal computers and applications on the Android platform.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE OFFICERThis program is an introduction to the historical background, professional direction, agencies and processes, purposes, functions, ethics, administration, and technical problems of the criminal justice system. Areas examined are municipal, state, and federal systems.

CNC MACHINISTThis program prepares students for an entry-level job in the machining and metals industry. Students will learn the techniques and skills of shaping metals by using lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses and computerized machinery.

COMBINATION WELDER/NCCER LEVEL 2 PLUSThis program is an introduction to common welding and cutting processes used in metal fabrication of structural steel. Students will be introduced to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxy-Fuel Cutting (OFC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Air Carbon Arc Cutting (AAC), metal preparation and heat-treating. Students will also be introduced to blue print reading and construction of items according to specifications.

MECHATRONICSThis program prepares students for a career in robotics, industrial maintenance, process control or electronics. Mechatronics technicians install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair automated equipment controlled by electronic and computer systems used in a variety of applications. Students will build ground drones and quad-copter aerial drones, install, calibrate and troubleshoot process control loops, motor controls, PLC’s, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems. High demand areas include petroleum, manufacturing, medical equipment, renewable energy, food processing, aerospace, defense, and telecommunications.

PRE-ENGINEERINGThe Pre-Engineering Program is designed to prepare high school students for success in colleges of engineering. Courses offered are AP Calculus BC, Trigonometry, General Physics, and four engineering courses specifically designed to introduce students to the field of engineering and bring mathematics and science to life with hands-on, project-, and problem-based learning. Pre-Engineering students gain academic knowledge and skills necessary for success in a college-level engineering program and gain an understanding of the engineering field so they can determine if engineering is a career they wish to pursue.College credit is available upon passing the AP Calculus BC Exam. Please note since universities differ in their recognition of AP course credit, the amount of college credit earned is dependent upon the policies of the specific university a graduate plans to attend.

AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIANIn this program, the students will learn about the history, current state and future of the automotive service industry. Students are prepared for entry-level employment or college in one or more of the eight ASE areas. All eight areas are introduced, with specialization in Brakes, Electrical, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, and Steering and Suspension. The course consists of classroom and hands-on live work projects.

COMBINATION COLLISION REPAIR TECHNICIANThis class provides the student with instruction needed to develop a working knowledge of basic techniques in automotive collision. Theory and/or shop experience are gained in the areas of collision repair; spot, panel and overall painting; color mixing; frame and unibody alignment methods; and automotive mig welding.

MEDIUM/HEAVY DIESEL SERVICE TECHNICIANStudents in this program will learn skills needed to be able to cover the diagnosis and repair of the modern diesel truck. They will cover safety, tools, and equipment operation for the repair industry; learn about electrical theory, electrical system repairs, brake systems, engine repair, climate control system, steering/suspension systems and the drive train. Students will cover Engine Performance and Drivability diagnosis using diagnostic tools to determine necessary action. Students will learn how to test and replace the components of all of these systems. In addition, students will learn about the preventative maintenance inspection and service procedures, regulations, and documentation. This program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation in all 8 areas: Brakes, Steering and Suspension, Drivetrain, HVAC, Electrical/Electronics, Preventive Maintenance, Diesel Engines, and Hydraulics.
