We’ll view Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental U.S., see a small town parade, do a hands-on art project at an Indian Museum on the Paiute Reservation, visit the famous Galen Rowell Art Gallery, learn about the history of the Los Angeles Water Wars, and have a narrated tour of the Alabama Hills where many of the movies were made in the 40s & 50s and much more!

Day One – Saturday, October 8

Baggage check is 7:00AM for a 7:30AM Departure. Enjoy a continental breakfast as we make our way through the Sier-ra’s. We’ll stop in Minden for a no host lunch at the Carson Valley Inn. Then it’s back on the bus to Mono Lake, one of the oldest lakes in the western hemisphere. We’ll visit the Mono Lake Visitor Center with a variety of things to see and do!

Plan to arrive in Bishop at the dinner hour, where you will check into the Travelodge of Bishop. You’ll have some time to unpack before we take a short walk for a hosted dinner at Whiskey Creek Restaurant, Gift Shop & Saloon.

Day Two – Sunday, October 9

Continental breakfast is in the Lobby from 6:00-10:00AM. We’ll depart at 9:00AM with our fi rst stop at the Manzanar Na-tional Historic Site where we will stop at the Visitor Center and watch the 22 minute fi lm “Remembering Manzanar” and/or spend some time looking at the exhibits to get a glimpse of life at Manzanar. The next stop will take us to Lone Pine in Owens Valley. Enjoy a no host lunch on our own in this friendly town and enjoy the small town parade. After lunch we’ll gather for a docent-led tour of the famous Alabama Hills. The day ends with a hosted dinner at Astorga’s Mexican Grill.

Day Three – Monday, October 10

Continental breakfast is in the Lobby from 6:00-10:00AM. We’ll depart at 9:00AM and head to Laws Railroad Museum, sure to take you back in time! We’ll enjoy a hosted brunch at The Restaurant at Convict Lake. The afternoon will fi nd us on the bus, making a several stops, including a stop at Mammoth Mountain. Enjoy an early evening cocktail reception hosted by your trip escorts, with time on your own for a no host dinner.

Day Four – Tuesday, October 11

Continental breakfast is in the Lobby from 6:00-10:00AM. We’ll depart at 8:00AM to meet our Step On Guide. We’ll visit the Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center and make a native craft of our very own, and travel through the historic Round Valley. Enjoy a no host lunch on your own and time to rest, relax and enjoy the area. We’ll meet at 5:00PM and travel to the Bishop Country Club for a plated elegant dinner.

Day Five - Wednesday, October 12

Baggage check is 7:30AM. Catch a continental breakfast in the lobby and plan to depart at 8:00AM. We’ll stop at the famous Erick Schat’s Bakery and pick up our box lunch and make our way into June Lake Loop. From there we will head into Bodie with our lunch, with time to visit this California gold-mining ghost town, where we can walk down the desert-ed streets in a town that once had a population of nearly 10,000 people! We’ll arrive in Sonora and check into the hotel and travel to Jamestown for a hosted dinner at The National Hotel. The rest of the evening is on your own.

Day Six - Thursday, October 13

Enjoy continental breakfast and a leisurely morning. Baggage check will be at 9:30AM.We’ll head to Columbia State Historic Park…visiting Columbia is like traveling back in time to the sights, smells and sounds of the 19th Century mining town! Our last stop will be Angels Camp, where we will stop and enjoy a hosted lunch at Camps Restaurant. Plan to arrive back in Sun City Roseville at 5:00PM.
