Gone but Not Forgotten a Freedlander Legacy depicts the origin and growth of a unique familywned business for more than a century. One of the last independent department stores in theountry, Freedlanders was established as The Buffalo One Price Clothing House in 1884.

Founder David Freedlander stood by the practice of a one-price policy that became the

tandard in retail stores. This memoir takes the reader on a journey from the days of the packeddler to 1989 when Harold Freedlander, Davids grandson, retired and sold the store.

nn Freedlander Hunt, the fourth and last generation of the H. Freedlander Company sharesn affectionate and historical view of her familys department store. She shares the continued

rowth and success through principled business practices. Customers recall the liberal returnolicy and the personal service they received. The success of this retail enterprise createdustomer loyalty that spanned generations. People from all over Northeast Ohio enjoyed theenefits of the stores contributions to the community and beyond.

This tribute takes the reader behind the counter, on buying trips, and across the years asappy customers and former employees share their fond, funny, and touching memories of aygone era.
