Parent Child Swim ProgramsThis YMCA program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children age 6-36 months. Four levels of progression will see your child through water adjustment and onto basic skills. Program instruction is directed toward helping you work with your child. Each child is always accompanied by one parent. Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Shrimp Age: 6-8 months. Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 3: Inia Age: 13-18 months. Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Preschool Swim Lessons (3-5yr)This program offers children their first experience in the water without a parent. Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming, including: water propulsion, floating, body awareness and independence. They are also taught some general aquatic safety and pool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of various IFD's (instructional flotation devices). Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Pike The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Eel Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: Ray In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Youth Swim Programs (6-12yr)This program follows the YMCA of the USA's guidelines to swim lessons. There is a focus on five main points: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games, and rescue. Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Polliwog This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Adult Swim ProgramsAdult Beginner Swim Lessons Never learned to swim? Need some confidence to get into the pool? This is the class for you. This class will teach you the beginner moves of floating in the water on your stomach and back as well as beginning to move through the water.

Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons If you can already float and move in the water, this is the class for you! We will help you improve your swimming ability!
