Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques. This course is intended to prepare technicians for the certification test. There are four categories of technician certification – Type I, Type II, Type III, and Universal. The test will contain four sections and the technician must achieve a minimum passing score of 70 percent in each section in which they are to be certified. A passing score must be obtained on Section A (general questions) to receive any certification. Type I, II, and III certification will be obtained upon passing each of those sections of the test and Universal Certification requires passing all sections of the exam. Early registration (Friday, July 28th) is required in order to distribute the Preparatory Manual and practice exam links. Students must review and study the manual prior to the classroom date. A review will be conducted the day of the exam and the test be administered.
