Lunch is included both days.

Collaborative Family Law (also called Collaborative Practice and Collaborative Divorce) is a cutting edge legal process that creates a constructive and respect-ful environment to resolve disputes, and one that focuses on each person’s needs, essentially putting con-trol of the outcome in the participants’ hands. This type of alternative dispute resolution process coordinates and fosters the cooperation of all persons involved, to eliminate the negative economic and emotional consequences of litigation. The Collaborative Process allows clients to maintain their dignity, to protect the best interests of their children, and to use communication and problem-solving techniques to resolve their dispute, all without court intervention.

At this seminar, partici-pants will learn the new rules regarding the debtor’s name and will learn about the new UCC1 and UCC3 forms. Par-ticipants will also learn the transition rules, in order to maintain the effectiveness of current UCC filings.

This seminar will also cov-er Article 9 in Arkansas from start to finish. Participants will learn how to perfect a security interest in every category of Article 9 collat-eral and any unique issues involved in those catego-ries. Considerable time will be devoted to farm-related collateral (farm equipment, farm products, and farm accounts) and to fixtures,

timber to be cut, and as-ex-tracted collateral. The de-fault provisions of Article 9 will also be dealt with exten-sively.

Participants will also learn that subsequent events (for example, name changes and changes in the debtor’s loca-tion) can adversely impact the secured party’s security interest unless the secured party takes action within certain time frames. Partic-ipants will also learn about the purchase money securi-ty interest “super priorities” relating to equipment, in-ventory, cattle, and comput-er software and how to ob-tain those super priorities.

Gun TrustsIncreasingly, clients are requesting advice on how to protect and will their guns to future generations. Come to the Remington Gun Club to learn about gun trusts and how to set them up. Then afterwards join us for a fun time trap shooting.

You will learn the basics of music copyright law (and all copy-rights), including how to establish a copyright for a song or any ar-tistic creation, and how to register that copyright. We will cover the origins of copyright and what it means.

We will explore the two copyrights in every song and why that can lead to disputes and loopholes.

Jim Jesse will cover the basic and exclusive rights an artist gets with a copyright, and what those rights mean. This discussion in-cludes music sampling and whether you need to get permission to use a sample. We will listen to some famous uses of music sampling from the early days through today. We will also discuss the intri-cacies of public performance and who gets paid for what type of performance.

We will also discuss the new forms of distribution and listening and why that has, and is, changing the face of the music industry.

The latter part of the class involves focusing on some of the most famous copyright cases where you will heara the songs in question — the original song, and the alleged copy. We will review what a plaintiff needs to prove a copyright violation, along with defenses such as “fair use” and potential damages.

Lastly, we will explore how songs are built and why that can lead to more issues in the future of music copyright litigation, including why all songs sound alike.

Jim Jesse loves music and it shows in his seminars.
