Reservations

You must make reservations in advance if you plan to attend one of the holiday parties. Please call the office at 1-800-478-3534. Be prepared to provide the names (and ages of children) of all eligible persons that you are making reservations for. Each shareholder may attend ONE holiday party per year. Please do not make reservations unless you will be attending.

Ticketing

Door Prize Tickets will be issued for shareholders based on our reservation list and brought to each location.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE

The 2015 deadline for ALL scholarship applications will be Friday, March 13th by 5pm Alaska time. Please be sure to submit your scholarship application along with ALL required documents prior to the deadline. Incomplete applications

will not be considered.

The academic scholarship program is available to Class A shareholders seeking to become full or part-time students enrolled in an accredited institution, vocational/technical training program, or cultural & heritage study. Eligible shareholders are encouraged to find additional financial resources to help fund their education.

Award AmountThe yearly maximum for all scholarship award types (undergraduate, graduate, and vocational) will be $2,400 per recipient. Graduate level awards will be apportioned based on the customary practice at their institution at a maximum award amount of $2,400. The lifetime award amount per shareholder is $19,200.

EligibilityScholarship applicants must be Class A (Alaska Native with voting rights) Shee Atiká, Incorporated shareholders in order to be eligible for scholarship awards.

You must have a high school diploma or GED to be considered for an award. While need and academic background may be taken into consideration, other factors may be more important in the committee’s evaluation, such as your personal goals and your commitment to succeed. Please be advised that if your current GPA is less than 2.0 you may be placed on academic probation.

FRANK O. WILLIAMS, JR. RECEIVES THE DR. WALTER SOBOLEFF “WARRIORS OF LIGHT” AWARD

The Shee Atiká, Incorporated Board of Directors nominated Frank O. Williams, Jr. for the Dr. Walter Soboleff “Warriors of Light”

award, which is awarded to someone who uplifts and unifies Native people. At the 2014 Alaska Federation of Natives Convention in An-chorage, Mr. Williams received the prestigious AFN President’s Award.

Frank O. Williams, Jr. is the leader of the T’Dak Dein Taan, Mt. Fair-weather House, also called the Snail House in Hoonah, Alaska. He is Raven and has two Tlingit names: Quaats and Dleit Y’ax Woonei. He was born at Glacier Bay, attended grade school in Hoonah and gradu-ated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in 1953. He then went on to attend college at Western Washington and then served in the National Guard and the US Marine Corp. Frank married Mabel T. Miller and

together they had four children: Ida, Lisa, Julianna and Frank O. III. Frank has received many awards and has been highly recognized for his dedication and service to the Tlingit people and the communities throughout Southeast Alaska. He worked for Mt. Edgecumbe hospital for over 30 years and is now retired and living in Redmond, OR. During his lifetime, Frank helped organize the Alaska Native Board of Health, the National Indian Health Board and served as part of the Sitka Health Association and State Comprehensive Health Planning Council. He also helped organize and serve on the Sitka Community Council and was Chairman of Huna Totem Corporation. He was a member of the Governor’s Advisory Board on Alcoholism and the Governor’s Task Force on Drunk Driving. He was the President of the Alaska Native Brotherhood Grand Camp and President of the Sitka ANB. Frank also established the local ANB Culture Center at the National Park Service and served on its Board of Directors. Frank has won multiple awards including the Lion’s Club Distinguished Service Award, the Tlingit and Haida Central Council Citizen of the Year Award, the Outstanding Alaskan Award, and the ANB Lifetime Achievement Award, among others.
