Delicious Wishes, our annual signature event, was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who supported this amazing night! We had over 25 silent auction items and over 70 attendees, many of whom were Chi Omegas! Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise $6,900 to help grant Lauren’s wish to go on a Disney Cruise! Thank you again to everyone who sup-ported this amazing cause! A special thank you to our sponsor Sullivan Financial Services for your gener-osity and support! We are looking forward to 2015! Since we were only a few hundred dollars off from our goal to raise $7,500 (the total cost to grant a wish) we have decided that a portion of various ticketed programming events throughout the year will go toward our 2015 Delicious Wishes contribution. We appreciate your continued support as we work toward our goal of granting annual wishes to Colorado wish kids!

Candle Pass

As a collegiate member of Chi Omega many of us were able to celebrate momentous events of our sister’s lives such as lavaliering, pinning, and engagement through the Candle Pass. Were you ever standing in a circle count-ing the number of times the lit candle went round? Once for sisterhood, twice for lavaliered, third for pinning, and then finally the fourth for engagement...wondering who would blow the candle out...

What are some of the sisterhood ceremonies you remember sharing with your sisters?

CU/Zeta Recruitment Information: Each year the Zeta chapter of Chi Omega at the University of Colorado in Boulder looks forward to meeting thousands of accomplished young women during the recruitment process. The chapter consists of more than 200 members with diverse talents, backgrounds and interests. Boulder Chi O's are student gov-ernment leaders, varsity athletes, dancers, straight A students, musicians, volunteers, and more! The Chi Omega house at CU is more than 100 years old and sits ideally located across from campus making those walks to class short and sweet. Recruitment Period at CU-Boulder begins on Saturday, Sept. 6 concluding with Bid Day on Wednesday, Sept. 10. For more information on helping out with recruitment, contact Susan Hunter at [email protected] or 303-466-7535.

CSU/Chi Zeta Recruitment Alumnae Night: Recruitment for Chi Zeta will be Sept. 6-9. To get ready it has been a Chi Zeta tradition at the end of their recruitment work week to invite alumnae to the chapter house in Fort Collins and act as our potential new members. It is a wonderful opportunity for the active members to practice what they have learned throughout the week. The date for this event will be Friday, August 22 tentatively to start at 7 pm. Please feel free to contact Lori Poole at [email protected] or 303-903-5892 if you are interested in caravanning to Ft. Collins to help in this recruitment practice.

DU/Zeta Mu's First Fall Recruitment: The new Zeta Mu chapter at the Universi-ty of Denver is participating in their first formal recruitment September. Since none of the women in the chapter have ever recruited before, we would like to invite the alumnae to a mock recruitment in order to help the women understand what recruitment will be like and also to meet our wonderful local alumnae. Mock Recruitment will take place sometime before actual recruitment. More details coming soon so please watch your emails and the Facebook page. Recruitment itself will take place September 19-21. We would love Alum-nae to participate in creating flower arrangements, set up and clean up before and after recruitment events, serving food, etc. Advisors for the chapter will be sending out a survey email for volunteer slots as we get closer to recruitment. For more information please con-tact Rebekah Murray at [email protected] or 314-750-3017.

Zeta Mu Recruitment Needs: The Zeta Mu chapter's biggest needs for their very first Recruitment are monetary donations and volunteers during Recruitment Week Sept. 19-21! In addition, we may be to need borrow 2 couches, 4 side chairs, 2-4 side tables, house plants, and area rugs for recruitment. For more information or how you can donate, please contact ZM Recruitment Advisor Nicole Lyons [email protected] or DACO Collegiate Relations Chair Lori Poole [email protected].

Benefits for Joining

Joining the Denver Alumnae of Chi Omega group is one of the best ways to create new friendships and stay well-connected with other local Chi Omega sisters! Our group offers many sisterhood, philanthropic, social, and leader-ship opportunities. There is a place for every DACO member to flourish! Membership and membership dues are an integral part of our group and foster the growth and success of our amazing chapter into the future! Benefits of dues paid members include discounts to ticketed events, exclusive access to some of our newsletter, invitations to member only events, and a permanent Chi Omega name-tag. Most importantly, the most rewarding benefit of joining our alumnae chapter is to give back to our Fraternity and allow the Chi Omega experience to last a life-time!

..."in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teach-ings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and help-fulness in which there is no discordant note."

Membership Retention and Recruitment Plan

As the Denver Alumnae of Chi Omega chapter continues to flourish, we are excited to announce a new membership retention and recruitment plan for the 2014-2015 fiscal year! We hope that this plan will help us retain our current members while also recruiting emerging alumnae, inactive Chi Omegas in the Denver area, and women who have relocated to the Mile High City! This plan includes monthly meetings with our membership team as well as setting specific monthly, quarterly and yearly goals for our chapter. To get involved with our membership team, or to learn more, please contact Nicole Lyons at 303-886-2552 or [email protected]

Denver Area Panhellenic Thank you to Patricia Cris Villegas and Caiti Glasgo for representing Chi Omega at DAP! DAP accomplishes its purpose through its committees. Among other activities, DAP committees are responsible for holding regular council meetings, offering social and networking events, supporting DAP’s philanthropic endeavors, raising funds for and awarding scholarships, awarding DAP alumnae awards, and helping Caiti attended the DAP Tea on Au-gust 17, 2014 which honored new DAP President, Gina Moore of Delta Delta Delta. National Panhellenic Conference News In July, 2014 National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Chairman Jean Mrasek won the Sigma Nu Medallion of Merit Award. Jean was Chi Omega’s national president from 2004 to 2008 before accepting her role as the Chair-man of the National Panhellenic Conference last October. Jean’s service and leadership are marked by two dis-tinct characteristics: she believes in true collaboration across all boundaries and she believes in the potential of the Greek experience as a force for good in our world. Please join us in welcoming Jean for her contributions to higher education and fraternal movement! The Regent’s Medallion of Merit Award is presented to that man or woman whose excellence and leadership in daily life provides an illustration of The Creed of Sigma Nu Fraternity and sets an example for others.

This past June was Chi Omega's 2014 60th Biennial Convention held at the beautiful Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, FL! The theme of Convention 2014 was "A Symphony of Sisterhood" and focused on the new member pro-gram and the lifetime membership experience in Chi Omega. Denver Alumnae of Chi Omega's ATB/Membership, Nicole Lyons, had the honor to rep-resent our alumnae chapter this year. The five days of Convention were packed with exciting seminars and informational sessions for collegians and alum-nae leadership, inspirational keynote speakers (including our very own past Chi Omega Supreme Governing Council S.H. and current National Pan-hellenic Chairman Jean Mrasek), a beautiful model initiation ceremony, Make-A-Wish fundraising, net-working and social events with Chi Omega sisters from all over, and of course Disney!

There are many exciting things happening with Chi Omega nationally and locally! At Con-vention the delegates elected the Supreme Governing Council of Chi Omega to serve the Fra-ternity as national officers for the 2014-2016 biennium. We are grateful for all of the hard work and dedication to our Fraternity that the outgoing Supreme Governing Council provid-

ed over the years and we celebrate the incoming Council for their excitement and commitment to Chi Omega's future! See last page for more information on the new Supreme Governing Council.

Our Denver Alumnae Keep Chi Omega Ever at Heart! The Nominating Committee served a huge part in the election process of the Supreme Governing Council and this year the committee included two of our very own Denver alumnae: Peggy Rinehart (Chairman of the National Convention Team, University of Denver Zeta Mu Chapter Advisor) and Susan Hunter (Chi Omega Nominating Committee and University of Colorado Zeta Chapter Personnel/Recruitment Advisor.) We are so proud of our Denver alumnae and their volunteerism in our Fraternity locally and nationally!

Our alumnae experience is flourishing! The Supreme Gov-erning Council announced the launch of the Alumnae Connec-tions Team, which will replace our current Regional Alumnae

Director program, and explore a new path to develop and engage alumnae and the alumnae experience with an emphasis on opportunities that will connect, communicate, and gather. National also announced the release of the Chi Omega Alumnae Dashboard, an online resource through the Chi Omega website that is similar to the Chi Omega Chapter Dashboard that collegiate chapters utilize to track and en-gage members and an online fundraising enhancement for Make-A-Wish. Chi Omega Supreme Governing Council 2014Chi Omega Supreme Governing Council 2014--20162016

Chi Omega names Supreme Governing Council at 60th National Conven-tion in Orlando, Florida. At the 60th biennial National Convention of Chi Omega held in Orlando, Florida from June 25-June 29, 2014, the delegates elected the Supreme Governing Council of Chi Omega to serve the Fraternity as national offic-ers for the 2014-2016 biennium. The officers are as follows: S.H. Shelley Eubanks Potter (National President), founding member

and initiate of Xi Kappa Chapter at Texas A&M University S.T.B. Anna Funderburk Buckner (National Vice President), initiate

of Alpha Beta Chapter at Auburn University S.K.A. Jane McWilliams Tankersley (National Secretary), initiate of

Epsilon Delta Chapter at the University of Southern Mississippi S.N.V. Laura Shrode Miller (National Treasurer), initiate of Rho Epsi-

lon Chapter at Texas Christian University S.M. Missy Ganaway Pask (National Ritual Officer), initiate of Sigma

Alpha Chapter at Miami University

From the beginning, strong leadership has been the hallmark of Chi Ome-ga. The Fraternity is flourishing today because of the untiring efforts and wisdom displayed by Governing Council members over the past century. The Council is directly responsible for policy-making and the governance of Fraternity business. The Council members are dedicated volunteers who work day-to-day with the Executive Headquarters staff, NPC delegates, Foundation Board, Chi O Creations Board, national teams and committees and other Chi Omega volun-teers. National President Shelley Potter will also continue to serve as President of the Chi Omega Foundation until her successor is appointed in the near future. The women elected have many accomplishments and involvement with Chi Omega. Complete biographies will be posted soon to www.ChiOmega.com. Chi Omega appreciates the commitment to excellence exemplified by these women and looks forward to the next two years of their collective leadership! To reach a Governing Council member, please email, fax, or write them in care of the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters.
