Dear Compassionate Friend,

LaQuita is a beautiful girl with a sparkling personality to match. Today she’s happy and healthy, cared for by her foster mom until that one special adopter comes along to make her part of their family. Thanks to the support of generous friends like you, LaQuita received the lifesaving surgery she needed to overcome a tragic beginning with grace and dignity -- and always with a smile.

She had been found as a stray: emaciated, shot, and hit by a car. Her leg - the bones shattered by a bullet - could not be saved. But nothing was holding LaQuita back now that her spirit had returned.

It’s only through the generous support of friends like you that LaQuita had a second chance at life. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue’s Help Me Heal Fund exists to provide for special needs animals like LaQuita. These are dogs and cats who are waiting - hoping - for a hero.

The Healing Power of a New Friend Our pets make us whole - whether it’s a jogging buddy, a purring lapwarmer, or even a furry shoulder to cry on. We can count on them to be there.

But sometimes our pets will bring more to us than we ever could have expected.

When the Jensen family adopted a little terrier puppy after their beloved Mollie passed away, they didn’t anticipate the impact she would have on them - and on her new canine brother Brody.

February, 2012Dear Brother Wolf Animal Rescue,

I wanted to send you an update on Pippa who we recently adopted from BWAR. She is seen in the photo thoroughly enjoying the beach with her new brother, Brody.

After losing his best friend Mollie, Brody faithfully moved her rawhide bone to her favorite places around the house: the rug at the front door, her bed in the family room, the kitchen lookout perch, on the loveseat, and all the

other places that Mollie once loved, awaiting her return. When Pippa became our new family member in January, my husband and children fell in love with her right away. More importantly, Brody was able to let his old friend Mollie go and learn to play again.

Pippa’s new life with us is filled with love, good food, a fun playmate, a king-sized bed (whether it’s a 2-dog night, or not), and lots of hugs and toys. In return, Pippa gives us such peace somehow. I think it must be simply loving another life that feels so right. Thank you, BWAR, for seeing that all animals have worth and in particular for rescuing Pippa. The entire Jensen family is extremely happy and feels very lucky that your shelter exists in our area. Please continue the wonderful lifesaving work you do every day.

Many Thanks, Sue Jensen

Two Brothers Found in the Nick of Time!

A good Samaritan discovered six-week old Woody and Batty trapped under heavy logs in a woodpile. They were rushed to the BWAR Adoption Center late that Sunday afternoon, when all other shelters were closed.

With your support, the Adoption Center is open late to assist the public with animals in urgent need every single day of the year.

The veterinarian who examined the kittens

guessed they had been trapped in the woodpile for days; both were very skinny and dehydrated. Batty got away with only a wound to his ear, but Woody’s jaw was dislocated and he couldn’t close his dry, painful mouth. One eye was injured, and the weight of the logs had caused pressure wounds on his face.

Happily, with lots of love and excellent veterinary care the brothers are making a miraculous recovery and will soon be ready to find their forever homes. Please give generously - your support turns sad beginnings into joyful endings every day!

Woody and Batty are feeling lucky to be safe and sound!

This summer Brother Wolf Animal Rescue launched “Critter Camp,” a humane education program to help teach kids kindness and compassion for all animals. Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, BWAR was able to offer scholarships to 10 lucky young people. To learn more go to www.bwar.org/crittercamp.

Greetings from

Hey everyone, Critter Camp is so great! Yesterday I petted a groundhog who was rescued from the road when she was just a baby. They’re really cool animals and we have to watch out for them when we drive! Then we met a service dog, and a parrot named Willow. Did you know parrots can live to 100 years old!? We got to help take care of the cats and dogs in the Brother Wolf shelter - there are lots of cool animals here who need homes! Everyone should adopt their next pet. We watched a puppy get spayed - which made me think that we should fix the stray cats outside right away because there are already too many kittens without homes. We learned about lots of different animals too, like owls, hawks, pigs, and horses. I learned that they all deserve to be treated nicely and with respect. I can’t wait to tell you more! Love, Anna
