he was born in India as Bahagirdas Pradas. his father, the chief priest in the shrine in his area, “believed in idols, worshipped them and prostrated before them, placed food before them, and claimed to have conversed with them.”Even as a young child, he rejected his father’s idolatry, finally entering his father’s shrine and smashing all the statues there. his insatiable search for meaning led him to the study of medicine, where the wonders and complexities of the human body further fueled his quest to unleash the mysteries of the powers of the universe. his chance encounter with Mumbai Chabad Shliach Gabi holtzberg and his wife Rivky - who later perished in the Mumbai terrorist attacks - put him on the path to Torah and ultimately, to Israel. On Friday evening, December 4, 2010, the former director of the of the intensive care unit at Mumbai’s prestigious Breach Candy hospital, Dr. Aaron Abraham, formerly Bahagirdas Pradas will share his incredible larger –than –life story, his search for faith and meaning, at Chabad of Westmount.
