Coordinate all activities of the College Alumni Organization (CALSAO) and its Board of Directors

Assist board in organizing annual Scramble for Scholars golf tournament

Plan and travel to alumni regional events in the Commonwealth featuring speakers from campus and highlighting off-campus facilities and programs

Plan annual Alumni Awards Weekend

Coordinate marketing efforts of CALSAO through online and print media outlets and displays

Cultivate and secure sponsors for various events; cultivate donors for CALSAO endowment funds

NEW! Introduced “Virginia Agriculture” tent at 2010 CALS FALL FEST Homecoming Celebration featuring exhibitors from agricultural organizations and commodity groups along with departments and student organizations

Assist departments in planning anniversaries and with print and e-mail communication with alumni

Collaborate with Recruitment Coordinator to develop materials for board’s assistance in recruitment and to develop the Young Alumni Network

Director of Ambassador Program

Thirty five Ambassadors serve the college by assisting undergraduate recruitment efforts, alumni activities, and career fairs

Develop leadership and team-building activities

Host Welcome Social for incoming freshman and transfer students (250+ in attendance)

Plan and oversee all special events for the college including research symposiums, lecture series, awards ceremonies, celebrations of high achievement, new faculty gatherings, new program launches , new facility introductions, and retirement galas

base and continually striving to strengthen the bond between our alumni, the college, and the university.

Serve as a member of the College of Science Advancement Team, working in conjunction with our Development and Communications office to steward and promote our alumni.

Coordinate alumni and special events for the College of Science Dean’s office.

ALUMNI CAREER RESOURCES PROGRAM

• Consultant hired effective Sept 1st and is housed two days a week in Holtzman Center.

• Focus areas of the program are: Website – www.alumni.vt.edu/career -Revamped with content for alumni

looking for jobs or changing careers. Includes assistance with networking, interviewing, resume writing, etc. Webinars on relevant career topics and ideas are included.

Marketing – A job board containing numerous job openings on Hokie Nation Network is critical in serving our alumni career needs. Marketing campaigns and incentive programs are currently underway to populate the Hokie Nation Network with additional alumni profiles and job postings by employers.

Personal assistance – responding to phone calls and emails from alumni and recruiters, presenting the program at chapter events where career related topics are featured, and creating articles and newsletters to inform Hokies about the program are key success factors .
