Important Dates THE FALCONS FLYER DT Day… Spring 2012 Welcome back to everyone, Christmas and New Year are but a distant memory. Just a reminder with regards to drop o in the morning. Please note that early drop o is from 8:00 to 8:15 and girls must use the side entrance where a teacher will meet them round the back of the school. At his me all sta bar the teacher on early drop o duty, are in a teacher brieng. From 8:15 to 8:30 the front door is opened and a member of the SLT is on duty. Can I also remind all parents who use the riding stable to NOT leave valuables visible, as unfortunately thieves operate in this area and a parent last week had her car broken into and bags snatched and this is not the rst me. Please note that we are slowly shiing towards a paper free environment, so here’s hoping that you have all started vising the VLE .We are starng to pop leers in the parents area and not hand out copies. Congratulaons to our Year 6 girls who today have completed all their exams,” you have all given your very b est” We will rejoice and cele- brate their success towards the end of February when results will be know.  Joan McGillewie 20th January 2012 Drug Education Guest Speaker for  Years 4/5 Monday 23rd January Natural History Museum for Reception Tuesday 31st January Choral Singing Workshop for  Years 2/3 at Falcons Prep Friday 3rd February Reports handed out for Reception to Year 5 Friday 10th February Half Term Monday 13th Friday 17th February V&A Museum for  Year 6 Tuesday 21st February Sports Galore!! In the spring and summer term, we will be focusing on the London 2012 Olympics. All the girls will be given opportunities to learn more about the Olympics, and we will be visited over the terms by a number of positive sporting role models; some of whom the girls will get to train with. I will post more information on these events in future editions of the Falcons flyer.  We have been lucky enough to be joined in February for a training session by some of the ladies from QPR football club. The girls from Years 1 -6 will train on the morning of Wednesday 8 th February in two groups for an hour slot each. It gives the girls the opportunity to learn more about training tech- niques and skills to improve their fitness and football game play. These local sporting female role models will help The Falcons girls to improve their confi- dence in the game of football, and particularly for the older girls, give them a chance to learn about the disciplines that are needed to become successful sportswomen. Miss Walters, PE and Sports Leader

Junior Trinity, a department of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, has teamed up with Alpha Plusschools to extend the popular Saturday school programme to The Falcon School for Girls.We are offering individual lessons & creative musicianship classes in our String Time programme for younger stu-dents aged 3-7 (please note that classes for older children will be available in the near future). The first centre toopen was at St. Anthony’s School in Hampstead. The Trinity Conservertoire in Greenwich has a waiting list of over

200!

FSG Mathematics Parent WorkshopMrs Henry and Mrs Mannan were delighted to see so many of youcome to our first Parent Workshop on Tuesday 10th January. Mrs Man-nan presented an insight into some education theories of how childrendevelop; this included what are our expectations from the childrenateach stage of development. Mrs Henry demonstrated how to use morekinesthetic learning of mathematics at home use every day objectsand situations. Finally we concluded by looking at some written expec-tations from the girls in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6.

Mrs Mannan and Miss Spurling intend to hold an 11+ session nextterm to which you are warmly invited. Watch out for the date in theSummer Calendar.

Mia Lambakis in Re-ception won the Fal-con award for her su-per effort in handwrit-ing. She has been

impressing Miss Cal-der and all of the other teachers with her beautiful presentation.
