Insert the power cable into the battery The Falcon must be operating when you adjust the eyepiece focus for the user. 2. Eyepiece adjustment tools Each Falcon system includes either a ‘Torx’ wrench (T8) with a long metal shaft (different from the blue Philips Screwdriver), or a short red molded tool. 3. Insert the eyepiece adjustment tool into the focus access port on the side of the Falcon Once inserted you can rotate the tool to move the eyepiece in or out. Focusing the eyepiece ‘in’ corrects for myopia, ‘out’ for hyperopia. The adjustable eyepiece will correct for refractive error up to +/- 8D. 4. Positioning the eyepiece The indented ring (red arrow) on the black eyepiece when touching the case (green arrow) is approximately the neutral focus (plano) position. 5. Set the focus to infinity by pressing the focus over-ride button Press and hold the focus over-ride button for 2 seconds until the Falcon changes its focus to infinity and holds in place. The focus may not yet appear clear to the patient. 6. Setting the eyepiece focus 1. Have your patient look through the Falcon eyepiece at a target more than 30 feet (9m) away. Looking through a window is acceptable. 2. Rotate the adjustment tool to move the eyepiece in or out until the image is as sharp as possible for the patient. 3. Reactivate autofocusing by pressing the focus over-ride button very briefly and confirm that the focus is proper at all distances. Readjust focus if required. 4. Remove the eyepiece focus adjustment tool being careful to not rotate it. 7. Lock the eyepiece and close the focus port When dispensing the Falcon to your patient, use the Allen wrench to tighten the setscrew to lock the eyepiece in place. Turn it until it is difficult to turn. Remember to loosen it if you need to re-adjust the eyepiece focus. Close the focus access port by inserting the plug provided. It can be easily removed if the Falcon eyepiece needs to be re-adjusted.

5.Setthefocustoinfinitybypressingthefocusover-ridebuttonPressandholdthefocusover-ridebuttonfor2secondsuntiltheFalconchangesitsfocustoinfinityandholdsinplace.Thefocusmaynotyetappearcleartothepatient.

6.Settingtheeyepiecefocus1. HaveyourpatientlookthroughtheFalconeyepieceatatarget

morethan30feet(9m)away.Lookingthroughawindowisacceptable.

2. Rotatetheadjustmenttooltomovetheeyepieceinoroutuntiltheimageisassharpaspossibleforthepatient.

3. Reactivateautofocusingbypressingthefocusover-ridebuttonverybrieflyandconfirmthatthefocusisproperatalldistances.Readjustfocusifrequired.

4. Removetheeyepiecefocusadjustmenttoolbeingcarefultonotrotateit.

7.LocktheeyepieceandclosethefocusportWhendispensingtheFalcontoyourpatient,usetheAllenwrenchtotightenthesetscrewtolocktheeyepieceinplace.Turnituntilitisdifficulttoturn.Remembertoloosenitifyouneedtore-adjusttheeyepiecefocus.Closethefocusaccessportbyinsertingtheplugprovided.ItcanbeeasilyremovediftheFalconeyepieceneedstobere-adjusted.
