Faith in families
We hope this ‘Faith in families’ booklet will get you thinking
about Jesus and his life and about your lives together. There
are 6 themes to think about and we suggest that you might do
this at the table as you share a meal together. Let us know
how you get on!

Week 2 - Living a
good life
Week 3 - Working
with the Holy Spirit

Our favourite foods are:
Our favourite films are:
What we love about our family is:

Our best friends are:
Things we like to do together:
The best thing about our church is:
What we would like to learn about God:
What we are looking forward to in the next few weeks:
Before we start make a list of some
things you are thankful for – this is
a good way of remembering all the
good things God has given us. This
might be people, things you like to do or food – you can
add to it throughout the week
Week 1
Praying like Jesus
As a family, decide on something
which is going to remind you to pray –
it might be every time you hear a siren,
every time you see a yellow car or
every time you have a drink!
The prayer Jesus taught us (Matthew 6:9-13) is
the best one we can use. See if you can make it
your own.
Our father in heaven I think you are…
Come and bring your kingdom on earth so
everyone will…
Give us… today
Forgive us for…
And protect us from…
Amen!
Week 2
Living a good life
We are not always good and
sometimes we make mistakes,
the Bible tells us that Jesus is
holy and perfect and we should
try to be like him
I think Jesus is good
because…
Give everyone in your family an empty
jar. Try for one whole day not to
complain, moan, grumble or say
anything horrible to anyone. If anyone
does they have to put a sweet in their
jar. Whoever has the least sweets at
the end of the day gets to eat them all!
Try to memorise the first
part of this verse and
say it to one another all
day long ‘God our Father
loves us!’
Some ideas you could use all together to
help you remember the verse
• Write each word on a separate piece of
paper and hide them around the house.
As a family try and piece them back
together
• If one of you starts by shouting the first
word, someone else has to shout the
next word until the verse is complete
• Use the same idea as above but try
passing a ball to one another
• Decorate a poster, bunting or even
balloons with the verse to decorate a
room in your house
Week 3
Working with the
Holy Spirit
To get us thinking why not
read the story of the coming
of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2: 1-
4? Draw yourself here with
flames like the people in the
story
Luke 11:13
YOU
The Holy Spirit is described as
a gift – we can’t see it and it
might be hard to imagine but
the Holy Spirit lives in our
hearts, warns us when we are
going wrong, lights the way for
us and helps us see the world
through God’s eyes
What would you like the Holy Spirit
to help you with today?
Holy Spirit please help me to
………………………………………
………………………………………
…………………………….today.
SELF-
CONTROL
POWER
LOVE
Some gifts of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit also helps us to
worship and praise God, Write or
draw some ideas about how and
why we can praise God
God you are great and even bigger than the
(describe God using something in nature)
You have given me and
(what gifts has God given you?)
I will to give you praise
(what action will you do – sing, jump, shout?)
You are
(what is the best word you can think of
to describe God?)
Week 4
Loving other people
Around the picture write down
the different ways we can show
love to one another
Talk as a family about how we know God loves us
Try putting your own name in the verse instead of the word ‘love’
is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud or
rude. isn’t selfish or quick tempered.
doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do.
rejoices in the truth but not in evil. is always
supportive, loyal, hopeful and trusting. never fails.
Have you fallen out with
someone? Is there someone
you know who feels left out?
Try and find ways to mend
things and put your friendship
back together.
Who might need to know that
you love them today? Think
of a person and find a way to
do something that will make
them feel loved.
We live in a beautiful world
created and designed by
God. God loves it when we
care for his creation. What
could you do today to look
after God’s world?
Week 5
Knowing the Bible
As we begin this theme why not make
yourself a bookmark to put in your Bible
if you have one?
Draw a rectangle 170 x40mm on some card, cut it out and
then create your own design. Use the words ‘The word of the
Lord’ reminding us that we are reading the special words from
God every time we open the Bible
How might the word of God be like these different kinds of
lights?
The Bible is full of great stories,
here are some you could read as
a family
- Jesus feeds 5000 people
(Matthew 14:13-21)
- Jesus walks on Water
(Matthew 14:22-33
- The Birth of Jesus
(Luke 2: 1-21)
You can also listen to a recording
of the New Testament at

word like we need
food to live!

out what your
favourite family
Bible story is.

• Read the whole of Mark’s
Gospel at bedtime
