From the Pastor
Scripture Reading
“And he died for all, that those who live should no
longer live for themselves but for him who died for
them and was raised again” (2 Corinthians 5:15).
"Christ is risen!
He is risen, indeed!"
On Easter Sunday, many of us celebrated and
rejoiced in the resurrection from the dead of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. On our behalf, Jesus
willingly went to the cross to redeem us from sin and
death. “Greater love has no one than this, that one
lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). With the suffering and agony of the crucifixion, Jesus has
“destroy[ed] the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8). In his resurrection, he has given us victory over sin and
death. Alleluia, he is risen!
As we consider all that the Lord Jesus Christ did for us on the cross of Calvary and in his
resurrection, we are compelled to love, honor, and serve him. Christ has redeemed us from sin, death,
and the power of the devil in order that we might be his own and serve him.” As stewards, we respond
to the love shown on Calvary because “love so amazing, so divine … demands my soul, my life, my
all.”
When we give faithfully of our time, talents, and treasures, we respond to the love our heavenly
Father has shown. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Although we speak of Easter Sunday as one particular holy day in the life of the Church, each
Sunday is a “little Easter” and each day we live with the true confidence that, just as Christ has risen
from the dead, so will he raise us. For that we praise Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
In Christ,
Pastor Bodnyk
Prayer Dear Father in Heaven, how quick we are to take for granted, even to forget, the blessings You
have given us in your son, our Savior from sin, death, and Satan. Forgive us our ingratitude and give
us minds, hearts, and bodies willing to put aside selfish interests and eager to live for you. Through
Jesus we pray. Amen.
AFFIRMATION OF BAPTISM: CONFIRMATION This year’s class of young people will be confirmed during
the 10:30 service on Sunday, June 2. After two years of preparation, they are ready to confess their faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ!
Several notes leading up to Confirmation:
-Because Memorial Day is the week before Confirmation, rehearsal for the event will be on Sunday, May 19, during the Christian Ed hour. All confirmands need to be present. Other instructions will be given at that time.
-On the day of Confirmation, there will be a reception honoring the young people, which will be held during the Christian Education hour, after the group photo has been taken. Invited, besides the young people, are parents, siblings, and all other family and friends coming to church to witness this event. Let your invitees know about this!!
THE ALTAR GUILD NEEDS YOU! Over the last many years, we have ha e been blessed with a faithful and hard-working group of people whose role it is to prepare the sanctuary for worship: putting out the correct altar colors, setting up for communion, placing lilies and poinsettias for services, making sure acolytes and crucifers and liturgist are robed, and many other tasks that help our worship flow the way it should. While we have some younger members on Altar Guild, there are some long-time members who for various reasons can no longer serve. This note is a request for more people, men and women, to volunteer their time to help us prepare for worship services. It means getting to church at least a half hour before worship begins to set up the altar, etc., then putting things away after service. Training is basically "on the job:” new people are scheduled to serve with a seasoned AG member. If you are interested, please contact Cathy Haller or talk to Pastor Bodnyk.
CAN WE CONTACT YOU?
If you have a new cell phone number or e-mail address, or if you just feel you aren’t getting any communications from the Church, please call the church office and give us the needed info so we can update our computer information. Also, keep us updated on your children away from home.

Dear Faith;
Thank you all so much for your thoughts
and prayers for my loving wife, Martha. She
was such a wonderful person, so caring and
giving, with a great sense of humor. I miss
her so much and I know you will miss her
smiling face at the church services.
She loved Faith Church and I know that I

Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free, all volunteer program
that helps low and moderate income individuals and families
each year to prepare and file their federal and state income
tax returns. At the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church site,
at two morning sessions each week, volunteer
counselors and greeters helped 270 individuals and
families with their federal and state income tax returns.
All of those tax returns were e-filed. The Faith Lutheran tax
site is one of the largest and most active Tax-Aide sites in the
Allentown district. Without this site most of the people who
were served there would have to travel a significant distance
to reach another Tax-Aide site or possibly go to a paid
preparer to have their tax return done.
Everyone associated with Tax-Aide greatly appreciates and
acknowledges the support and facilities that the Faith
Evangelical Lutheran Church community provides each year
to this important program.
Mike Stegura AARP Tax-Aide Local and District Coordinator
Jordan Euculano, and Faith Church member and
also a Northampton Area High School student,
received the “Community Honor Award” at the
“Hope and Healing Juried Art Show” on April 3rd.
The event was held at the Banana Factory in
Bethlehem. Students were chosen from high schools and
colleges throughout the Lehigh Valley. The program is called healing
through arts. It’s a program where those who are healing find strength and hope
through the arts. After the show, the artwork is sent to hospitals and medical
facilities to help those who need healing. Jordan’s award was in memory of Syllis
Macllwraith-Wagner. Sponsors come before the show to look at the art and then
sponsor an artist. The sponsors pay for the artist and guest to attend the gala and
then award them a prize for their work. Jordan was chosen, among many
candidates from around the valley. We met his sponsor after the show. She is an art professor at Kutztown
University. She had recently lost her dog and was moved by Jordan’s artwork. She was also excited to see
Jordan attending college in the fall for graphic designs. She loved his work.
His artwork is called “A Place Called Home”. His artist message (an artist submits with artwork to explain his
work): “Hope can come in many different forms, and can have an amazing effect on people. For this project, I
wanted to give people a symbol of hope and a reason to heal and live to fight another day. I thought of some
animals that can be used for medical and special services such as a service dog. Then I thought of some place
where people could go to find solace and heal their wounds both mentally and physically. So I combined these
two ideas together to give peoples friend in their time of need and a place to find healing in a place where they
are bedridden. “-Jordan Euculano
My Message to Faith: After seeing Jordan’s work and reading his message... I truly believe that Jordan’s faith
and compassion were the driving forces before his work. We, as a congregation, worry about our
youth. Tonight, for me, was an example that Jordan, who has been at Faith since he was five, gained knowledge
of the Lord, compassion from our church members, and his faith in God from all of you. I’m proud as a mother
and a Christian. His painting has touched many lives already..... I’m sure it will do more in the future. Thank
you for all that you have done as a church to plant those seeds. It means so much to our family. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

ORGAN AND CAPITAL FUNDS
These funds were established in 2018 to dedicate donations for 2 specific areas to accumulate funding for future requirements of major repairs and improvements.
Organ Fund- The Moller pipe organ is over 50 years
old and while in good condition for the years of service, we must prepare for a major overhaul and upgrade to keep the instrument in working order. Three companies have looked at the console, pipes and inner workings of the organ and all concur that at some point, the organ will require major maintenance. The work could be spread over several years, but the total cost for this course of action will approximate $300,000. A committee will be formed to develop a course of action with the existing organ or other options which may be more cost effective. As of March 31, 2019, the total in this fund is $11,196. Last fall, we used this fund to pay $3,060 for the repair of several pipes.
Capital Improvements Fund- This fund
is for all other major repairs or improvements that may be required to the building, grounds or parking lots. The 2019 regrading and surfacing of the lower parking lot would be one project for this fund. However, as of March 31, 2019, the Capital Improvements Fund has only $6,594, therefore, the parking lot will be paid with funds received from the Earl Dreisbach Estate. We will report the amounts in these funds quarterly and thank everyone who is directing some of their weekly giving to these funds. To target funds for these accounts, simply place the amount in “Other” on your envelope and indicate which fund is designated.
Again, thank you for support.
