The most important thing is to be aware of the information provided by the International Students Office,

Study in the Bachelors and Masters (post-Bachelor) programmes is subject to the Study and Examinations
Code of the Charles University, the Rules for the Organisation of Study at the Faculty of Physical Education
and Sport and the Study Plans of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (the “Yellow book”).

When registering for the study, you will learn who is your Student Officer. The offices of the Student Officers
are located in Block H, to the right from reception.

STUDY PLAN
You are in charge of your own study plan, based on the following rules:
1) Your studies are divided into years.
2) The study plan for a particular year consists of obligatory courses and optional courses.
3) Obligatory courses are mandatory and are generated from the system automatically.
4) Register the optional courses for the given year into a timetable for the given semester and in line with the
course teaching programme for the academic year in the Student Information System (SIS) at
https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/index.php
5) Register courses before the beginning of each semester.
6) The minimum number of credits to complete the Bachelor study programme is 180 credits, for the Masters
study programme (post-Bachelor) it is 120 credits.
7) Each course is rated with a certain number of credits. This number usually varies from 1 to 6 credits per
course. When developing your own study plan you must count your credits carefully, so that you do not end the
academic year with insufficient number of credits. If this happens, it means that you cannot be registered for
the following year of study. The minimum values of credits for transfer to the next year are presented in the
Rules for the Organisation of Study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (in the "Yellow
book").
The dates for registration, teaching and review of study results are governed by the Academic Calendar and
other announcements from the International Students Office.

STUDENT ID
As a student of Charles University you are entitled to only one Charles University student ID (even if you are
registered for more than one study programmes of study at Charles University). There are two kinds of ID:
1) Charles University student ID linked to the ISIC international ID, (UK-
ISIC) (International student identity card) – this ID gives you access to
many benefits and discounts, not only in the Czech Republic. A list of all
the benefits can be found at www.isic.cz. The ISIC licence must be
renewed annually.
2) The standard Charles University student ID - this ID can be used only
within Charles University.
You can find more detailed information on IDs and where they are issued at:

Faculty vouchers - are priced vouchers issued for both types of ID. You will
receive them when registering for each year, confirming the validity of your
student ID for the academic year in question. Your student ID is not valid
without the Faculty voucher.

A standard ID is issued free of charge.

CHARLES UNIVERSITY CENTRAL AUTHENTICATION SERVICE
The purpose of the Central Authentication Service (CAS) is:
To verify the identity of users using a log-on name and password for:
- Charles University Information System applications
- Faculty information systems and computer networks
- Password setting in other systems
- For EDUROAM and student dorm computer networks
- In the JINONICE domain
- The eduID.cz federation which gives access to many service providers, in particular for
Issuing personal TCS certificates The Charles University electronic resources portal
The MEFANET medical teaching portals
The Moodle e-learning system
You can log on to CAS at: https://ldap1.cuni.cz/ website
The purpose of CAS is to simplify applications login for users in such a way that they can use the same username
and password everywhere.
Login name - for your login name you can use either your faculty login name, or your personal number, which is
printed on your Charles University ID - under the photograph.

Password - your initial password is generated when you visit the ID issue centre. This password is time-limited to 10
days, therefore you must change it soon. If you fail to do this, you will have to collect a new initial password. Your
password can be reset at any time at: https://ldap1.cuni.cz/reset
Forgotten password - if you forget your password you can change it at: https://ldap1.cuni.cz/reset by giving certain
personal information. But please note that a password obtained in this way is not considered secure and you will lose
access to certain applications. For full renewal of access to all applications you will have to collect a new initial
password in person. You can do this at the ID issue centre.

STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIS)
The Student Information System (SIS) is used at Charles University for registering courses, signing up for the
timetable and deadlines for tests and examinations, submission of your bachelor dissertation, etc.
At the beginning it is very important that you enter your personal data correctly and completely into the SIS. If
you fail to do this, there will be difficulties with communications between yourself and the faculty and you may fail to
receive important information. This responsibility is based on Dean's Instruction No. 6/2010.
Registering in the SIS - you can register at https://is.cuni.cz/studium/login.php
To register you will need your login name and password - details are given in the preceding chapter Central
Authentication Service (CAS).

REGISTERING COURSES AND TIMETABLE
Courses are registered in the SIS on the dates set out in the Academic Calendar.
Registration of courses and schedule is done through the SIS - Subjects and Schedule Registration
The courses which make up your study plan are divided into obligatory courses and optional courses.
Obligatory courses are mandatory and are generated from the system automatically. It is really important that
you concentrate on fulfilling of these courses, since they are important for moving up to the next year.
To gain the right number of credits, you also have to choose a sufficient number of optional courses.
You can find information on what courses you may and must register at Charles University, Faculty of Physical
Education and Sport Study Plans (the "Yellow book"). All courses you register become mandatory for you. For this
reason check your registration before the registration period expires, and withdraw those optional courses which
you cannot or do not wish to attend. Do not register extra courses – as a backup – you would be freezing capacity for
your fellow students and cause problems with the teaching schedule. We recommend that when registration is
complete to print out the courses for which you have registered (it is best to print out the names of courses together
with the dates).

REGISTRATION TO THE HIGHER YEARS OF STUDY The procedure for registering for higher years is as follows:
1) In SIS: use Personal data to print the Personal Record File. This must in all cases be valid for the following
year. For example, if you are studying in the 2016/2017 academic year, the Personal Record File must be
printed out for 2016/2017. You can find the guide for the registration to the higher year at:

2) Bring the University Study Report (“Index book”) with your study results and Personal Record File to the
Faculty Office and give it to your Faculty Officer.
Important Comments:
- For registering to the next academic year make sure that you have the necessary number of credits and that
you meet the conditions according to the RULES FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF STUDIES.
All requirements which you have fulfilled (test/credits, examinations) must be entered in the SIS.
UNIVERSITY STUDY REPORT (“INDEX BOOK”) You will obtain your University Study Report (“Index book”) after your matriculation, after handing in the following documents to the International Students Office: 1. Receipt of the tuition fee payment, 2. Sport doctor report (you can use www.upsl.cz), 3. Signed “Statement” stating the fee to be paid.

If you need help with regard to your study, first try to find help from your more experienced friends.

If you would like to improve you sporting skills, you can take part in practical consultations – coaching:
As part of track and field, gymnastics and swimming courses you may attend practical consultations -
coaching sessions. For this a pass must be purchased. This is either for a semester or a full year. The fee is to be paid
at the Cashier's Office (check the prices, they are subject to change). Members of the University Club have a
discounted. The timetable of practical consultations can be followed at the websites of the relevant departments.

SCHOLARSHIP During your studies you may obtain a scholarship for outstanding results.
SCHOLARSHIP FOR OUTSTANDING RESULTS
- granted to students retroactively for outstanding results in the previous study period;
- conditions for granting such a scholarship are set by the Faculty (the basis of this is the establishment of a
performance average);
- granted to a certain number of students, i.e. 10 % of students of a particular study programme and academic
year;
- the range for the total value of a scholarship for outstanding results which can be paid to a student in a
particular academic year is 17000 CZK;
- results scholarships need not be applied for, the Faculty Office will advise you when they have been granted.
TUITION FEES You must pay the fee by 31st of October of the given year.
The amount is: 220.000 CZK for Physiotherapy
160.000 CZK for Physical Education and Sport
The day the obligation has been fulfilled is considered to be the day when the appropriate amount is credited to the Faculty account. You must prove to the Faculty that you have fulfilled this obligation by submitting appropriate proof of payment to the International Students Office.

BECOMING A STUDENT AGENT This is an invitation to become one of us! Bring a foreign friend for study in English language and get some benefits – financial + a special offer: unique experiences in Prague and/or Czech Republic! If you bring a friend to our study programmes in English, you get a financial reward of 10% from the paid amount for his/her first year of study. The exact conditions are in the agreement that you can get from Mrs. Andělová ([email protected]). For bringing two students you can also get one of the two activity packages. In 2017 these packages include: Sport Life in Prague is a weekend when you visit a rope park, ride a scooter through Divoká Šárka as far as Trója or ride a bike in the historic center of Prague, including a possibility of paddling and climbing lessons.
The package Sport Life in Prague with an Olympian offers a possibility of body measurement in UK FTVS labs and training together with the Olympic pentathlon winner David Svoboda.
For bringing three and more students you can get a special activity package. In 2017 this package includes:
The final package is Sport life in the Czech Countryside - it is a four day stay in Southern Bohemian town called Stráž nad Nežárkou. The programme includes a bike trip around the beautiful surroundings of Southern Bohemia, parkour, the basics of climbing on boulder, via ferrata and orienteering. All of this includes an accommodation and board for you +1.
What do you need to do? You only have to fill in the agreement, hand the signed original to Mrs. Andělová, and the benefits will start when you meet the conditions of the agreement.

CATERING AT THE FACULTY: STUDENT RESTAURANT AND
BISTRO
The canteen “Menza Sport” is located in the Faculty main building.
You can find it on the Ground Floor of Block E.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 11:15 – 14:00
Menu and prices: The set menu consists of soup, a main course and tea. The price of this averages 40 CZK. The
menus for individual student restaurants can be found on http://kam.cuni.cz/KAM-98.html
Ordering meals: Charles University student restaurants operate pre-order and a la carte systems. Pre-order meals
must be ordered in advance - lunches must be ordered by 14:00 on the preceding working day. An order may be
cancelled up to 14:00 on the day preceding that on which the meal ordered is to be served. Orders can be made at
https://kamweb.ruk.cuni.cz/webkredit/ or at the terminal in the student restaurant itself. If you do not order in
advance it may happen that the full set menu for the day is no longer available and only a single choice from the
menu choices is available.
Payment: Payment is made through your student card. This must be "charged" - cash credit added. Cash deposits to
students' accounts are done after presenting the student's Charles University ID card. Deposits can be made at the
canteen cashdesk.

Post Collection
Collection of personal mail sent to the faculty address (e.g. for students living at a dorm), contact point for communication with the faculty - important documents can be submitted via the post room (e.g. Application for subject recognition, Application to Suspend Study, etc.), for forwarding to faculty bodies. Your document will be stamped on receipt at the post room and you will have the certainty that it will be sent on.

Play area for children
There is a play area available for spending your free time with small children. It is equipped with toys, a changing counter and a children’s bed. The key is available at the reception. The play area is not supervised, and its use is on one’s own responsibility.

How to connect:
You will need a password to connect to the EDUROAM network. Set this at: https://ldap1.cuni.cz/ (not the
same one as for SIS). On the main page choose:

Here you enter the login information for the Central Authentication Service:
Use your personal number as your login name - you will find it under your photograph on your Charles University ID.
Enter your existing password in the password field (or fill in the password issued by the ID issue centre).
After successfully entering information for the Central Authentication Service, set your password for EDUROAM.
Another internet option is to use the computer room (UB1-1, Block B, 1st floor)

ORGANISATIONS AT THE FACULTY
UNIVERSITY SPORTS CLUB - VSK FTVS PRAGUE
At Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport there is a University Sports Club, where you can
take part in any one of the 28 sports on offer. Most of the VSK sections prepare students for top-level representative
sport, but also permit recreational and fitness training. The headquarters of the VSK at Faculty of Physical Education
and Sport is right at the Faculty. It makes use of the Faculty sports facilities. To be involved in these sports, you must
sign up.
TECHNICAL SPORTS CLUB KTS FTVS PRAGUE
A Technical Sports Club is part of Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport; it is a member of
the Czech Association of Academic Technical Sports and includes students from all universities in Prague and
throughout the Czech Republic. Those interested can take part in any of the 6 different sports on offer. To be involved
in these sports, you must sign up.

STUDENT CLUB
UK FTVS
The Student Club UK FTVS is formed of students who look after foreign students arriving to Prague from
various countries. Czech students try to help out foreign students with matters related to their start at the Faculty, as
well as during the semester. Their reward is the establishment of contacts abroad and the chance to practice their
foreign language skills. If you would like to take part in the events of the Club, please contact Ing. Dana Basařová:
[email protected] or call in on her any day between 9 and 12 in the Office HO63 (Block H, ground floor on the
right from the Reception).

LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Weight Training Room
The weight training room is available from Monday to Friday in the afternoon. The price list is at the Faculty website.
Multi-functional area and a beach volleyball court
At the faculty sports grounds one may hire the multi-functional area (includes 4 tennis courts, 4 volleyball courts, 4
basketball courts, 4 badminton courts, 4 football tennis courts, a handball, or small football court) and a beach
volleyball court.
For a small fee you can hire the equipment: balls (for basketball, volleyball, football) and rackets (tennis, badminton).
Facilities can be reserved directly with the groundskeepers at the site. You can also make your booking by telephone
on: 220 174705 or email: [email protected].
Your student ID is retained as deposit for any hire.

Minigolf
The minigolf course is located next to the athletics track. There are 9 holes. Both clubs
and balls can be hired. There is a hiring fee. Reservations can be made using the same
system as for the multi-functional area and beach volleyball courts.
Rope Centre and Parkour
Located between the Buildings A and B.
Reservations can be made in the same system as
for the multifunction area.
Sports Centre at Evropská
The Sports Centre at Evropská is part of the Faculty building. You can reach it from the car park in front of the
Faculty, to the right from the Main Entrance. You can find the full range of services and further information at:

USEFUL INFORMATION
Academic titles and their use
At university you will come across a considerable number of different academic titles. It is worthwhile learning to
distinguish among them. You will need them both in your personal dealings, as well as when using email and
telephone. Here is a list of titles and some basic rules for using them.
If a member of staff has more than one title, address him/her always by the most significant title.
The order of titles from the most important: Professor, Senior Lecturer, Doctor, Master/Ingenieur, Bachelor
The titles for assistants and lecturers do not have abbreviations.

Reduced student fares
Available to students from 19 to 26 years of age. Discounts are only available when proof of student status is
provided. To use Prague public transport you must obtain a Lítačka chip-card. This can be ordered on the internet or
